Looks like the database isn't fully converted yet - for example:

2. You need to clean those very ugly square brackets around every smiley icon .

Those are both user-submitted text and not something that can be easily edited.. well atually it can be, but there's no guarantee you'll cover all issues, and perhaps you'll have edited some things that did not need any editing.

As we go on, there will be only few snitz-text left, and I think everybody understands what is meant with a wrong smiley, right?.. the urls won't work but I don't think that's such a great problem.
The url's could be changed however - but this would be quite a huge query on the database..

Thanks very much for your explanation  

The fact is, converting 1.2GB of data, over 6 million rows of data in fact, from Windows/ASP/MS SQL/Snitz to Linux/PHP/mySQL/PHPBB was not trivial   I am pleased that we have arrived where we are with everything in its place and the search engine working even. I was even able to retain some profile settings.

However, there are some formatting anomalies between Snitz and PHPBB; e.g. Snitz uses square brackets around smilies whereas PHPBB does not. Therefore the legacy smilies will have square brackets around them. There are other things like this, but I don't intend to do anything about it. All new posts will be formatted correctly and all of the old posts are in the right places and attributed to the right members etc., and that is all that matters.

There are 22 modifications to this forums so far, and I might add more. 2 modifications that you might notice are the file attachment mod which is a major mod and replaces the file libary and the spell checker. The main Astral Pulse site is currently being completely rebuilt and will ahve alot more on it as well. Now we are on Linux/mySQL there is alot we can do.
