1  World Religions / Welcome to World Religions! / Re: Women & Islam... on: Today at 01:45:25
Hi Anelie

Thanks for taking the time to explain Islam.  I must say you sound quite supportive of Islam and the Prophet, and your note above seems to justify the oppression of women in muslim and Indian cultures.

Personally, it doesn't matter how many cutlures or religions share the same values, or who issued the orders, or what an ancient holy book says, it is unfair, unacceptable, inhuman and unethical to treat anyone less than others on the basis of gender (or sexual orientation or race).

To quote from your note:
"yes, a muslim women is dominated by a man, but she has a very good life, because their man take a very good care of them, and their are happy."

Looking after someone does not reserve the right to dominate the person. And if anyone believes that happiness is being taken care of by someone who dominates them, then the person needs to do some growing up.

Again thanks for your post, but I really doubt you can convince anyone on this forum that Islam is a fair and simple religion as you painted it above.  Certainly not me.

Good luck with whatever you decide to follow.  We all have free will.

Black holes: I am reading William Buhlman's book - black holes are portals in between dimensions.  They are built within the membranes of the universe.
Space: is not empty - there is energy everywhere.  It depends whether it's energy in its purest form or consensus/non-consensus energy (also known as consciential energy).
Universe: whoever said there is one universe?  it is as arrogant as saying there is only one earth in the universe.  No one knows how big the universe is and how many universes there are.
Parallel energy system/dimension: I don't know about alternate, but there is a parallel dimension in the universe, very close to the physical dimension.  And by the way "we"  did not bomb Japan.  The USA bombed Japan.  Or are you assuming everyone is from the US here?

This is the World Wide Web.

LOL. I tried my best to sit up but couldn't.  I also thought that I would need lots of energy to get out of my body (may not be true).  Plus, the hypnagogic state is not the most comfortable situation to be in...  I prefer to have a blackout then find myself outside my body or move slowly from a dream state; both of which I have done before.
5  The Astral Library / Welcome to Book Reviews! / Re: Anyone read "Adventures Beyond the Body" by Willia on: August 31, 2008, 22:04:19
I'm reading this book and think it's great.  Having already read Dr Waldo Viera (Projections of the Consciousness) and Robert Monroe (Ultimate Journey), I definitely prefer William Buhlman's "Adventures beyond the body".

I like his writing style and the way he refrains from interpreting his experiences - the other writers tend to over anayse their astral experiences by creating specific structures for the astral plane and even new language for it.  William's narrative appeals to the ordinary reader, and he also backs his theories with quantum physics.  I know some people here said that's the boring bit, but the way I understand it, William thinks it is important for us to understand the quantum world in order to understand the make up of the universe, which should help us as we go OOB.

I hope the ending is as good as the beginning!

6  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to Astral experiences! / Chasing an intruder in hypnagogic state on: August 31, 2008, 21:30:53
Hi all

Two nights ago I was caught in between wakefulness and sleep and realised I had company.  Someone was walking around my bed.  It felt like this consciousness was trying to let me rest and get me some fresh air while I sleep (I sometimes feel a gush of wind while I sleep).  But I knew that this was not a higher consciousness, in fact, this being was a parasite that feeds off my energy and energy field (an intruder).  So of course, it is to his/her advantage that I recharge my batteries.  Next, the consciousness leans over to inspect me closely, maybe because he/she realised I was watching, but trapped inside my body!

I could not move obviously as I was in a sleep paralisis. So I decided not to be afraid and instead to use my thought to visualise/create a ball of light in the centre of the room and expand it to all sides.  At the same time I filled each cell in my body with light until I felt strong, invincible and covered with light energey.  I saw the consciousness turn away and disappear.  I felt really good.  But I still could not get out of my body even though I knew I was thinking, seeing and sensing with my astral body.  So I decided to try out some techniques I learned at my AP classes - the elongation technique.  I was able to extend my (astral) left foot past the bed and even to the door the other side of the room.  This was fun, and I did some more.  I saw my feet going through the wooden bed frame and actually felt the wood's vibration.  I let my foot stay in the wood for a few seconds, I was fascinated that I could do this but it was uncomfortable.  I decided to go to back to my body as I was bored!

Is anyone else worried about intruders?  How do you remove them from your environment without a daily ritual.  (I've been taught at school to cleanse everyday but that's just too much for me).  Is there an easier method?

Also how can I get out of my body when I'm stuck in a hypnagogic state?

Cheers

Curiousity is a good thing.  Reading others experiences is also good.  However, the best thing you can do for yourself is to have the experience yourself.   Remember, it is easier to be a skeptic than an explorer.  My advice to you is to look into yourself rather than wait for others to present you with evidence.
9  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to OBE discussions! / Re: Alcohol and OBEs on: August 19, 2008, 22:12:44
My experience is quite the opposite.  Ever since I started doing AP exercises, I have become intolerant to alcohol.  One sip and I feel ill, exactly like poison.  Nowadays I can drink cocktails or some other diluted drinks but still have problem with beer or wine.  It's such a shame because I really enjoyed having wine with a good hearty meal!

hiya, that sounds wonderful.  I understand our living places look different when seen from the astral plane.  I was once learning to project at a school and for a few seconds I projected to my bedroom accompanied by a helper.  It was so beautiful I was convinced it wasn't my bedroom.  But it was.  So that's just to confirm to you that what you saw was your own house!

Thanks guys.  Some really good advice.  Furix, I completely understand what you mean.  I will definitely try it out.

hey eon, you've come to the right place!  Nothing is better than having your own experience.  It's great that you have already tried a few things which have triggered your interest.  Continue to learn by reading and discussing with others, and trying out a few techniques.  This forum and the internet in general are fantastic resources for related material.  It is important that you keep an open mind when you try these techniques because this universe gives you back what you expect.  If you expect to experience nothing out of the ordinary, that's exactly what you'll get.  Your thoughts, mindset and emotions decide what you experience in the physical dimension.

What your friend claims to be able to do, are all possible.  Whether HE does them or not I don't know.  But at least he has sown a seed of interest in you, which has obviously started growing.  So, in fact, his work is done here!

look up this forum's book recommendations page and get yourself a good book - that will be a good start!

Good luck with your journey

13  Astral Projection & Out of Body Experiences / Welcome to OBE discussions! / Do you know a simple method to stay awake? on: August 12, 2008, 21:30:29
I have never been so determined to project as I am now.  I have become ever so sensitive to energy that I start vibrating as soon as I start AP exercises.  But I have a big problem with sleep.

I don't want to spend lots of money on CDs and don't really trust those with subliminal messages in them anyway.  There must be a simple method to stay awake (because I am so close most of the time).  Experiences APers, please please can you share your knowledge?

Thanks ever so much.

Read books and go to classes if you can.  Then follow the recommended techniques and have your own experience.  I think there are book recommendations on this forum.  You can do it.
15  World Religions / Welcome to World Religions! / Re: Women & Islam... on: August 07, 2008, 01:34:18
Organised religions are ways to keep order and have control over people. In the olden days, religious institutions had more authority than the government - sometimes they were one and the same.

I think Islam is the most pronounced and typical example of this. It systematically and matter-of-factly places men as superior to women.  People are so brainwashed and conditioned that they involuntarily buy into this system - completely unaware that they are being manipulated.  So much so that the women would tell you they have chosen to cover themselves and that they have all the freedom they want - which is exactly what the 'system' has consciously or subconsciously taught them to say.  (a bit like The Stepford Wives)

I know muslim women including new converts who have told me this.  However much I want to change them, I know I can't. Change comes from within - so when they are ready, in this life or the next, they will claim back their freedom and human rights.  I suppose we all have to go through phases...
