1  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / a question you might not like on: December 20, 2003, 21:34:38
Is it just me, or does anyone else think this forum kinds of sucks sometimes? I find few topics with any real meat to them, most of the time they seem very silly and superficial. I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't say that I've started some of those crappy threads, but regardless, I find myself less and less interested. Back when the forum first started in its old format, more of the topics were interesting. I guess it's partly because I was new to the whole metaphysical thing so everything was fresh, not just repetitions of topic after topic (Anybody know how to do telekinesis? Psi-balls[Sad!]. I "almost" left my body! etc..). Also, the percentage of truly experienced people was higher, and they posted more often. There was Carl, Donni, RB, and lots of others whose names I can't even remember because they haven't posted for years. I do really appreciate the thoughts of some of the members, but because there are 100 times the amount of people and posts here, it's alot harder to find the diamonds in the rough. I know I'll probably get replies saying "Well just leave you ungratefull bastard!" and I'd follow that advice if there wasn't those few very interesting topics from time to time. They do make it worth it, but it doesn't mean I can't be dissapointed. Feel free to tell me any of your thoughts on the matter, I love a good discussion. Ben
2  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / lost RB article on: December 19, 2003, 23:34:54
Does anybody know where that article is in which Robert wrote about a neat astral knight experience? It's really cool, there's that one nasty neg messing with some of the local kids and he tries to help them, and follows the negs into some portal and has this big fight with a bunch of other knights against alot of negs and eventually a bigger one, and it's shoots a big nasty thing at them, which they catch, turn into good energy and shoot back. I think I read it on spiritweb, but it's closed now. Any other cool experiences that he or other very experienced people have had would be just fine too. It keeps me motivated. Thanks.  Ben
3  Magic / Welcome to Magic! / question for experienced practitioners on: December 13, 2003, 03:01:12
Hey, I've decided it's time to get into magic as a real part of my life. I plan to get Kraig's, Bardon's, and Lomer's books and practice what's in them and elevate my inner self through practice, just like NEW, but deeper and more comprehensive. My main reason to get into it is for spiritual evolution but I do admit some of the skills gained would be really useful. And I think a part of me still needs proof of the reality of magic in this world. I use the energy in my body with NEW and I've seen through my eyelids and almost projected, along with some other weird experiences, but for some reason I've seperated the reality of those things from the reality of magic, though I bet they're one in the same. So I have 2 questions. One, if I were to get these books and really apply myself in terms of effort and time would I really find experiences that I could see with my regular eyes, in this 3rd dimension? Two, this is related, but I feel that to really commit to magic I'd like some real experience that I can't just deny as imagination IN THE BEGINNING, so does anybody know a harmless spell that a novice to magic could do? Something like creating light at night, which would be useful, but basically is just fluff, meaning it probably just gets one off the path of true spiritual evolution, but isn't really a big deal either way. But it would sweep away all remains of doubt in my mind, and that would be invaluable. Thanks.  Ben
4  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / thoughts and questions on NEW on: December 11, 2003, 22:46:05
When practicing NEW my mind completely rejects using awareness hands, I've ben doing it for years now, and I just can't make myself allow my "hands" to go through my body. I don't see this as a hindrance, because I can do NEW just fine with pure tactile imaging and mobile body awareness. I simply "feel" and area strongly and move that feeling around. Everything works great and I get all the tingles and fellings of well-being (from the breathing exercises). I was wondering about any of your thoughts on the matter of awareness hands and using NEW in general. I know that not using my awareness hands will make it harder to use RB's techniques for projection, since they are mostly based on them, but I'll find a way around it. I'd like to know about other people's experiences with modifying NEW to work for them, and general experiences with all those nice sensations NEW causes.  Ben
5  The Astral Library / Welcome to Book Reviews! / The Story of B by Daniel Quinn on: October 16, 2003, 15:36:05
I just finished this book yesterday, overall I found it to be very eye opening. The only thoughts I didn't agree with were his generalizations of how people have thought in the past, saying that all the great thinkers of the past all agreed that the world was made for Man by God. I highly doubt that, mainly because of the nature of the human mind, it is capable of great feats, and even if one of the noted thinkers didn't write it down, it doesn't mean someone didn't think of it. That one criticism doesn't discharge the power of the message in this book at all though. Everything in the book is stuff that we could think of ourselves but we don't, at least we don't remember and apply them. Basically, it advocates abandoning the "taker" culture, which is ours of course, and becoming part of the "leaver" culture, which is only expressed among a few small tribes. The taker culture is produced by thinking that the world was made for us humans alone and we can do whatever we want with it. Most people (expect for those in power) have already abandoned this and are trying to find something else. This something else is simple, all life is sacred and we are invariably a part of it. We simply can't seperate ourselves from the fact that we are one species in billions and that if you look around as much care was put into making us as was put into the smallest mite. The book lays this out in a much more progressive, detailed way, but that's the general message. I highly recommend it. Now I have to read Ishmael and My Ishmael. Ben
6  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / the astral pulse is huge now! on: October 01, 2003, 18:35:16
Hi

I was one of the people that posted on the forums semi-early on, about 3 or so years ago. I stayed with it for a couple of years and then became disinterested in it. This is the first time I've looked at it in at least a few months. Things sure have changed, it's so BIG! It makes me kind of happy and sad at the same time. Happy because there now exists a huge resource for people searching for answers, thus making their knowledge and experience increase and letting them know that there are many others like them out there. Sad because when it was smaller, things felt special, like it was just the beginning of bigger and better things. Now that some of those things have come to pass, I AM happy but there's almost too much info to look at now. I feel WAY behind, and my current life situation doesn't allow for the many hours of internet time required to catch up. I'm not trying to grump about the current state, I really do think it's great, and I'm not really asking for help from anyone in this, I just wanted to get my thoughts at this moment out there. I guess the only thing I can do, since I do want to get caught up, is to do it step by step. I just thought of something, this is kind of like a journal entry that thousands of people around the world can read, intersting. Oh yeah, does RB post very much now, or is he still super busy with his wonderful books and numerous other projects? I don't know why I ask, because more than likely he is, and that's another thing I miss about the earlier days, you could post to him and get a reply that afternoon possibly. Luckily there are many other qualified people out there to answer questions, but he IS the one that started all of this. End of rant. Ben
7  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / the NEW book on: May 09, 2003, 22:25:37
This isn't intended to apply any pressure to Mr. Bruce. That said, I can't wait until the complete book of NEW techniques comes out. NEW is by far the subject I'm most interested in at the moment, at least when related to other metaphysical subjects. Astral projection is cool, but after failing repeatedly, I determined I wasn't quite ready for it so I want to get my entire energy body primed before trying again. Besides, it's easier to incorporate it into a normal lifestyle than projection, you can do it at any time, at any place. Projection takes more of a commitment. Ben
8  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / just feel like posting on: November 09, 2002, 23:02:00
I was laying on the living room floor watching cartoons (at age 21 and proud of it!) and I got a little tingle near my brow center. I could have just scratched it and made it go away, but instead I used it to create a strong point with which to focus  my sense of touch directly on my brow. It activated immediately and then since I was in that state of mind, I activated (or at least tried to) all the other centers. It was fun, I just laid there a felt all of my centers, primary and secondary. I like how it's SO easy sometimes and way hard at other times, it creates variety, which I like. The rest of this post is off subject but it's what I'm thinking about right now so I'm going to write it.  I just bought Norah Jones' CD, it's amazing, I've never heard a voice like that. Also, I'm researching a future trip to Thailand to learn Thai Massage near Chiang Mai. That should be fun, the program (sunshine network) only costs about $230 for everything for a (14 day 90 hour), airfare is the most expensive part. Thailand is full of friendly people and is a traveler's paradise, look it up.  Ben
9  Spiritual Evolution / Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Coincidences on: October 27, 2002, 17:01:47
I was just down the road walking the family dog in the woods. On the way back, I met this neat older lady.  She said something about seeing javelina and then we just naturally flowed into a spiritual conversation.  It totally felt like a Celestine Prophecy coincidence, especially since the conversation was so effortless.  We just talked about how pure animals are, how the physical realm is important, but an illusion, and about the Carlos Casteneda books. She seemed pleased that someone so young (I'm 21) is on the journey to "wake up". I realized that I do all these spiritual and metaphysical things but I never really had the concrete realization that I was on "the path". It just seems like the only to do to me, and it never seemed weird because of places like this forum and many books (including fantasy fiction) that just made it my normal worldview. She is giving a talk at this bookstore in town on Nov. 7 that I'm sure I'll go to, and who know what kind of random connections may happen. I love all the little mysteries of life.  Ben
10  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Robert's NEW book on: October 06, 2002, 03:29:21
Hey, I was just looking the works in prgress part of the website. I remember hearing about the NEW book long ago, back when I was active on the forum. I saw that the release date was to be 2000 or 2001, that means it was pretty close to done. Does anybody like Donni or someone else who is close to Robert, or Robert himself, have any idea when it will be published? I like the fourm and the website, but I've found that I'm more productive when I stay off the computer and just read his books and do the practises. It's more of a one on one teaching session, than alot of theory and conjecture, and other random things that have been known to appear on this forum (not that I think that stuff is bad, it's just that for me, it makes me lazy). Thanks.  Ben
11  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / Spiritual use of drugs on: October 04, 2002, 01:16:50
Hey everyone, I haven't been here in a few months, time to get back into it. I was wondering about drugs because I've been readin PPSD and Robert talks about how they can increase the likelyhood of neg attack. I was wondering specifically about the spiritual use of so called "teacher plants" like Salvia Divinorum, Psylocybin cubensis (sp?) (obviously not a plant), peyote, and cannabis.  Shamans in Mexico and other places around the world have been using these and others for millenia to assist in spiritual development, healing, and journeys into the other world to gain wisdom. My gut instinct tells me that this is not a negative thing, that with the right "set" and "setting", to use the common terms for your state of mind and environment, it is possible to have fufilling, spiritual experiences that would only make your resistance to neg influance stronger. What are your thoughts? Thanks.  Ben
12  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / yet another technique on: April 24, 2002, 23:13:52
I read this book called Journey into Nature, which is awesome by the way. I recommend it, it's intensely spiritual. In the book, Pan (yes, the greek god Pan, and it;s non-fiction)  gives the author a projection technique. Basically, you are standing there, you jump up as high as you can, then you collapse to the ground, then you jump as high as you can, and so one. You repeat this around 11 times I think it said and then on the last jump, your spiritual body jumps and your physical body stays on the gorund. It makes sense. By repeating the jumping, you're creating a mental inertia-type force, and you're tiring your body out, so when you leave, your body is in the correct, calm state needed for to get back in. I'll try it soon. I recently got back into trying to project again. It's SO easy to get to the vibration state, then the heaviness state comes pretty easy too.  Then the vibrations come back, along with the heart center pounding away, then it seems I run out of steam. I think I'm still not relaxed enough. I do the willpower technique, I just try to relax, then force myself out, it definitely works well up to that point. I guess I'll just have to be the little engine that could.  Ben
13  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / massage and Fort Collins, CO on: April 24, 2002, 23:05:09
I'm thinking about getting into massage as a career. I've done alot of research, I just want to hear what all of you think about it. Do any of you have experience in that field? I'm also thinking about moving to Fort Collins, CO because it has a massage school, alot of cheap rent (though not many cheap houses to actually buy, the houses go for like $180,000), and I have to move out of the house anyway, so I might as well go there. Any of you have any good info on that place? Thanks.  Ben
14  Bug Reports and Questions / Forums Bugs Reports and Questions / THANKYOU ADRIAN, I CAN POST! on: April 24, 2002, 22:43:38
For the last couple of weeks I couldn't post at all. But then I read your tip to someone that he should go directly to the forums and not go through the main page. And TAAADAA, I can post now, ahhh, sigh of relief. I had tried everything, deleting all cookies, setting my browser to accept all cookies from the astral pules, and nothing worked. As to complaints about the new forum, I don't like how the poll is on every page, but since I have a cable modem, the speed is no different. The number on the bottom normally says .12 and is always less than a second. Also, I'd suggest making the "New topic" and "reply to topic" buttons being there at all times so that if people are having cookie problems like I was they could still insert their stuff each time they posted. But now that I can post I don't care about anything else. Thank you so much for doing this out of the kindness of your heart.  Ben
15  Spiritual Evolution / Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Talking with Nature on: April 14, 2002, 01:53:47
I'm reading the book shown in the subject by Michael Roads. It's very spiritual. It's all about how he can hear Nature's voice in his head, offering spiritual gifts along the way. Most of it has to do with the eternal "now" and how everything "is" everything else. You know, since god is everything, we are all god, thus we are all everything. One tidbit that I really liked was that at any and every momnet of our existence "This moment is perfect". I tried it out by closing my eyes and trying to think of anything around or within me that was truly wrong. My mind would try to come up with stuff, but you know what? There wasn't a single thing that was wrong, and nothing in the entire world that was wrong. I couldn't quite "feel" everything as perfect, but certainly nothing was "wrong". As the book says, it's not really like I'm reaching outside of myself for enlightenment, it's more that I just surrender myself to that perception. I can still feel some closed-off potions of myself, but I feel that I've taken a step. I still have desires and such (I'm human, they're part of being human), but it's all good, you know?  Ben
16  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / pressure? on: April 13, 2002, 16:07:15
I think that Robert describes this in Astral Dynamics, but I'm not sure. Sometimes I can feel this immense pressure all over my body. I felt it last night when I was listening to music (Miseducation of Lauren Hill) in the dark with my headphones on. It just feels like this immense weight has settled over my entire body, and sort of inside it too, or maybe it's more like I just realize it's there. I felt it when I used to try to astrally project (I've put that off for awhile) also. The weight/pressure feels in my mind that it should crush me, but at the same time it's almost comforting. It feels like my body and the feelings of the pressure are in different locations (I feel my hands are beside me feeling the pressure, when they're actually on my lap), so I'm guessing it has to do somehow with the seperation of the subtle bodies from the physical. Anybody have any insights?  Ben
17  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / Just looking for some advice on: April 12, 2002, 23:28:21
Hey everyone, here's the deal. I'm leaving for about 5 months time pretty soon for some summer work. My mom said that after that I need to either move out or pay rent (I'd rather starve on the street than do that, the paying rent to my parents part). I totally understand, I'm 20 years old, it's past time for it. I'm going to try to find 2 or 3 seasonal jobs so that I can jump from one to the other, without much time in between. It would be nice because they provide room and board, so I can save up my money (which I want to do for massage therapy school). But if it came down to it, and I needed to just get a regular job for awhile, I was wondering what advice any of you have for that situation. Like, how to find a roommate (I don't really socialize that much in Prescott, so I couldn't just ask a friend, I'm thinking that going to the registration office at a local college would be a good idea), what kind of bills to expect, and just general tips. You know, stuff that you wish you had known back then. It's weird, just a year or 2 ago, the meer thought of moving out and being on my own scared the crap out of me, now it feels like a welcome challenge that's been waiting to happen. I'm not totally clueless, I lived away from home during my one year at college, and I payed the little bills there (food, utilities) without asking for money. But that was easy because I only needed a part-time job to handle it all, since I didn't have tuition and rent to worry about. Also, more than likely, I'd move away from Prescott, so the advice you give (hopefully, fingers crossed) should be pertinent to someone starting at a brand new location. Thanks alot.  Ben
18  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / keeping rain off on: April 07, 2002, 22:58:08
It was raining yesterday (which is awesome because we're super-dry in Arizona right now) and I got out of my car and just stood there in the rain for a while. It felt good and gave me all sorts of nice shivers up and down my spine. After some time I decided to see if I could keep the rain off of me through manipulation of random possiblities using energy. As I was trying, I felt and snake of energy come out of my head and the rain stopped hitting me. I got freaked and went inside. Anybody know how to do that all the time? Ben
19  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / getting things started on: April 07, 2002, 22:51:48
Hey everyone, let's see, what should I talk about to start this forum off? Does anybody have any travel tips? You know, what to bring and all. I'm going to be in out of the way type places, so I'm already bringing my backpacking stuff, and my music, because even a couple of weeks without music sucks. But if anybody has experience with temporary summer work, and can give me any tips, I'd appreciate it. Thanks alot.  Ben
20  Metaphysics / Welcome to Metaphysics! / kind of off topic on: April 03, 2002, 23:12:02
There isn't an anything goes section of the forum, so I figure I'd put this here. Feel free to delete it moderators, or whoever does that. I'm just really excited. For the month of May I'm volunteering at this place called the Shambala Mountain Center in Colorado, which is on-topic, because they teach yoga and meditation and stuff, and I'll get to learn that stuff for free in exchange for 6 hours a day of helping to set-up their summer tent thing. Then I'm working in Idaho for the summer and some fall. I'm super excited about both of them, especially now, because I'm really close to having my travel arrangments, and I also changed the one trip from a 26 hour bus trip to a 1.5 hour flight, ahhhhh. Sweet relief. Oh well, I guess that's it. I'm just really, really excited right now.  Ben
21  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / once again on: March 30, 2002, 21:53:23
Today, I couldn't get on the forum, so I opened up the NEW tutorial. It's so nice to go back to the beginning with the exercises. I feel that same excitement about the whole thing again, I'm about to do the feet and legs section. It's all stuff that I can do with just a wave of awareness (as long as I'm warmed up and relaxed) but it's nice to go slow and hear what I imagine Robert's voice to be in my head, telling me what to do next. Ben
22  Dreams / Welcome to Dreams! / not lucid, but cool on: February 19, 2002, 22:51:41
I had this dream last night that started with me and a few other people climbing really high in this tree. Then we got to this big, scary house, which we explored for a while. I can't remember the details, but some of our group got killed (or captured, or turned to the other side, etc..) by nasty things. The next clear thing I can remember is this horribly decayed lady talking to me, and then a bunch of us throwing milk on all the bad things/people, destroying them. We killed all the bad things, but apparently the house itself is bad, so there's mention of having to go back later to destry it (another dream maybe). The feel of the dream was kind of nightmarish, but at the same time, I wasn't scared, like it was a mission or something. I woke up feeling really great. Maybe I cleared out some psychological stuff.  Ben
23  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / a question you might not like on: March 09, 2004, 03:25:51
Wow, my thread is still going strong, sweet! I kind of lost interest in the forum for a couple of months, but decided to check it out again tonight, I find that's a good way to find interesting information. Sit back, let everybody talk things over for a while, then come in a sift around for the stuff you enjoy. Even when I don't check this forum, it makes me so glad to know it exists, and happy to know it's increasing at such at a rate, because that mirrors a growing trend in society, even as that increase dilutes the content, somewhat annoying me. Ahh, the wonderfully balancing contradictory nature of life.  Ben

24  Astral Chat / Welcome to Astral Chat! / Robert Bruce's New Book on: March 09, 2004, 03:15:07
Donni told me he's also co-writing one about combining yoga and NEW.  Ben
25  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Tai Chi Students on: February 13, 2004, 22:41:39
I practiced the old Yang style for about 9 months, including the sword form. It was great, an excellent form of meditation, and you really begin to feel the energy of your body after a while. Anything that centers you like has to be good. Now I've left the area where I learned it, forgot the sword form, and only occasionaly practice the hand form. Still, it all comes back when I do it, I sort of feel like I've learned a real skill that I can carry with me for the rest of my life, unless I forget it completely of course, then I'll just learn a new style, it's the pracitce itself, not the moves.  Ben
