I meant truth and spirituality.

And, interesting, but great answers nonetheless Stookie and CFTravler.

Just felt it was a valid question for self reflection and reaffirmation. Not to mention, hearing others responses is interesting as well.

I think the argument can go either way, obviously, spirituality in nature is so different that the word "self" simply can't be considered, but that is just a goal. And it is the reasons of why or by what means it is pursued that I was considering.

It feels right, but at the same time I feel as though there is a lot to be sacrificed when considering others if you wanted any chance of achieving that desired state of being.

I guess to me, the question could be, is the pursuit of truth a selfish one? because I honestly feel like those words are interchangeable.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but the whole claim about us only using 10% of out brain is a huge myth. Maybe, if you were only counting the parts of the brain that were used for cognitive processes while sitting down and just thinking would give you a percentage around that, but nearly if not all of our brain is used whether it be for motor skills, memory, subconscious/conscious thought. Besides, if we really only used so little of out brains I don't think it would be nearly as easy to cause the detrimental harm to it many have experienced. If you really wanted to though, you could go out on a limb and say we only use 10% of our brain's potential but even then that's a weighty claim.

Not entirely relevant to the conversation, but important nonetheless.
6  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: Not sure if this already got put up...... on: December 13, 2009, 10:08:07
I'm quite certain these abilities exist within out realm of existence.

That being said, the mindset and level of spirituality involved behind it are so overwhelmingly critical towards manifesting abilities of any sort that most people never achieve it. Simply wishing for the ability to fly everyday as well as attempting to probably isn't going to bring anything. Meditation and learning to harmonize your body with that of what's around you brings understanding and inevitably the steps for change. This also explains why you aren't going to see masters wandering around teaching everyone they meet. To what advantage does enabling telekinetic powers allow for spiritual growth? I've gone in circles, but really that's what it all boils down to. These things would come naturally if you sought to progress your whole being. Ironically, the chances are pretty slim that you'd ever be using them once you got them anyways. Sounds like it sucks? you're not ready for those capabilities then.

Something worth thorough contemplation. Break the cycle and create the change yourself, however oblivious we all are.
7  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: Anyone from Southern California on: December 11, 2009, 07:49:10
there really isn't nothing too major floating around down here in southern california. I found a group and happened to go to a few classes only through a friend of a friend, and it was pretty low key (all of whom were much older than myself too). Are you around Los Angeles or San Diego more?

One method, that may at least be work considering would be to google map the nearest psychic/spiritual store and ask around there, you might not find the best classes in the world, but the people you meet through these classes could take you onward to the real deal (something of which I had the chance to do, but the time wasn't right)

:-DHi! I'm Cameo.  I live in America, Virginia.

I used to astral travel all the time.  But I don't remember it.

You do realize how funny that sounds right? Cheesy but I've read your other posts so I understand what you mean. You might want to consider meditation as a means to tap into those memories (although it make take much more delligent practice than you think) which might in turn jump start the rest of it all together.

I'm bill. I just joined today lol.

I learned about astral projection through isochronic tones. (P.S. Isochronic tones are actually found to be way stronger than binaurals) I didn't exactly know what it was. This was about 3 months ago. I started to look up a whole bunch of articles on the internet. Ever since about 2 months ago, I've been trying to astral project. And, whenever I get a detachment feeling, I focus on my eyelids and fall back. It's very hard to explain. If somebody could help me out, pm or email: XXXXXXXXXX

just a note, most spamming engines and programs scan for emails, so you should probably just edit that part when posting it up is just sticking your neck out for no reason when you could instead use the nifty private message features converse and perhaps exchange emails too. Wink

The only thing I should say is forget words, words are limiting. We are all people, seeking something. Don't stop searching, growing or loving, and be open. When we are open, the truth becomes obvious, and it's beautiful. Smiley

Well, welcome to AP forums Smiley

In something as fickle as this any definites for why almost never exist, but having this exact thing happen to me too I can tell you that there is no limit to how soon and how far these dreams can go in showing us what will happen. From a strictly scientific and psychological perspective someone would say that your probably only thinking that you have experienced this before in a dream that shared some similar traits and triggering the experience. Which is definitely an explanation for a majority of cases to, but to those of us who have seen "the other side" or rather the unexplainable side I think we can say with good reason that there is more than science involved (not implying religious aspects either)

I could just say that what your experiencing is called a premonition or as messaged above precognition, but understanding helps provide the foundation to expand Smiley if you have any specific questions I can try my best to answer if possible by either on this forum or in a private message if you find it more suited to you liking. chances are though, your experiences have already sparked a curiosity that allowed you to find out some information on your own Wink

13  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 31, 2007, 07:44:04
Just based off of what you said typically that would spark me off probably on some rant about something as personal as a religion although I don't think that word should even be used to accurately describe the philosophies and ideologies that many people possess, but I unfortunately do not understand what specifically the site says so I cannot hastily snap on what seemed to be a half thought out remark  cheesy sorry if this comment comes of as critical cheesy

so, I say this...in my practices and searches the past few years I have learned a lot. Many questions have been answered, but for every question answered more took its spot. I found that, at least from what I observed that divine faith whether it be any number of different religions do in fact help is achieving these feats, but why is that? (Are)is god(s) coming down and blessing us with their light to give us the ability to do such things or maybe its the entire thought process of believing in something like this to begin with? Typically if we think of "the lord", Jesus, Buddha, Allah, god, ect...we will think of divine light a good spirited energy whether consciously or subconsciously by association. Either way we or they are connecting to not only to powerful mass of energy and thus obtaining what is needed to obtain a higher level of self needed for these feats to occur. And I do acknowledge that belief is a valuable tool, but only because I think it is much harder for people to consciously fathom a such a massive universal source of energy, much less be able to harness it for use. So that is may be a reason why faith in "the lord" may help, but I think it would be ignorant to assume that it is necessary to be able to do so.
14  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 31, 2007, 02:36:13
awesome! I guess you could try affirmations and visualisations intensively as an aide? Also working with your subconcious by doing the same whilst drifting off to sleep could be very powerful...

I have a question for you in regards to your attempts... In comparison to just putting your leg in the water normally, how much difference is there between trying to WALK on the water? like is it significantly different? Im very interested in this... I may even begin my own attempts.

well usually I just stop at the edge of a pool to initiate the process...but usually walking on water requires a different mind set than swimming in it and it is important to remember afterwards that another mindset is required to swim in it again to help maintain order. One of my biggest rules is to avoid over thinking anything and keep all thoughts in general to a minimum....in reality they arent neccessary. Its kind of hard to explain what you arent thinking about, but you can look back on it and give a generalized feeling. I also either did not look down or closed my eyes and that instead of the water becoming displaced around my foot it would remain intact...gah...not necessarily intact either though just seperate I guess...well I have to leave at this moment so I will be back to finish this...maybe a chatroom possibly
15  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 30, 2007, 05:36:28
Is anyone game enough to try and TRY this stuff? haha. we always seem to think about it but giving it a go is another story aye?

actually yeah I have tried this before, although I was able to put nearly enough weight on the water as I would have liked to, but that was a year and a half ago and I have made a considerable amount of progress since then. My approach was to almost act like a water strider and go off of the water surface tension. I took steps to see if I could forcibly strengthen it and succeeded in making no ripples on contact!! and then from there I went to find our how much weight I could put on a foot before breaking through and at first it wasnt much at all but soon I was able to work up to about a leg of weight, but I hit a block in the road and was never able to get it passed that weight...maybe I should look to try again and see where I am, especially since I would doubt anyone would be swimming much this time of year (you need still water).
16  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 28, 2007, 20:53:55
There are a couple reasons for these type of conversations can be so long or confusing. Mainly being the fact that there are many different ideologies for an explanation of why and that so much of this is gray just about anything can be said fairly. That being said I think the idea of our dimension of existence being fabricated by the collective subconscious of all the people who reside in it sounds very plausible. I'm guessing that because ideas like 1 is 1 and therefore cannot be two are reinforced on such a tremendously large scale that 1 is never two (although I have seen an amusing formula with a minor flaw which proves one is equal to two, but I'd being going pretty far off topic wink) So, lets just say that someone in fact has actually been able to accomplish this feat. two  ways to look at it...(s)he either bent through a serious law of our physical plane or maybe there was a more scientific approach in his feat with either adjusting the density of water of water tension. As you could see both cases would be taking a different route in the way they would be affect our level of existence.  I don't think that someone would or ever should break through because like you said and like I mentioned in an earlier post the results our physical laws being shattered would have catastrophic results. So is it possible that instead of breaking through a law like this he is instead merely bending or in fact adding alterations of his own although hardly in a literal sense. Depending how how the feat of walking on water would be accomplished would;d determine the result. We hear about superheros all the time, but I really doubt if a super hero made themselves known that we would be plunged into chaos because I think we or at least I forget that we also have backup safety nets to help prevent this chaos. if you were to see a superhero chances are you would be overcome with either strong doubt or a belief that (s)he has something special about them that allows for them to accomplish such a thing, but you should be able to see where I am going with this. The fact is that there are a lot of could be's and what ifs but until any of this happens in the public stream (chances are it already has) we really wont know. I wonder if anyone has ever considered the possibility that maybe in order to accomplish this we do not need to get rid of something but perhaps add something to block another thing. Savants (excuse spelling if I am wrong) as well as a large amount of autistic people have parts of their brain inactive while they soar at others. So, what if we need to instead learn how to block of that part of the brain that instinctively tell us no....how? Sorry to anyone if I may have lost anyone in my babble, but with my hyperactive mind in something as complex as this it is a little difficult to be able to develop a thought while a million others in something as open as this continue to flow. Hopefully I answered someones questions because I know I answered some of my own  wink

17  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 28, 2007, 10:16:30
In terms of belief your subconcious wins every time... no amount of energy work is going to change one of your beliefs at a subconcious (basically hardwired) level. There are methods of doing this however which to my knowledge arent exactly that difficult or time consuming but it would take a bit of work for sure. Its also the ONLY way to actually rid yourself of that mental block in order to actually believeee you can walk on water to be able to do it. So its rather necessary...
Im sorry, its either A. I need to go to sleep which is definitely possible considering the time it is for me right now cheesy or B. Your word choice is clear enough for me to understand what you are specifically responding to in quoting me. But, taking a guess at what you said I agree with what your saying in that our subconscious beliefs are in fact a hardwired part of human nature, but when I mention energy work I think your thinking of it as something purely physical and not mental (correct me if I am wrong) but in fact includes both. If you want the best results in the long run for control and fluidity of your flow of energy you need control of the mind. Again though I have been awake for 22 hours now so I might have to come back and edit this later..

explain to me how, if i believe i can walk on water with my whole being i can actually do it. that just boggles my mind.
.

I think this walks into the lines of quantum physics, and if you find this one topic to be intriguing then I would definitely suggest that you pick something up from a bookstore if possible (theres also movies if your lazy like me). Have you ever heard of "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can"? because this basically runs along the same lines that the only thing that inhibits us from doing and obtaining what is otherwise considered impossible is our own selves.  smiley
18  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Re: walking on water, etc. on: December 23, 2007, 03:12:47
Very true, the whole "we only use less than 10% of our brain" is completely false  rolleyes

However, in regards to getting pass this mental block I dont think its as easy as just say simply reprogramming your subconscious (which would be in my opinion something that would be very difficult and possibly damaging if not done properly) and that there is a considerably larger amount of practice and work involved behind it, although ridding yourself of this mental block would definitely be beneficial. But I think what I am trying to say is that practicing in energy works or anything else in the same regards are the steps you can take to slowly get rid of this block. Simply having this block completely removed without any prior training (if you can imagine every single law of physics being broken simultaneously) I'd imagine would be quite mind boggline  cheesy

you should be careful with these kind of things. This is not to say that all offers are shams, but I do believe that a large majority of them offer more than they could ever possibly give. There definitely are a few who offer lessons for a minor price but if you are offered a huge hefty fee while he smokes a box of cigarettes with his whiskey I doubt his knowledge holds any merit. Most techniques take a lot of practice and any newcomers who try these techniques could actually become potentially hurt by some of these things without enough practice. I myself have discovered a new energy rising technique, however even though I approached it carefully I was not careful enough and I soon after dropped down to my knees clutching my stomach in pain...... rolleyes I was a foolish one. ANYWAYS my point is be careful in where and from who you learn techniques so you can insure your safety and be able to increase your energy development while being able to reap the benefits from these practices as well.

well speaking personally, whenever I needed to know where a person was or if a person was coming it was much easier to notice. But, even when I am not paying attention to whether or not someone is coming or going I cant feel them moving through my feild of consiousness....I think some of you understand what I am saying but basically its just the certain radius around me that is within my awareness.
