So this may seem stupid. But what does he mean by "just grab the rope". Is this guy saying all you have to do is just reach up and grab it? as in, don't imagine it, don't "tactile image it" just reach up as you would in waking life, and grab it?

In the back of this book it explains how the exercises work.I read it in the book but it still doesn't make sense. Can someone explain it please? smiley huh

depends on what exercise, he mentions at least 50 in there. but basically he advocates finding a method that you can associate with well, and then using that method during meditation non stop for 1-2 months straight. He doesn't think everyone will experience an obe at the end of it, but he does say that anyone that sticks with it, and does it every day, will at most trigger an obe, or at east, invoke major energy sensations, which would be enought to hook you into wanting to learn how to do it.

It's a good read.

I kept trying, and one time, when things got really weird, I decided to tug on that rope and not stop.  Luckily, when the (very loud) *Pop* happened, I was already out of body, and my startled reaction didn't bring me back.  I still remember that one, though.

ps. When you feel the 'movement' follow it with your attention, as if you were physically trying to rotate on purpose, and see what happens.
The truth is that there is no way not to react emotionally- the good news is that you will get used to it and react less intensely every time, and at some point you will just go for it.

Good Advice, I will do that. I haven't been able to do much in the line of meditation in the last few days. I will post again with results.

Can we call it 'transitional' state instead of 'vibrational' state?  Humor me please?

So you think that this may be just a different aspect of the transitional state?

What are some things you did when you were first learning to overcome the excitement or fear of the sensations of the transitional state? Like I said, I think I get all too excited about it, and wind up tensing muscles and loosing the trance completely.

A few months back I put up an introductory post describing an experience I had while sitting in my comfy chair. It can be read here. Since that time I have extensively researched this topic, and my library is quickly becoming dominated by esoteric works. I have read much of Robert Bruce's works and actually own all of his printed material. The Revised Edition of Astral Dynamics and Energy work are great. I have been using binural beats and meditating almost daily.

Back in November I felt vibrations. Massive vibrations. They were so intense that I thought I was in the middle of an earthquake. But since that time, I have never experienced them again. It's almost as if the sensation of "vibration" has been replaced with a "rotation" or "spinning". It's sort of hard to explain, but it's like there is a "pivot point" directly on my xyphoid process (bottom of the sternum), and it feels like my entire body is rotating in 1080 degrees around this point. At first it made me dizzy. Now I can allow this feeling to occur usually after about 5-10 minutes of meditating, I can even decrease or increase it's intensity.

The question I have is, Is this "rotation" the transitional state? I have read that there are various sensations associated with it, and that not everyone experiences the vibrations in the transitional state. I have tried to "exit" multiple times during this, and every time I try, the intensity of the sensations increases dramatically, but then I get way too excited and as a result, almost as quickly as the rotation came, it goes away..

Which brings me to my second question, any idea how to be objective during this stage? It seems to me that I either get way too excited or way too scared, or a mixture of both. I feel like those emotions turn my attention back to my body and as a result, the experience ends. Perhaps this is an issue with exit technique?

I haven't done energy work or meditation every day until maybe the last month. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone. I'm new here, I wanted to drop by and say hello, and to tell you why I registered.

About 2 months ago, I put the kids down for their nap. I sat down in my cozy chair tilted my head back, and tried to doze off for a quick nap myself. I could hear my wife in the kitchen and it was keeping me awake, but I figured If I just ignored it I'd fall asleep eventually. I think about 20 minutes must have gone by and she was still in there, clanking dishes and making all kinds of obnoxious noise. I thought I heard myself snore for a second, then I thought about how I was kinda hungry, and I thought about making a sandwich, since the nap wasn't working out anyway.

Out of nowhere, I started shaking, massively, I felt pins and needles all over my body like when your foot falls asleep, but everywhere. And I heard a sound that sounded somewhat like high voltage electrical conduit, with a rumble behind it. I freaked. It felt like I was in the middle of a thunderstorm during an earthquake. I actually remember saying "whoa!", but I never actually said it, if that makes any sense at all. I manageed to calm down and get my eyes open. I moved around a little, I felt fine, but when I closed my eyes, it felt like I was sitting in the middle of a carousel, spinning around with my eyes closed. But my body was not moving at all. All this because I was thinking about making a sandwich?

So I thought I had something wrong with me. I checked the internet, (yeah, I know), and guess what I find? New age websites and a lot of hoopla about Astral Plane's and Soul Traveling. Great....

After much reading, it appears that there are literally millions of people describing what happened to me, and then some. Some of them, turned out to be people I know, but they never told me what was happening with them. So. I went to amazon, bought all of Robert Bruce's books, and several others by different authors.

I now am trying to re-produce what happened that day on purpose. Which is harder than it sounds as it turns out. I look forward to exploring this aspect of my life, And I hope I can share my experiences here with you.
