1  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Am I making progress? on: October 23, 2011, 06:57:51
I wasn't floating, I teleported.  Whenever I wanted to go somewhere in the dream, I merely translocated to that position.  Someone fired a missile (they were rides) and I wanted to ride it and I found myself on the missile riding it, and could steer it with my thoughts, so maybe I was floating in a sense.
2  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Am I making progress? on: October 22, 2011, 04:18:46
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to AP/LD/Phase for years now, but finding this site has opened up a wealth of information that wasn't available to me before.  A few months back, I really started trying to AP again.  I ran across the 'deferred method' and have been trying that.  I feel the deferred method is more about discipline and training your mind to do the techniques and just being more aware of trying.  While I haven't consciously projected yet as I am trying to really ingrain the techniques and get a regimen going, my dreams have become much more vivid.  At times I feel more aware in my dreams and if I really want to can change aspects about my dreams I don't like or want.  While it's not full on lucidity or control, it is an increased amount.  One point in a dream, I saw the aurora borealis and suddenly I had the desire to fly so I started flying and then found myself in a room with ordinary people sitting around talking and playing chess.  Other dreams have involved visiting civilizations that were similar to our own but not of this world.  The physics and gravity of these other worlds were different and movement seemed based more on thoughtforms than normal movement.  I think I am actually projecting but only becoming partially aware of it at various points.  What do you guys think?

I've been trying a resource Summerlander hooked me up with.  Try http://www.obe4u.com/.  It has a free e-book that has a lot of techniques.
4  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / So I keep falling asleep... on: September 04, 2011, 23:43:25
Hey everyone!
Going on month 2 of trying to phase/project etc.  One of the problems I'm having is I keep falling asleep.  I've been listening to the Monroe CD's and even if I am not tired, I usually end up falling asleep.  My brain must be sensitive to the hemi-sync  cheesy  I did manage an exit or phase last week, but it was because I could only manage a light sleep.  How do you keep yourself from going too deep of a sleep?  Even when I have a good 6 hours and wake up to start trying, I usually end up falling back asleep.  I think maybe I should try in my chair or in a reclined position.  Any thoughts?

Shallow,
I hear the pain in your voice, and you must have been through a lot of bad stuff.  But I want you to know that you are not alone.  I myself have battled, and continue to battle depression.  Sometimes I've felt like giving up, though I must admit I haven't been as close to the breaking point as you are.  I recently had a coworker who committed suicide due to problems in her life and her job.  All I can remember is the shockwave of pain it sent through everyone.  There were tons of unanswered questions, what-if's, and many of us strained to know the point at which we could have helped.  She was suddenly gone and it left a big hole of emptiness where she used to be.  Please I am begging you not to become that emptiness.  There are people who care about you.  I care!  The gift of AP seems like an awesome gift but it doesn't compare to the gift of what you are to others.  I suggest you to see a doctor and get some help.  There are medications out there that can help you feel better as depression can be a chemical imbalance in the brain.  Therapy can help too.  I take medications for depression and attend therapy periodically and those were helping.  Learning how to meditate and now trying to learn AP is helping me more.  Every little thing you do is additive to help get you out of the hole.  Start by just focusing on 1 day at a time and promise someone (it can be us) to not hurt yourself.  Hang in there you can talk to me about it if you want (I'm a nurse).

Yours,
Jonathan

I couldn't help but read the OP's post and think, "I choose you Charizard!"  grin
7  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: AP, can it be a non-visual experience? on: August 27, 2011, 04:32:39
Thanks for the clarification.  I wasn't sure if AP/Phasing was like super spectacular and all-involving as you say.  Knowing what something isn't is almost as important as knowing what it is.  I think I need to try my exercises in a chair instead of my bed since I keep falling asleep when I go deep into focus 12 hehe.  Even though I haven't "made it" yet, I still see benefits of my efforts.  I feel more at peace with myself and feel more rested.  I feel as though I'm getting in touch with a whole other side of myself that I didn't know was even there.  Before I thought that the spirit, soul, astral body etc was just something that "hung out" inside of us powering our body.  While it may do just that, I never thought I could learn to take control of them and use them like I do my physical body.  At first I was getting frustrated at not getting anywhere, but now I am having fun with the journey of learning to AP.  Slowly but surely I'm putting all the pieces together.
8  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / AP, can it be a non-visual experience? on: August 26, 2011, 18:51:38
I have been wondering for quite some time, is AP a strictly visual experience?  Or is it something you see in your mind's eye?  How do you know the difference between APing (or phasing) and strong visualization.  I get the strong feeling that phasing and AP-ing  involves using your non-physical body to sense everything that is going on and then your "astral mind" processes it into something you can comprehend.  Sometimes I will begin to "see" things.  Once a couple weeks back, I actually saw a bright flash of light but nothing more.  I also felt someone standing over me as if they were there to offer assistance.  Most of the time however, I'm not really seeing anything but more "feeling" it.  I guess what I'm asking am I going to see all kinds of colors and things and it be a very visual experience or will it be a more of a tactile or "sensing" experience?

If you look at all of the civilizations in history, which are the ones who inevitably end up failing?  The ones who cannot live in peace with their neighbors.  Rome is a good example, militarily they were the best and the most advanced and disciplined in the world.  However their downfall is they would make war and expand beyond what they were able to sustain.  Eventually they became weak and small tribes chipped away at their empire.  The same can be said of the imperialistic colonies of the 16-1700's.  Look where they are today, they have only a fraction of the power they used to hold.  Germany is also a good example.  I believe the US is heading this way as well.  Time and again it's proven that war doesn't really create peace.  Peace can only be obtained when we search within and find our inner peace.  Then we can help our brother and sister find their inner peace. "A peacemaker shall be known as a child of God."  Do we need the military to protect our ideals and sovereinty? Yes.  If we carry a sword, does that mean we necessarily have to use it? No.  Creating suffering only leads to more suffering.

Boot camp eh?  Well thank you for your service in these times.  It's great to see the bravery of those willing to go into a potentially dangerous situation in order to better themselves, defend the country, or provide for their families etc.  Having been through the same situation myself, and gone through combat, I can offer a bit of perspective for you.  For one, if you two really love each other, I'd say go for the distance relationship.  You won't be able to talk on the phone often during basic, but after you get to AIT you can pretty much whenever you want.  If you are deployed overseas there are still internet cafes, phone centers etc, but you will have to negotiate a time difference.  I met my wonderful wife online and she is from Peru.  We talked for 2 years before ever meeting and our love just grew.  AP would be great, but a relationship needs something concrete, i.e. she needs to hear your voice, see your letters and pictures etc.  With the technology we have, what was impossible even 10 years ago is very much possible now.

As for learning AP, I think it would be a great sanctuary from the rigors of combat.  I have seen many turn to meditation in the military as I myself had done.  Learn all you can about meditation, AP, and spirituality before you go to basic.  It will really help you through.

Best of Luck,
Jonathan
11  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / 1 month of trying on: August 15, 2011, 08:28:44
Hey guys,
I've tried to AP before in the past but never really seriously like I am now.  After reading the forums for tips, reading websites etc, and from my own practice and reflection, I find myself with some questions.  I'm getting a little frustrated, yes I did have one very brief experience, and a couple of very close projections, but nothing really big so far.  My first question is, how do I deal with the frustration? I am trying to learn something that others have said are true, and I know to be true myself but have never truly experienced, and I feel I am flying blind.  Robert Monroe says something like "you can read about it, and believe it, but it's something you have to experience and to know."  I feel like I'm in New York trying to reach LA without GPS or maps, only someone telling me which way to turn and how far to go etc.

Part of it I think is going back to the basics.  I know how to meditate, but I have "monkey mind" and it is hard to focus without my mind wandering.  I will get to a very relaxed state and feel vibrations, but then I will start seeing things, hearing things, then my mind starts racing.  My body will tense up because something is happening and maybe it's a subconscious fear to let go.  Mainly I fall asleep after that.  Sometimes I do maintain focus, but then I'm laying down and nothing happens, I just remain in a very relaxed state.  At that point my mind may try to conjure up false sensations that something is happening.

My second question is about intent.  I noticed there was a post relating that you have to have proper intent to project or phase.  What is proper intent?  Is it good enough to say, "I want to leave my body?"  Do I need to be specific and say, "I'm going to leave my body, travel to the astral plane, and meet a guide or see a certain dimension?"  Does intent have to be deep like, I want to find the hidden meaning of my existence or can it be such as I just want to fly around and have fun?

I know AP etc is a fantastic skill, one many people never believe, let alone attempt or actually accomplish it.  We're so stuck in the physical world that we often forget about the non-physical.  I've always been drawn to the non-physical and the esoteric.  Mostly it is because I am an explorer at heart and this is why AP appeals to me very greatly.  I do have some skepticism however, but I want to erase it.  I know developing meditation can help me acheive my goals, and here is my third question.

I have heard of NEW (new energy ways) and others have mentioned like Vipassana meditation.  Do I need to build up my energy body before I can seriously project or is this unnecessary?  What are your beliefs about meditation and the best ways to build up your energy?

Thanks for your input,
Jonathan
12  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / When Dreams Attack on: August 13, 2011, 10:53:26
While attempting to AP and Phase, I have also been attempting to gain control of my dreams via Lucid Dreaming as I feel this can also be a tool for AP.  The problem is I am able to gain partial control or partial awareness, but when this happens it is like the dream fights to keep me out of control and in normal dream mode.  For instance I dreamt my boss was angry at me for not showing up to work (I am a nurse) for 3 days in a row.  I asked where was I supposed to work, she told me I was to work on a different floor than I normally work.  I knew something was wrong because I never work those floors, and I knew the floors she told me didn't even exist.  I argued with her this wasn't the truth, that those floors didn't even exist.  She told me to look at the schedule book and I just KNEW it would say what is true.  It turns out the schedule book was what see said and I sat there looking at it stunned.  At that point I felt defeated and the dream changed.

At times I can change things in my dreams, especially now I am learning more about meditation and AP.  I am also remembering more of my dreams.  However when I try to change anything about the dream, it's a lot like the people in Inception when they become more hostile as you try to change the dream.  Anyone experience this?
13  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Did I have my first OBE? on: August 10, 2011, 11:07:54
Thanks Dean!  About three years ago I was being taught energy work with the Kuji In, so I know a little about energy work.  I'm interested in trying the systems you mentioned.  Funny because the last symbol of the Kuji In I worked with was "Retsu" which translates to "mastery of time and space."  I could never grasp the meaning of it that my teacher was trying to guide me to learn, but it looks like I picked up where I left off with picking back up trying to learn AP.  I think mastery of time and space has a lot to do with AP.  I need to get in touch with my old teacher and see what he thinks about it.

On another note,
I've been dreaming a lot about elementals lately.  Back when I was meditating with the Kuji In I also dreamed a lot about the elements.  Just the other day I dreamed about going into a cave with singing crystals with a group of people and there were very vivid colors and the sounds were astonishingly beautiful.  Some of the people in the group began taking crystals and some crystal spiders came to life and took those people back to the end of the cave as punishment.  After leaving the cave I had to take a bus down to the bottom of a ravine and came to a canyon.  I remember seeing various layers of rock in the canyon walls.  I then had to ask the spirit of the earth who was female if I could enter through a pathway and if it were alright if I took some crystals with me.  She was hesitant at first but then she allowed me to take a crystal and told me to crush it into the earth to find its true form.  Later at the top of the canyon I saw a souvenir store with various crystal items for sale and I saw 2 amber colored crystal pyramids.  After that the dream was over.

The dream I had last night was of water elementals (water formed into the shape of people) going to a spring where there were people playing in it.  There was a man who through a coin into the pool and the water elementals became angry and thrust the coin to his head (where the third eye chakra is) and the pool became angry and turbulent.  Suddenly a geyser burst forth and carried the man downstream.  I then woke up.

What do you think these dreams mean?  Why am I dreaming of the elements?  What do you think of mastery of time and space?  Is there any correlation between the elements and AP?

Yours,
Jonathan

I used the Gateway Experience by Robert Monroe.  Specifically Wave I "Discovery" the track titled "Introduction to Focus 10."  I'm pretty sure we can get to these altered states on our own as well, but the CD just helped me to identify it better.  Thank you for the responses to my post, I am thinking of starting up a dream journal.  I've been having so many vivid dreams and I am able to remember most of them.
15  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Did I have my first OBE? on: August 04, 2011, 10:36:44
Hello,
This is my first post on this forum.  I've been trying to have OBE's for a long time.  Lately I've been listening to Robert Monroe's Wave I discovery and have been focusing on listening to "Introduction to Focus 10."  Last night I found myself very restful and relaxed following the program.  I remember being so focused and the suddenly I felt like sucked out of my body forcefully, almost like being squeezed and then like a cork popping free.  I found myself at the convenience store 3 miles away and I saw the lady working at the register.  It didn't last more than a couple of seconds though.  I felt so stiff and rigid, I tried to walk or even turn my head and was unable to.  I then "slipped" back and was in my room again and I fell asleep.  Was this an OBE or a very vivid Lucid dream?

I also have a couple of questions:
Should I limit myself on using Monroe's program or can I use it freely?  I don't want to have to use it like a crutch, but it does help me get to deeper mindstates and learn what they feel like.

Can I try as many times as I like to have an OBE?  Lately I've been feeling tired the more I try.  Should I be feeling this or is there an "energy replenishment" I should do?

Can someone visit me to help me get out?  I'm asking someone here that is experienced to help me.

I appreciate you guys, I already feel a peaceful energy from here.
