I thought of this today... I don't know the importance of this topic. It's more of just a "what do you think?" kind of topic. I was driving out to my moms office after my doctor appointment and I got to thinking about age.

Here's what I asked myself. As humans, do you think our time here on planet earth was meant to be shorter than most people live now? For example, wasn't it rare to live past your 30's in the caveman days? Or even younger than that? It just so happens though maybe we evolved to live longer with medical science... etc. It's just I saw many people in wheelchairs breathing through these tubes and stuff... and it got me thinking. Without advanced technology to make us live longer... I wonder if we are here longer than we really should be.

It also got me thinking about life support. You see these people who get massive head injuries, who some survive from the medical science we have today... but they can't function like they used to. Their vehicle (body) is severely damaged. If we weren't as advanced in the medical field that would have been a natural death. If you think about it... Not as painful either. Who wants to be kept alive on a breathing machine and lay in bed the rest of their life?

I see it more and more everyday. If a person were to get a head injury in the caveman days they would have been unconscious number one, and the body would have slowly started to fail very shortly after. Now a days though, you got medics and surgeons who can sometimes repair you... but sometimes they can keep you living... but maybe it wasn't supposed to happen like that you know?

I also see these people who are on 20 medications... can hardly walk... and need assistance to use the restroom or whatnot. Do you think that was a part of this life we are supposed to learn from and experience? If there was no medical field like today... what do you think the average age of a normal human being would be living on earth?

Now the way I see it, when it's my time... it's my time. I do not want to be on a bed breathing through a tube. If I am in that condition I figure it was my time to move on. You know?

Just a thought I had... Thought I would share with the pulse.

Hope everyone is well. =D

When it comes down to it, it is really to each their own, but it is certainly something that crops up in my thoughts every so often.

Mostly when the thought of being afraid of death comes up, I counter with, "Well, if I was born in another time, I'd either be dead or about to die." Yet people complain and fear everything around them, it seems.

I know I wouldn't want to be kept alive if machines had to keep me alive... I often wonder if coma victims are just trapped in their bodies. Well, their spirit. Not being allowed to do what is natural and move on to whatever comes next.

And the pain it beings to the families as well. I know that if it happened to me, my family wold never want to lose me and do all they could... But from my perspective I'd rather them grieve and it be over with rather than postpone the inevitable for several years.

But that's just me thinking hypothetical... I honestly have no idea how I would react. Like if I found out I had cancer or something. No idea... *shiver*

I know that I would be dead right now if there was no medical help. Without them I wouldn't have been blessed with this beautiful life. Smiley

I would be dead if it wasn't for modern science as a type one diabetic without my insulin needles i would have just dropped into a coma and i am thankful for that otherwise i would have passed on at 13 years old o.O but you have given me something to ponder today Smiley

This is exactly why I "cringe" everytime I hear a doctor on Coast to Coast AM talking about the future. Whereas we will be able to sustain life longer and longer.

They should have actually used the word "Wealthy" in their statement. As in "the Wealthy will be able to sustain their lives further", because you know it's going to be expensive.

How many poor people do you know that are frozen in Cryogenic Chambers at the moment?

I'd not be here as a caveman then, boo hoo.
The worst thought is dementia setting in, that is if you can remember enough to realise its effects.
My marbles are still shiny and present.
Being kept alive in an inoperable shell is not for me. Theres a bridge to cross so you're remembered as the you within.
Its one way too...
