A lot of this stuff comes from visions I see during meditation/comedy. I've been trying to do one once a day and its mostly pen and ink + water colors!

Lumaza - I've had quite some success since you recommended the Doorway technique. How rapid my physical awareness starts to shut down and switch into the non-physical is astounding. I think it all has to do with becoming curious about the scenes that are whooshing around behind my closed eyes.
The part I've been getting stuck at is that everything I see still takes on the same color tone as I see when I just close my eyes and look randomly during the day, its sort of like a mauve, dark red/purple with flashes of electric blue to show highlights, which doesn't look realistic to me - although maybe I haven't gone far enough.

Also - when I try to picture the doorway after staring into the blackness for sometime, I can catch glimpses of it, but it always seems to be moving like my perspective is constantly changing, one second its on the right then it switches distance and is far down on the left, its hard to keep track of it. I am supposed to be "seeing" it in blackness correct? Not picturing it in my imagination.
4  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Getting bored while waiting to project on: September 25, 2015, 07:20:42

My suggestion is to reverse the order in which you invest your effort. You are more likely to succeed the deeper your physical relaxation is and this will typically increase during your session. If you put all your energy into a non physical focus while your body is still not relaxed you will burn out, get bored and frustrated.

very true - this is some good advice. I typically jump right into visualization as if that's going to speed up the process. I usually get to sleep paralysis and even when I get bored it takes some time for my physical body to wake up and react to my thoughts because I'm usually pretty far out there. I know I'm super close to the phase every time, its like I can feel something/someone rooting for me and its like that feeling of seeing all your friends jump off the high dive and you're next and just anticipating how the next 30 seconds will be after you jump.

@Lamanza thank you for those technique suggestions!

@Astralsuzy - You said it perfectly, I know I just have to get out and its really as simple as that. I've consciously phased before but lost some of the effort when I stopped practicing a year ago. Now its all second guessing myself and you really just have to sit up into the things that are right there!
5  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Getting bored while waiting to project on: September 24, 2015, 22:13:02
Does anyone else get bored while waiting for your body to fall asleep so that you can get into the deeper states and project? I recently got into practicing AP again and still have yet to consistently project when I attempt early in the morning. I practice the 3D blackness noticing technique that Frank and William Bulhman talk about.
I know you are supposed to release all expectations and try to remain somewhat detached as things start happening, but sometimes looking into the swirling color and random faces/objects that are flashing through my vision really quickly (like 1/s) gets me wanting to yawn. I practice meditation and understand this is probably my ego trying to come into play, but 45 minutes of really strong visualization (walking through my mothers house, picking up objects, noticing them etc) just gets boring.
I guess I really am expecting too much haha, just curious if other folks enjoy the waiting before you phase.
6  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: To the masters out there - being in the astral and physical at the same time? on: September 18, 2015, 08:29:10
Hm wow - I agree Xanath Smiley we are here and there always. I guess I was really curious in the idea of somewhat who was able to phase in between or as someone else said, sort of like paying attention to one thing as in reading a book while the background of the room is still there but less apparent. SO people who are really good at this could probably flit back and forth between one focus and the other - so say you're bored in line at the grocery store, could you phase out and go explore another planet and then pop back in this reality as quickly as when we look at a magazine cover in line and become lost in the story and then look up quickly when we realize we've been holding up the line because we haven't been "here".
7  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / To the masters out there - being in the astral and physical at the same time? on: September 17, 2015, 09:15:38
So I've heard Tom Campbell talk about this a few times in some of his lectures. He mentioned that in the early days of the Monroe Institute, Tom and some of the pioneers were able to simultaneously exist in several states of consciousness. They were able to be out of body in the astral, but physically able to recount what was happening at the same time in their isolation booths into a microphone in which Bob Monroe was able to instruct them while they were out of body.

I wanted to know if any regular projectors out there have been able to do this? Be in different phases of consciousness at the same time. It seems like a really extreme way to exist in this physical reality while also existing in a reality where time doesn't matter and all the other differences. huh

are these helpful entities ever  another human being astral projecting?. Or are they just always spirits.

This information wasnt very clear while i was experiencing the projection. Whatever it was, it was definately more advanced than me, and more comfortable in the astral. It felt like a really old friend was talking to me, and open to my suggestions as to what i was experiencing as well.

Awesome, i know exactly what u are describing when you speak of the 'drunk' feeling when you first exit.. It feels great though!

Nice job! 15 was the age when i began exploring projection/different states of consciousness and breathing techniques. Needless to say, a few years later and I find myself in infinite gratitude for the experiences and lessons learned during this first sessions. Keep at it, your opening new doors that a lot of people wont know for a very long time, or ever if that. Your doing a lot better than i was!

Thanks! Hopefully more meetings with this entity. He wss very personable and relatable, as if a member of my family.

Ive had a small number of encounters with entities that can interact with me (always human form) but all have not really given me the time of day. This was the first encounter with one that actually sought me out to help.. Thanks random french dude!

So - I will be using this is a general OBE journal for now - experiences have been few and far between (had about 5-6 in the last 2 months, 4 being conscious, willed exits).

This OBE - #6 - took place at a cabin that I was spending the long weekend at that I don't normally frequent. First OBE I've had away from my usual sleeping quarters of my home bedroom. This was not very much an induced exit, but it was willed. I say willed because sometimes I wake up with a knowing choice due to the state I am in (not quite fully awake) to leave my body, or fall back into the world of none OBE rtz sleep. It is a very specific feeling that only occurs upon the unset of an OBE, right at the point of exit. Of course I always choose OBE, but I feel as if I can remain in my body and drift back to sleep if I desired.

The time when this occured was around 6 a.m. Something that has been true for the  spontaneous OBEs I've had is that I am usually catching up on sleep during the mornings when I am able to sleep in after not getting good sleep for a few nights prior (only 5 hours of sleep a night). Then I sleep for 10 hours, and some point in the early morning when I'm extremely comfortable and content is when the OBEs usually happen

As usual, I sat up out of my body with the normal, expanded, light headed, but exited feeling of once again being given the beautiful gift consciously leaving my body. I usually say a little prayer of peace and thanks to myself as I get up.

This time was different, not only was I in a different setting, but as I got up, there was an entity waiting in the bedroom for me. He had the form of a young (about 17 years old), smaller french (he had a mild accent) youth;slender, jet black hair and a little stubble. I viewed him immediately as a positive being, and he let me get my bearings together before he made any form of communication (I surprisingly wasn't alarmed to see him, he had a very welcoming presence).

We began communicating through thought. Neither of us were opening and closing our mouths, but I felt his thoughts forming in me none the less. He basically said that he was there to help me get a little further than I usual do with OBEs. He was probably referring to the fact that in my last few OBEs, I've gotten bored, or scared, or discouraged, and stopped the OBE prematurely. I've never really explored more than around my house or down the street with my recent OBEs. Its mostly because I do not know how to control the travel, sensations and methods of maneuvering through the astral world very well. In other words, I am a noob.

I thanked him for the generosity and agreed to have him guide me further from the cottage I was staying in that I probably would have gone if I was there on my own having the OBE. He asked if I would like to start by going down the road to the woods at the end, which I agreed to. We floated down the road, and once in the woods, he began explaining to me how I was to teleport myself to different parts of the world in an instant by just thinking of it. He kind of downloaded the knowledge into me, and I thought about a village in France I had once visited, and I opened my eyes and so we were there, in this small french village, on a rural road just outside of town. I was neither too impressed, or scared at this point, so I kind of let him lead from here once I showed him I was comfortable with his direction.

The OBE began to take on a more dream like form after this, and we ended up in a high rise office building walking towards a group of people seated on chairs in a circle,  socializing in the lobby. He introduced me to them, and just sat back and watched me as we began talking about things I don't remember to well. I mostly remember him just watching me absently and making sure I was still there.. however, I think he realized my control over my OBE was dwindling (maybe because he had taking me too far out of the ATZ which is where I am comfortable and able to control my lucidity the easiest). But once he put me in this possibly higher, astral level, I was not used to it and as such, my control began to diminish.

The OBE ended very soon as I began to lose control, and I woke up with a start in my bed at the cottage, amazed at what had just happened.

gahhh .. i have trouble going through windows, doors and walls too! its like I don't trust it/believe it wont work so it doesn't! but  I agree with post about every OBE is amazing... I've been having one a week for the past week and I spend the rest of the day thinking about it and recounting it.... sometimes the entire week thinking about it.. and all I did was walk around my house like I normally do (well, I "float" around actually)
14  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Re: projected again... got bored lol on: April 14, 2012, 06:21:25
Grey..thats an interesting thought.. Im usually in so much awe that i'm projecting and everythings so real, im nervous to try anything too unusual. Bob monroe said it took a year of constant projecting before he felt comfortable to leave his house/neighborhood.. It feels kind of like when you pick ip the controller of a new video game you've never played before.. You know its possible to do a certai  move, you just dont know the correct button combination to push to complete the move.. So you keep practicing. I had a projection a few years ago when i tried to fly to the moon. I kept going up about 150 ft.. And im scared of heights in the physical, so i would just keep floating back down. The farthest ive ventured that i can remember during a projection was just a few miles away to where a highway is. I sat ontop of an exit sign and watched the cars speed beneath me.

Todd... These last two projections have both occured around 8 or 9 in the morning.. I dont remember any vibrational sensations or other typical phenemenon that you commonly read about. I simply sat up in my bed.. Feeling my body disconnect from my physical almost like getting up out of a groove that youve been sitting in a leather couch for awhile. I always know im projecting when i sit up because its a very distinct, euphoric feeling. Im usually a little light headed and slightly off balance.. Takes me a few moments to get used to the floating sensation.
15  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Re: projected again... got bored lol on: April 13, 2012, 00:36:10
thanks brother todd....   2 self induced projections in the last two weeks is my personal best.... it seems to also be because I have a reaaally long day on wednesday.... and tuesday night usually involves me not getting any sleep...... then thursday comes around, and well, time to catch up with sleep, and whats weird is i always wake up somewhat early, and the common situation here is that I will be immensely comfortable. Like one of those situations where your in the perfect blanket to non-blanket combination, and theres a perfect crease make in the pillows for your head that you've worked at throughout the night, lol. This is when I get a weird feeling in the back of my head telling me its a good time to project. I close my eyes briefly, and I'm out really quick. I have to work on taking advantage of them more though.. It seems like when I'm out its like not a big deal to me.. but yet I try every other night/morning throughout the week lol.
16  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / projected again... got bored lol on: April 12, 2012, 17:24:07
So thursdays seem to be the magic day for projections for me, the day i can sleep in if i choose too, and early morning willed projections are ripe for the picking. I projected this morning by a new technique that i kind of winged on the spot by changing my focus to an imaginary object that is on my fingers. Its gotta be something cool that i cam get my astral body really interested in looking at... This morning it was worms. The more i imagined them on my fingers, the more i wanted to look at them which eventually willed me out of my body and forced my astral self to sit up.

So basically walked around my house and again, this projection felt so real that i couldnt believe it was real and was scared to do anything weird bc it might actually be in the physical lol. Well i played with the moon physics for awhile... Jumped on an excercise ball and flew across the room. Went back upstairs and asked to see the lottery numbers, which a ton of different numbers appeared as a metallic plaque on my bedpost. Tried to take pictures with my camera phone... Which was silly.. I just got bored and rewoke up the physical... SO SHOCKED that that actually happened.

anyone else experienced the weird, slightly detached, euphoric drunkenness I'm talking about when they are out?
18  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Re: Haven't posted on here in years - but wanted to recount a projection this mornin on: March 31, 2012, 16:53:52
Thanks everyone - The entire experience lasted for what felt like 25-30 minutes in the astral world... no idea how long in the physical.

I've retried the technique with no success the past few mornings (too many people in my house running around). I no longer try before I fall asleep at night because usually I'm much too tired, and the concentration required to enter the trance state is extremely difficult; much rather go to sleep and try again in the morning when my body is more comfortable.

But yeah, for me, its just about concentrating on sloooooooow deep breathes for as long as you can sustain. I think about being in scenes of nature, sitting next to a slow moving river, in a meadow. Laying against an old pine on the hillside of a mountain.. just imagining what that experience must be like. Usually this, combined with the slow breathing, is enough to relax my body into sleep, but the imagining keeps my mind focused.
19  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Re: Affecting me on a loneliness level on: March 29, 2012, 18:07:56
You'll project when your ready.. I just had a very intense OBE that was self induced after 5 years of not really attempting.....
20  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences! / Haven't posted on here in years - but wanted to recount a projection this mornin on: March 29, 2012, 18:04:49
So I haven't posted on here in years (probably 5 or more) but  I recently got re interested in projecting and decided to give it a go this morning. I'd been trying half heartily the last few nights, and began lurking around the forums, rereading techniques and basically rediscovering astral projection. I started attempting to learn when I was pretty young, younger teens, and now that I am in my young 20's, I have grown both spiritually and mentally since those first years of making attempts. I am forever grateful for those years though (sorry, I find myself reminiscing about my early pains of spiritual experimentation when I hit on this topic in conversation  cry, so beautiful).

Anyway, I woke up a an hour or so before I usually do (about 7:30) and decided instead of falling back to sleep to practice a few deep breathing techniques, slowing it down to 10 breaths a minute. Well..... that was it, the key.. I've never had such a quick self induced OBE before in my life, but it happened within the first 3 minutes. I felt my body return to sleep, and as the mind and body separated, I was still aware I was focusing on my slow breathing. I quickly took advantage of the situation and stood up out of my bed. The familiar euphoric/detached/drunk but still mentally sharp feeling swept over me that is characteristic of OBE's for me in the beginning as I get used to the altered feeling of consciousness separating from the physical body..

Immediately I noticed that the light coming through my window was exactly how the sunlight would look at this specific time of day. I felt very weird since I haven't had a self induced OBE in a long time. It was so real, and I realized how blessed I was to be able to have self induced an OBE at that moment, I had to take advantage of it! I summoned the courage to jump through my 2nd story window which is how I have exited my house of previous OBE's. I floated to the bottom of the wood porch that wraps around the side of my house and was extremely happy that the early morning sunlight was precisely how the sunlight should look at 7:30 am.

Let me make note here that this was probably the most self aware OBE I've ever experienced... Other than the slight sloppy/euphoric/detached feeling that I mentioned earlier that I feel in the beginning of OBE's, there was no difference between this and how normal physical reality feels. The feeling of happiness was immense as I walked to the corner of the street. The few times I've projected while trying to, it's so hard to imagine that its real, I have to keep checking the physics of the astral world to make sure I'm not just walking around my neighborhood in the physical doing crazy things. Its really hard to accept for me, so I still haven't gotten to take advantage of the limitless possibilities that exist outside of the body.

I checked by climbing a metal street pole at the end of the street a lot quicker than I ever could've in the physical (I haven't done this since a kid). I got down quickly because again, it felt so real, I was scared someone was going to call the cops or something, I still wasn't convinced I was projecting. I tried yelling at the people I saw walking around as I walked another block to a local park. No one heard me or took notice. I became discouraged, and had a million ideas on what to do for fun but the fact that it was hard for me to accept that this was a real OBE was slowing me down. It was like in harry potter, when someone's wand is broken, they're magic becomes very difficult to do.

I walked the two blocks back to my house, playing with the weird physics but jumping up, and floating back down every so often. I came across a young black girl walking down my block (probably 9 or 10 years old) I yelled at her like I did with everyone else, but this time she responded. She turned around and looked at me... I was so shocked, I said "can you hear me?!". She nodded 'yes', and I ran up as she kept walking and began asking her name.  We sat down on my neighbor's stoop, but he wouldn't tell me her name, so I asked her if she was another person projecting. She responded by saying "yeah, I can tell you lack experience though". I then asked her how she was so experienced for being so young.. she responded by saying "I'm much older in the physical plane, I just choose to look like this here because I feel most comfortable being a kid". I kept asking her name which she wouldn't give me, but was laughing that I wanted to know so bad, so I could recount her name on the forums (thats right, the internet has made it to the astral, at least in our minds lol, which is all we are there anyway I guess) and meet up with her again, so I could have a friend to travel with. She looked to the street when I noticed there was an old rusty honda parked out in front.

There were two middle aged, dread-locked black women sitting in the front seats that were smiling with red lipstick. I walked up to the passenger side and realized they saw me to, so I asked if they knew the little girl. They said they were traveling with her, and that I was silly for asking for her name, and they definitely not going to give me her name. This was all done so in an amusing matter, almost as if they were poking fun at how inexperienced I was. They were friendly, and they made another joke by saying I may have "found my 2nd wife" pertaining to the young girl. Well, I'm not married, although I have been dating a woman for over a year now. I could tell the conversation had ended, and I was feeling somewhat tired of doing boring things in my neighborhood, so I walked up to my front door and tried to walk through like I have in past OBE's. Well, again, the sensation that I was in the physical plane because everything was so weird kept washing over me, and I couldn't walk through the door because I didn't think I could, I was in disbelief. I finally did after like 10 tries of bumping into the door, lol.

Walked into my kitchen, poured a glass of milk... made the milk boil in the cup with my mind (I know, lame, but I wanted to reassure myself I was still projecting). Took some milk out of the cup, threw it on the floor and began experimenting with it's new physics, like it was mercury, or playdo. I could shape the milk like it was a solid of some sort. Decided I was done with the OBE, walked back upstairs to my bedroom and when I walked through my door. As I walked through my door I immediately woke up in the physical and sat up in my bed. Very quickly the OBE was escaping from my head and began feeling more and more like a dream. As I stared at my fish tank, I knew it wasn't though, and called a close friend and began immediately recounting the OBE.

There's a lot of hope that was instilled in me during this OBE. Next time I will try and have more courage to explore the world, other than the two blocks in my neighborhood. It's just so startling when it happens (the OBE) that its hard to do anything than walk around in a stupor at how amazing it is! That in itself is very fun!

Thanks guys... let me know if you have any questions!

Hey, this is kind of random, but do any of you know who the famous artist is that paints metaphysical paintings? He's pretty famous, um... I don't really remember his first name, it was like David or something. I think he has glasses, but he paints all these cool images of like a mother with a baby in her womb, but with like spiritual energy around them, and paintings of different races of people, with spiritual energy. A lot of his paintings incorporate spiritual energy into them. I think someone on this site actually has one of his painting as an avatar. Well, thanks!

25  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / so close! ALMOST OBE! on: December 07, 2005, 01:50:25
Hi everyone... well last night I think I was extremely close to having an OBE. For the past week or so, I have been trying the technique on the "how to" guide on this site, and just basically experimenting with it. Well, I have been kind of tired recently, but I just got a lot of sleep in because I had a long weekend. So last night, I used the technique, and since I was able to stay conscious without falling asleep (since I am well rested), I was able to make some significant improvements.
Right away, when I was doing the relax every part of your body technique, I noticed my body was relaxing faster then normal, bc I was putting all my concentration into it. In about 5 -10 minutes, I was completely numb, and it felt like I had turned into a gel, I couldn't feel anything at all. I then went into the energy raising exercise where you imagine your breathing in colored air. I became even more relaxed, and started to forget about the physical world.  I thought I was ready to do the feather technique, and I started imagining that on every exhale, I was a feather, and would drop a couple of feet, and on the inhale I would stop... etc.
Well, this went on for a few minutes, and I could feel my mental state changing fast. I started to feel all warm and fuzzy, and just told myself to chillax, lol. All these thoughts started rushing through my head, and everything started to slllllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwww down. I heard a whooshing like tea kettle sound, and a slip pop. My heart started to beat very very fast, and I started to feel cold and clammy. I felt like a sort of radiation pulsing through my body, and I felt like I was glowing, and parts of me were getting transformed, it was an odd feeling. I was so ready for it, I was pumped, because I knew I just had to relax, and I'd be out. I got to excited, and I thought my heart was going too fast, so my concentration wasn't in it anymore. When I got out of it, my heart was still beating pretty fast, and I could feel it when I put my hand on my chest. I decided not to try a second time, since I felt like all my mental energy was drained, and that was that. Well, I just wanted to basically share my experience with you guys, but I wanted to know how close was I? Also, what should I do at the point where my heart is beating really fast, and I start to feel like I'm transforming, like how do I get out? Also, why does your heart beat so fast? Is it bad for you? Thank you very much for your help and support!
