Timeless,

Puisqu'il était lecture trop occupée son dictionnaire anglais-français? [Smiley]

Risu no Kairu,
If you find some books along these lines that you think are really good, do let us know what they are. God knows I've read some utter crap on these subjects. Something useful and informative would be a welcome change.

Translation: "He was too busy reading his English-French dictionary".

Now Timeless,
I want you to promise me something.....

This is very important.......

I want your solemn word that you are not going to catch the next plane over to Australia just to come and hit me.....

Hard.......

(I cheated [:I])

Please don't apologise for writing in french. I'm the one with the bent sense of humor.

But seriously now....

I've not actually seen any of Barbara Brennan's work at all. My thoughts were along the lines of being generally discerning about books on metaphysical subjects, as some I've read have promised a lot, but ended up being a real let-down.

I prefer to use the library to find something good before spending money. Recently I did borrow a book called Wheels of Light by Rosalyn Bruyere. I found that to be well worth reading, and it had a TON of useful information about the chakras. I am fortunate that my local libraries have a good range of books on metaphysics and general psychic stuff.

Unfortunately for every one book I've borrowed that was worth while, I've borrowed four others that have been pure self indulgence by the author. There seems to be a common trait amongst psychic/spiritual writers to devote a great many pages to the telling of what they have done and what they have experienced, but fail miserably in giving any kind of decent guidance or instruction to the reader.

I tend to be very practical in my approach towards these topics. If some author starts drifting off into fairy land or tries to explain things by way of very badly interpreted or "modified" laws of physics or human physiology I tend to put the book down and never open it again. I'd rather hear someone come out and say "I don't really know how, but I know it works, and this is how you do it". An honest approach by an author will always keep my interest.

But then I guess they don't sell as many books by being honest.

Oh fine, so you want me to pay for your ticket so you can come over here, get drunk then start hitting me! [Cheesy]
And you sound like such a lovely person. Does your husband know you go travelling around the world drinking and beating people up?[Tongue]

Your determination to beat dyslexia is evident. Your posts are always clear, concise and very well written.

I guess that because the whole business of metaphysics can be so subjective, it's very hard to pin down any facts or known quantities. Even the best books I've read have entire sections that I disagree with. This I believe is simply because something written might not feel right, and I do use intuition a lot to guide me. Unlike reading a book on human anatomy or astronomy where the writings are (mostly) based on fact, physical laws and empyrical data, books on metaphysics are more about personal preferences.

Ok, no knives! Besides I'm more of a gentle type. Not into the kinky stuff![Shocked)]

I'm the same with insects in the house. My wife would rather them be squished, I prefer to catch and relocate them.

If any Aussie blokes were to carry on and tell stories like that here It'd be no wonder they couldn't get a date! The girls would think he's a complete wanker! (english translation - tosser, american - jerk-off...I think). Just think of how you'd react if you had some big guy always going around dressed like a lumberjack telling people how many Grizzlies he's fought. Mind you, the girls here might think he was a bit of fun.[Smiley]

Cheers babe!
James.

P.S.
Ummm.....Sorry Risu....

Risu no Kairu,

Check out this website:  http://www.magusbooks.com/main/

I came across the link on another spiritual/psychic site. Looks promising.

Hello, people! How are you? Good, I hope.

Well, I'm sure you people like reading, so, could you recommend me books on psychic... erm... forgive my terminology, but, on psychic stuff?

Like, anything metaphysical like.

Just, uh, if you could, leave the name of the book, the author, and what area it covers (ie, chakra work, astral project, etc).

Thanks.
