Its never too late to develop non-physical abilities, because the point of it is to remain conscious after physical death and consciously choose to evolve (rather than mechanically re-entering physical again and again). And I've heard that this ability develops exponentially, if you are after it, if this is the only thing you are concerned about in your life.

Trips like these are a real bonus, it is a good achievement (compared to some of us who barely get out of their bedroom). Encouraging indeed. It does not matter for now whether it was a real time environment (with a physical counterpart) or merely a mental creation. Important thing is to keep doing it, till you know.

About the language part, its my personal experience that if we encounter something totally alien, which we never saw before, our mind tries to make it familiar and sort of distorts it to conform to its own knowledge. The written words in astral are a good example. They always morph into whatever you want them to be. So it is best to look at any writing casually and just note it quickly by repeating once, if you stare at it, it will morph.

I liked the para you wrote about ego. It sounds exactly like Hindu karmic system. We are here only because of karmic bondage and our goal is to burn them out and see everything as it is and what we are. If you have come up with that para on your own, then its a bigger achievement IMO. If one can gain such insights simply by AP, then AP has served its purpose well.

You are simply experiencing hypnogogic noises. These occur when you are on the edge of sleep and wakefulness. For me these take the form of loud bangs, someone calling my name, rushing noise etc etc. This stage is an indication that you are about to separate.

Best thing to do in this condition is to passively watch and let it happen. This will be followed by a huge silence, this is when you are out. If you pay attention to the noises, you will be back immediately.

I like your attitude. We must study the process and make it so reliable that it can be used to project at whim. Now there are 1001 methods to project, but one that works every time and for everyone is impossible to find.

It sounds very much like kundalini to me. Looks like you found a way to activate it on will.

I have frequent experience of long term episodes and memory recall along with validation in Focus 1. I find I have been doing this most of my life. It's very easy and you can do it too!
I spend a lot of time there and have met a few people I see regularly. However you have to watch out for negative entities there who will be a drain on you. But most of the people there are nice but not all of them are aware they are in Focus1. I have given up trying to explain it to them because they either laugh, avoid you, or in some cases attack you.

I find I can consume substances called food and this helps me to continue in this state, I surmise it is some type of energy. I can walk around, see things, sit, rum and open and walk through doors; even close them!

This is very interesting because it is a little often overlooked state of mind that is not fully understood.



Lol Smiley, for once I was fooled. But good point there. The physical is not fully understood, no doubts about that. However the author called it C1 (I guess).
Most of the people are still unaware of the physical mostly in some kind of sleep state, mostly acting out of pre-programmed instincts. Physical is a big mystery just like any other plane.

It looks like your energy body reacted to the sudden shock. That's all. Nothing to worry about.
This happens during waking state too, in situations of fear or extreme sadness. The heart center becomes so heavy that some people can't stand up.

You felt it in all centers, may be because you have attained that level of sensitivity. I've had such experiences when I was snapped back with a jerk and it was not painful but had extreme sensations in heart and throat etc.

If you wish to avoid this, practice maintaining clam during a projection, not expecting anything, but completely aware like a hunter. Nothing will distract you when you master this state of mind.

Well, I'd advise you to satisfy yourself thoroughly before attempting a projection. You will lose interest in such things and projection will be smooth.

I will leave it to you to decide the actual method to use, either get a real (physical) girlfriend, use porn or imagination etc etc.

In my experience too much control of instinctive desires (like food, sex or sleep etc) leads to suppression/repression of them and they pop up with 100x strength at the wrong time (e.g. when you are oob). Keeping a moderate lifestyle helps, these desires will naturally lessen with age and after 40, you will not find them so distracting.

The word "focus" is being used here in three different senses (F27, F3/4 or "focus of the self") to describe things that may or may not be identical or even related. This is unfortunate, as I feel English has not run out of new words and government has not banned coining of new words (yet). Smiley

The truth is, that no one knows what truth is... Its all theories, so don't take them very seriously. Its fun guessing whats all this about though. Some things are becoming evident as we (mankind) evolve. It has been established both by material sciences and spiritual ones, that the physical world is an illusion, a virtual reality created by our minds, a product of our perceptions. Time and space are merely illusions, no doubts about it. Experienced ones will tell you that even Astral and higher worlds are illusions, although not as solid and persistent as this one. Probably due to the fact that they are closer to "that which is". This "that which is", some sort of ultimate stuff, which simply is, is what this universe is, and of course is us also.

So this universe, we and our all incarnations are illusions created by that which is, which appear to be "placed at" various spaces and times. This is called Lila. (Hindus always use new words to describe new stuff). As you move away from illusions, the virtual reality starts breaking and identity, ego, space, time etc start making little sense. Finally, you are left with nothing or emptiness, which is that which is, and this is called Nirvana.

By this time you must have felt that the question - whether incarnations are in one time or different times, one identity or different one,..... is meaningless. Yes, its not very important, once you are awake (Chetan in Sanskrit is the exact word). What is important is to understand the Lila, see it and know it. It lasts for a split second, all that which is quickly throws you back into the virtual reality.

I don't know why this is so. It is amusing that there is something.

You need to stay more aware as you fall asleep and prevent dreams from taking over.

IMO, these are vibrations. They come in many flavors. From mild electrical buzz to slow earthquake like sensations. It is nothing to worry about. It happens every night to every one. You have simply witnessed it consciously. It is a part of sleep process, when the brain cuts off its sensory-motor connections and puts body into sleep paralysis. Now you are free to go out and explore.

Somewhat like taking a natural red pill.

I've actually been trying to project for a few years.

It would help if you describe what methods you use for projecting, how often you try and how good you are at it.

The fleeting projections/lucid dreams that you write of, can be due to over excitation or too much relaxation. Once you find yourself out, you can't keep calm and focused and it brings you back immediately, and on the other hand, if you are not motivated enough or too deep in trace, you may fall asleep.

One remedy is to form a firm intention to project and slow down the projection process (assuming you are good at projecting in general). Spend more time observing yourself and the process, instead of reacting to the imagery and sounds. Once you are out, continue this attitude and simply observe without thinking or reacting. Any excitation, or intense desires or fast movement will abort it for sure.

Once you are good at keeping steady and still in astral, attempt some simple actions, like slow movements or seeing around. This should give you some time to explore instead of .... "BOOM! I saw something"...

The astral state of consciousness is a very very narrow window of mental state (for us mortals) and is very fragile. One must learn to stay in this window for as long as possible by seeing what works and what does not.

Good posts by Tiny and Stookie above, and I'd like to add that it is natural to experience a "resistance" initially, as the body fights back to put you back on the rails of habit. So learning relaxation or meditation is just like learning to overcome any other habit. If you wish to call that learning.

It needs a dedication similar to that needed for say, muscle training. You lift weights every alternate day and go on increasing the weight every week, and you do this for months and months to form a decent body. Just like a weight trainer starts with small weights initially, a meditator should start small, like simply sitting still for 30 min or stopping the thought train while washing dishes. You'd find that even these small tasks are very difficult for a starter.

The trick here is to consciously and attentively (but softly) watch in your mind, these distractions/feelings/thoughts/sensations etc as they arise and their kinetics. You will find that simply observing them like this makes them disappear without a need to react. The moment you lose your attention, these habitual entities shall take over and you will find yourself reacting.

Once you have some command over doing it willfully, you should attempt longer sessions and finally dedicated sessions. I personally don't recommend bed time to do this, but if it floats your boat go ahead. The best time to meditate (even for a seasoned meditator) is early in the morning. Get up earlier than usual, say an hour and half earlier and do your routine stuff, then go back to bed or sofa to meditate. You will find that its easier this way, not much discomfort or agitation.

Initially you may fall asleep while meditating, its ok. With practice you will spend longer and longer in trance before falling asleep. With time you will be able to meditate at any time of the day, in any posture and all sorts of surroundings.

Etheric and astral bodies detach and leave the physical naturally every night, when you fall asleep.
So its not a question of making it "loose" enough to detach, it already is "loose", however, it is under tight control of habit.

Mastering AP takes time because its difficult to break this naturally ingrained habit and to bring the process of separation under willful control. By practicing the loosening techniques you are trying to make the etheric detach at your whim, while you are fully conscious. This of course takes time to achieve. But you can also have an AP in 5 min, if the conditions are right, without any "loosening". Although, you won't be able to repeat it at your command and will be on the mercy of mother nature.

You are only starting, but let me tell you that there is such thing as "too much loosening" which is not recommended. When I was practicing this thing a few years ago, I have personally felt myself falling off the chair, when my physical was sitting steadily. And it was as real as reality and happened 3-4 times to me. One can also feel disoriented all the time and in a sort of dream world. I have also seen hyper sensitivity to noise and presence of some people while practicing it, which is interesting, but becomes unpleasant after some time.

It seems the Matrix has corrected itself in your case (that's how I describe it Wink )

In other words, your brain has noticed the funny "anomaly" occurring whenever it tries to do the "important stuff", which is sleeping, repairing, and house keeping and all that routine, and has somehow "corrected it" (switched it off). This has happened to me a few times, and I found it very difficult to revert back. Some people even think that some entity or neg is preventing them from AP, because that's how it seems when the brain enforces its own wish while you are seriously trying to AP.

One trick, that I find useful is to not to do anything at all. Simply give up AP for a few weeks or months and "ground" yourself. But continue the light meditation and mental silence practice. Developing oneself spiritually also helps, which usually means getting rid of materialistic stuff and desires.

I have read your thread where you described your AP method in detail and very beautifully, and I really liked it. It is one of the best posts lately. Keep it up and let us know of your progress. All the best ... Smiley

Then perhaps you should not do all that when in vibe state ...
Sometimes doing too much achieves too less. Rope/log/ladder etc etc are means to strengthen intention and keep the awareness alive, when the natural process of separation is going on. Taking it too literally will not work.

If you easily manage to get to the vibes while being fully lucid and aware, just let it happen, keeping a slightly curious and neutral state of mind. Relaxing a bit more, but not too much, and just passively observing. It works for me sometimes. Smiley

While I was standing in the yard I had full waking consciousness. I knew my name, address etc. I knew that I was either asleep, in some altered state of consciousness or in another reality. I stood there for a minute and let it all soak in. My quality of perception was very good this time and the quality of vision and my senses was superb, equal to or better than waking life.

I looked around and the first thing that came to mind was that I needed to validate and collect evidence.

I think it sounds like a run of a mill OBE till the above quoted line, where, as you rightly said, it all turned into a dream. For me also, collecting evidence is usually the first thing that I think of as soon as I get out (and sometimes seek an evolved being, for getting some confirmation or help or knowledge). I start by reciting my name, address, phone number, just as you did, to ascertain that I'm really "me" in that weird place. Then the proof process begins, but so far nothing has worked for me. The problem here is as soon as you "want" something it instantly starts happening, but only in a very twisted way.

I guess having a definite proof protocol would ensure stability. But I have no idea what it should be.

IMO, if you find yourself wide awake past the vibration stage, it mostly means that the attempt has failed. You stay there for a while and then the habitual pattern of going to sleep kicks in.

You can surely resist the urge to turn over, but it is usually very strong and the body will punish you with all kinds of pains, if you resist this for too long. Nature works in strange ways. With practice and with time you can overcome it. Honestly, I usually surrender to this force and find myself helpless.

A better way would be to get up after the failed attempt and do something for a few minutes. Then go back to it. A matter of chance, obviously. Another way is to practice AP in early morning, when the body has already completed the sleep process and will not interfere. This is the golden "Get up early" technique.

Heard the click sound... felt very ligth... my mind was extremly clear.. I got up out of my bed as I would normaly... Feeling my legs heavy, but the rest of the body ligth.. Btw, your all symptoms points to very shallow state of trance. If you can see the room, hear the noises etc, you are not deep at all and should not attempt to project from there.

How to keep the stray thoughts out ?

Thoughts like 'oh its happening' or 'why nothing is happening' or 'i m feeling tired now' or any other thought or internal dialog usually occurs while attempting a projection. This usually ruins the projection process.
The solution is to develop a skill to stop the mental chatter at will. This comes with the practice of self introspection, being aware of one's internal dialog. You will see that as soon as you observe the chatter, it will vanish. It comes back again, but you must keep your guard and see it, let it be for a while, then gently terminate it without any reaction.

This is basic meditation actually and helps a lot if done 24x7 (both in astral and physical). This should be practice while attempting a projection. As soon as a thought occurs which is not merely a noting and starts to turn into a story, you must observe it as if it is not your thought. It will vanish. Do this again and again, till its totally peaceful.

When trying to separate, does it actually feel like your consciousness is floating out or is it just out there?
Do you focus on trying to leave your body, or just think about it and wait for it to happen?


I'd like to add to what Xanth is saying.
When one is exactly at the moment of separation there is a momentary blip in the consciousness. It fades and comes back in a non-physical way. Now, some may not even notice this, for them its like instantly out, no floating, no sounds ...

With practice, some may start noticing it, in which case, there is a smooth transition and the blip is very tiny. During this you may hear loud noises or feel yourself rising up and floating away.

As for getting aroused or afraid or excited, it usually means that you will not project. Absolute calm and indifference is needed to get out consciously. As you are a meditation student, you should have no problems handling this. Equanimity will come through practice.

One more thing, IMO, if you remain focused on the body part where a particular chakra is, you will remain stuck to the physical. Chakras are not physical, don't take them literally.
