1  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral experiences! / Re: "Fear" Dilemma (Fear of fear of demons) on: Yesterday at 02:30:34
So if I do create a monster or demon no matter how my mind creates it the thing won't be able to do anything to me?  And its probably what I should do to get rid of the fear?
No, that's not what I'd say.  If you create a monster or 'demon' it'll probably terrorize it until you either defeat it or it drives you crazy.
And I don't think that ending in the insane asylum could be considered 'nothing'.
I don't think creating something like that would be the best thing to get rid of the fear, only you know what you're afraid of.

What I'd do would be to do a lot of introspective work to find out not only what you're scared of and know about it, but also what else could come out of your subconscious and bite you, so to speak, and then find a way to resolve these fears rationally (by talking about them, or tracing the reason for some other fears) and then maybe learning to practice projection or meditation, and see how it goes.

But no, I wouldn't recommend jumping out of an airplane for someone who has fear of heights.  I'd start with finding out why they have fear of heights, and then going from there, in a step-by step approach.
2  World Religions / Welcome to World Religions! / Re: Confusion about Jesus name on: October 11, 2008, 19:14:28
One more thing just to make you ponder a little more:  The name Jesus is based on three letters (as KK pointed out) because the ancient hebrews did not use vowels in their writing.  So the distinction of Jesus vs. Joshua was made post-new testament, and practically all the OT Joshuas had this vocalization assigned to them while Jesus' vocalization was pronouncedly different on purpose.
Originally, Jesus' name was the same as all the other Joshuas in the bible.  We call him Jesus (or Isa, depending on the religion) because of what was really a slick political decision.
Food for thought.

Matthew 1:23

Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son and they shall call him Em-man-u-el (Immanuel) which being interpreted is God with us.

I guess he's ticked about being mislabeld for 2000 years.
Like Matthew says, Emmanuel is a title not a name.  When Matthew the scribe writes 'behold a virgin shall be with child', he is actually quoting another older scriptural reference which is the 'prophecy' which is supposed to be actualized, and the original prophecy is not that a virgin will be with child, but that a "Young Woman" shall be with child (like someone else said, virgin is a mistranslation of almah, which means young woman).
So Matthew was proclaiming a prophecy that was being fulfilled in Jesus' birth, according to which was understood at the time, not naming him.

Someone correctly inferred that Emmanuel is an angel name- this should be correct, as it ends in 'el', which is the short version of  Elohim, which is the plural version of God.  So the suffix (or prefix) el means 'God in', like all the other angel names (Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Gabriel)  All these names have an aspect and are 'of God', or 'God in...'.
So you can see linguistically Emmanuel, like Messiah and Christ, is a title, not a name.

Mm, with a nic like yours I don't know if I can make you feel better, but I'll try-

As far as I know (and I could be wrong) there are three or general types of astral beings- Other projectors and their thoughtforms, lower astral beings (that is, simple wildlife), your own aspects and thoughtforms, and higher order demons and angels.  (In other words, intelligent entities with power associated with them.)

The other projectors and their thoughtforms can't hurt you, only scare and/or antagonize you if this is their intention, or make friends and hang out, like in physical life-
Lower astral beings are not intelligent (think a fox or a squirrel, a mosquito or a bear) and can weaken you, but not really harm you, and will stay out of your way if you stay out of theirs.  Once again, like in the material world.
The only things that usually take interest in you are your own aspects (which btw is what the guys with the red eyes sound like to me), whose job is to  keep you out of trouble and steer you into a learning situation, not always pleasant but always conducive to learning and growth, and your own thoughtforms, that by your subconscious impulse will immediately react to any passing thought and create most of the situations you fear.  This is the nature of the astral, a thought responsive environment, and most of what happens is your own conscious creation.

So if you think demon and you get an immediate demon, chances are you created it through your fear and imagination, which becomes objectified immediately.

Real demons and angels, that is higher order beings who have their existence independent to ours, do not 'immediately react' to our thoughts.  Most of the time they have 'something better to do', since their purpose is too different from ours for them to take notice of us, or to care about what we do, unless there is a significant reason for them to do so.
For example, you may have a 'mission' and may need help to achieve (in which case an angel will prob. work with your guide/aspects to help achieve) and a demon may direct it's attention to you if it's in it's interest to possess/torment you, or it may be directed at you by a powerful magician or other higher being that has an interest in you for some other reason.

So I wouldn't worry so much about demons, but I'd worry about fear, which will almost undoubtedly let you experience your version of demons, or whatever else scares you.

I would think so.

Vibrations are an indication of consciousness change, either from in-body to out of body or the reverse.  If you are waking up to them chances are you're on your way back.  Regardless, if you wake up to vibrations try to go back to the 'almost asleep' phase and then try an exit tech, unless it's time to get up.

Love your avatar Alan.
I would say just to follow the convo that the ancient (or not so ancient, depends who you ask) kabalistic jews solved this 'riddle' by coming up with the idea of Ein Sof, which is unmanifest.  Since Ein Sof is unmanifest, the rules of time and space (that is, causality) don't apply.  That's why the 'clockwork' idea that most theists use is meaningless, because it is causal.  Then they took it a step further, causing God to manifest of itself, making God both immanent and transcendent at the same time.  I think this is genius.  The ancient Hindu mystics did the same thing with the ideas of Brahman and Atman.
The only people that seem to have problems with this concept are the modern western christians and possibly some muslims  (and atheists alike, which points to a socio-psychological reason, more than a religious reason, (obviously my opinion) because in their rush to make God subject to exclusivity, they have objectivized God and created causal limitations of the idea of God.
And yes, I believe in God, in a panantheistic way.
Interesting topic.

I thought the gnostics called the creator either Yahweh or Yaldabaoth, not satan or lucifer-

Thanks for the vote of confidence Stookie- I  have some gnostic friends and like some gnostic gospels (like the Gospel of Thomas) but not others.  I didn't think you thought anything in particular, I just wanted to clarify that little detail.
I'm sure there have to be some gnostics around here that can explain their cosmology better, 'cause I really don't know nuthin'.

Here's a depiction of the gnostic veil that someone else posted here a while back:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k241/agochar/GnosticSoul.jpg

The original gnostics believed the veil is the physical world and the physical body, created by Satan to deceive man and keep him from knowing his true self and God. Some believe the veil is created by ego, and our goal is to alchemically transform ego into spirit, or something of that nature.

And I bet that CFTraveler knows much more about this stuff than me and my armchair mysticism Smiley
I know nuthin'.
But I will say that in premedieval times the early christians believed that the sky was made of copper and was shaped like a dome- hence the word 'firmament'. (Which means 'firm').  However, my very little knowledge of ancient gnosticism revolves around a system of thought that involved a pseudo-god who created the world out of his own belief, not knowing he was the offspring of Sophia (knowledge).  This stemmed from the idea that a god that creates situations that are not so good can't be so good.  Hence the veil in which reality is dual, separating it from nondualism, which this pseudo god doesn't even know about, being limited in understanding.
As you can imagine, I don't subscribe to gnostic dualism but see why they thought what they thought...... grin
11  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Re: Underwater - projections into future? - 2012 on: October 02, 2008, 21:06:19
hmm i was reading this and some one said pole shifts might occur this brought to mind the theory that sense humans have their own magnetic field a dramatic shift in magnetisum could cause brain damage... just a thought.
Why would a magnetic shift cause brain damage?  The em field in the body is not directional in the same way the whole earth's em field is.  Plus the earth's magnetic field changes all the time, and we don't even notice.  The animals that use em fields to travel (flock animals, like birds and bees) get confused when it's time to migrate, but that has nothing to do with brain function.

Quote
besides wouldnt the earths core have to stop rotating and reverse to switch polarity??/
It could change phases (the direction in which it's rotating).  I'm pretty sure it already does this.

Quote
if you ask me im not worried if it happenes it does if it doesnt then nice to know i didnt lose any sleep over it
people should stop worrying about the future and live in the now Smiley

cheers all
I agree.

You were having migraines with aura.  This is caused by pressure on the optic nerve.  It's not an ability or a kinesis.

14  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to OBE discussions! / Re: Astral Projection for the nine to fiver on: September 23, 2008, 22:40:26
I have to get up at 6:00am, don't get home till 7:00PM, and usually dont go to sleep until Midnight, so am already feeling pretty burnt out after 4 nights of trying. I too am going to practice breathing excercises and feeling my body relax, leaving the actual projection attempts for the weekends.
If I were you I'd do energy raising when you wake up in the morning.  It may even help you with 'waking up' and feeling good about your long long day.
It's simple, and you can do it in a minute or two:  Sit up on the bed, put your feet on the floor, and sitting there take a deep breath.  As you breathe in 'feel' the energy going in through your feet, up your legs, up your back, all the way to the top of your head.  Then exhale slowly, and as you do let the energy flow down the front of your body all the way to your belly-button, and have it 'go in' right below your belly button, imagining that there is an empty bucket you can fill with energy.  Do this two or three times and see how it feels for you.
15  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to OBE discussions! / Re: Astral Projection for the nine to fiver on: September 21, 2008, 22:31:30
Depending on your practice schedule (how long do you practice, what do you do?) I'd suggest daily meditation or energy work or whatever you do for training (like 15 minutes, whenever you have the time, day or night) and your 'real' projection attempt on the weekend, making sure that you affirm your intention to project at that time only.  That way you don't waste your energy on an attempt that you half-know won't work for this or another reason, and use the practice to accumulate your energy or experience to be used when you really have time.
Part of any projection practice is to 'get you used to' the exercise(s), and a lot of effort is wasted in trying to project when you're not ready yet- and when you make an attempt 'not really expecting to succeed' you train your consciousness to not do it, which is exactly the opposite of what you want.
Of course this is all highly subjective and depends on your level of proficiency and experience.
 wink
