Title: How much can you stay there??
Post by: Jeff_Mash on April 23, 2004, 15:56:24
That probably depends on how you judge "time" itself.  When you are projecting, time doesn't really exist.  It's when you return that your linear, logical brain starts trying to estimate the time you were away.

As an example, you could have a projection which seems to last an hour....only to return and see that the physical clock says that you've only been gone for 5 minutes.

So I don't really know how to answer the question.  I can tell you, though, that I have had projections where I was fully conscious, and it SEEMED to last about 15-30 minutes.  If I can stay out that long, it's quite an accomplishment.  The majority of projections are shorter, especially for beginners, because you're still dealing with ways to control your thoughts and emotions, which ultimately bring you back to the body.

15 - 30 minutes?? well that's not so long after all in the physical dimention but does it really seem in the astral much longer than in the physical??
what is the reason of when you get out of projection by mistake?

Is it just by loosing concentration?

Holy excrement!
That's too bad, I guess that you can't do plenty of things in that long time.

Oh so you say it's like if I want to get from my house to a friend's house 2 KM away from mine then I can get there easily and fastly?

[xx(] wow... sounds hard and short...

How much time do you think that Mr. Bruce can stay on OBE usualy?

And another question: Do you OBE everyday?

Do you mean that you didn't do it recently because you didn't try? or maybe it's too hard? too scary? or you try every day and train on it but you don't reach to do that?

Project every night? I wish.

The last time I projected was a week ago, and before that it must have been more than a year since the last time. I only recenly got back into it.

All my good stories are from the past, now I'm a has-been :)

Hi all,

Hows it going? I wish too, but staying grounded for a bit.

I'm having a sensible weekend as I have to work over the next few days. Had a couple of short hops a couple of nights ago… The 1st one seemed pretty close to reality and located as if near to home, then decided to come back least I loose track and fall into a dream state etc. So back I came, eyes open – wonderful indeed. Then mused that I should get up and write the sublime little experience down, but could I drag myself out of bed – no way. Next I ended up flipping out again, this time into something more surreal and back yet again to base. I must have been too tired by this stage, as it was pretty late into the night! So lazily thought I’ll write it up in the morning… 8am awoke remembering very daft dream and could I remember any of the details of OBEs had, not a sausage. Least I know what a mind split is and now fully appreciate the memory download problems as perfectly described in Astral Dynamics.

Oh the wonders of a lone traveler!

Cheers,

S

Ah... Just noticed the extra pip!

Doing well..thanks for asking.

Sounds like you're doing better me OBEwise.

Maybe this weekend it's my turn *sigh*

Hi Tom,

Although the mini OBEs occurred at night - the practice at the workshop last year was obviously during the day and was from a seated position. Have you tried that, or as RB advised propped up in bed with extra pillows, rather than prone! Appreciate that you have a more thorough understanding of the theory than me. Also are you eating heavy meals before retiring etc? I have also found dry skin brushing and cool(ish) washing useful in addition to NEW as per the body work advice in Bardon’s IIH. It might help you never know!

Wishing you success. How does your poor Mrs (bless her) put up with this?

All the best,

S

Hi Tom,

Appreciate I'm going off subject. Psychic lady partners (wonderful), only problems is they know what you are thinking, but on the other hand empathy can be bliss! Might be worth starting another thread on that perhaps?

Take care,

S

Hi Mistic-Idan,

What did you mean by 'Master projections' over and above your initial statement?

OK then let say you are not Master projections, how long does it take you guys to do all the process? and by that I mean: Entering a trance state, clearing the mind and getting out of the body, or any methodes that you guys are using.

Hi Guys

Well I still don't know if my experiences are OOB's or LD's, but I can keep "out", erm, probably for about 5-10 mins... but it's hard.  I have to keep very focussed to prevent slipping into a regular dream, or just waking up.

But if I do wake up back in bed again I can usually nip right back out again, and have another experience.  I'll do this simply be rolling out, floating up, beaming across the room or whatever.  So I can keep the whole thing going for quite some time, sometimes it seems like ages.  Last week I managed to nip "out" maybe 7 or 8 times on the trot...  7 or 8 is unusual, but I can almost always manage 2/3 "outs" on the trot...

MajorTom.. regarding reading street signs while OOB/LD... I read somewhere recently that the way to tell if you are having an LD versus an OOB is to read a street sign (or anything in fact).  If you look away and read it again, then if your OOB'ing the name will be the same but if your LD'ing the name will be different every time you look.

Well I tested this and every time I re-read a street sign it gave me a different name!  Was quite incredible, if not annoying.  This makes it very hard to track down the real street in the physical!

Would be very interested to hear other people's experiences regarding reading street signs...?

Hi Mistic-Idan

I’ve not really added it up til now. I have only in last month returned to conscious exit AP, after a gap of quite a few years of having spontaneous OBEs only. Leading up to the last successful OBE I had spent a free day worked through a variety of practices, not all aimed at the OBE objective in particular. Although at the end of the evening I had found myself able to physically relax very comfortably, and maintain a clear and focused mind. So it just seemed natural to have a go and was lucky to derive some little success. From sitting and going through the prep to AP, and exiting took around 15 -25 minutes approx. The perceived duration of the AP was only a couple of minutes.

Hope that answers your question?

S

it is not a question of time... it's like if it didn't exist. the thing is when you bring astral projection to your life... like after waking up and you still have your astral body. sometimes i, especially when im tired and bored with nothing to do, i can feel my body in another part of the room and some times even have a full image of all my room, its so strange feels like loosing your body and being somewhere else.

Hi Thing,

Profound indeed, if not a little obtuse! Would you care to elaborate?

*Looking up "obtuse" in the dictionary*

I love these English guys...

Obtuse meant in a non-derogatory sense!

Well, Come on spill the beans.

Take  it that you are on the Eastern Seaboard then?

I'm not writing my dreams down from last night (far too bizzare) execpt to say it the first time I've heard DSM by Pink Floyd - start of side 1 in a dream. The space aliens were a bit wierd though. But Earth force and our suppporters rallied to the call... Quite enjoyable actually.

i get that feeling when im sitted down for some time, the first feeling is your head leaving the rest of your body backwards, it can only happen in absolute silence and no distraction... sorry i have nothing else i can say... its nothing special i don't think that energy is needed to do this, i don't see anything out of the normal just that "geral view".

Talking about dreams, I dunno if it was: 1. an OBE, 2. a lucid dream, 3. a regular dream.

I just remember from this "dream" that I astral projected and I remember that I didn't see well in the beginning and later I could see much clear then in the Physical dimention with a strong discoloration and other colour frequency.
Any idea on what it was?

in the astral body you have a 360 view.

Yes I know, and you are right... Now I remember!

I didn't see on my view angle! I saw myself.. so It was a dream after all.
But you remind me, yesterday night I had 2 lucid dreams :)

This question is directed to the Master projections, ppl that had masteres astral projection and that are controlling theirseves well.

How long do you think you can stay conscious in a RTV (real time vone) projection?
