so they say when you die you lose 21 grams of weight at the point of death. not when you release all your bowles.. so when we have obe's or ap's since we are leaveing our body, would we still lose the 21 grams of weight. maby this explains y the split can a bit difficult, when you go from sp to and obe.. just wondering and has anyone done a study on this?

I think it's either urban legend or since been proved false.

In the television special "Beyond Belief" they confirmed the 21 gram myth to be true. They didn't give any other explanation why the body weighs 21 grams less, but did bring up that they figured it to be the soul had left the body.

I'll have to look that one up... cause I'd like to know "how" they measured this and under what circumstances.

Here's the 'sexy' version of the story
http://historicmysteries.com/the-21-gram-soul-theory
The methodology followed seems a little incredible, considering the accuracy of the measurements and the instruments of the time, and the fact that he couldn't replicate the results later on.  However, to be proven false they would have to try it again, and nowadays it would be considered unethical....so....

Many people do not believe that the soul leaves the body during projection, instead it is believed that a double does the travelling. This may or may not reflect a weight difference as the double may impinge differently - if at all - on the physical universe. Have any studies been done on differences of weight during sleep? Most people project without knowing at night.

I don't even believe that we're "in" these bodies to begin with.  I don't buy the "double" theory.

I was thinking of a comparison...
We're really no different than a robot we place into a room and then remote control it.
At no point does the individual controlling the robot to experience the room have to be IN the robot... he's just using the remote control to focus into the robot to experience the room.

Yes, but if you consider that both you and the robot have the ability to perceive their surroundings, it could be called 'dual awareness'- even though fundamentally you are you (all of it, including the body), the perception can be more than united, hence 'dual awareness' or 'double'.  I think the problem is that when you think 'double' you think 'other than', just because we don't have the language to describe a single unit with dual awareness, other than 'bilocation' when conscious, and 'subconscious' when unconscious.
But it's really all the same, just semantics, IMO.

The duality breaks down for me at the physical level where I don't see this "physical shell" as having any ability to perceive its surrounding by itself without a consciousness present.

But yeah, for the most part, I can identify the semantics and metaphors.
And really, I guess in the grand scheme of things... I guess none of it really matters.  LoL

The body is called the Genetic Entity or GE and the spirit the Thetan. The GE is said to have its own evolutionary line and conciousness seperate from the Thetan.

I have another theory that we were initially physical only and have used astral travel over trillions of years to develop a seperate conciousness as a desperate means to avoid physical death.

I think the opposite of that. I think that we once used our collective consciousness quite a bit more, to the point of collective telepathy and that over the millions of years we lost that ability. If you ever watch Ancient Aliens on the History Channel they speak quite a bit on this theory as well. I also think that at one time in our history we were more advanced than we are today. There is a lot of proof to back that up as well. It's almost like we evolved, then devolved and are evolving once again.
