Smell lightning...

Can anyone do this?
About 7 years ago everytime a bolt of lightning would flash I could smell it. It smelt like a burning, electrical type smell. I ALWAYS asked my parents if anyone could smell it and they looked at me like...

Is this something natural? Maybe in certain storms lightning can be smelled.

Sorry if this is a really weird topic! I just all of a sudden smelt a burning smell and it led me to remember me being able to do that... I bet there is a perfectly good explanation for it.

Yes, Szaxx explained it.
BTW, it it also not abnormal to smell when others have been outside (and you're inside), and whether someone has a cold coming on (the breath has a very distinctive and gross smell to it).  Our schnozzes are very sensitive, even of stuff we're not aware of.

I want to smell lightning now! I know this isn't the same, but I went through a stage of knowing it was a cloudy day before looking outside, because I would wake up with a pressure head ache, I've mentioned it to others who just think I'm weird lol
