im 17 and about to start college ive always been very very good at science and math esp physics and trig so i decided in 8th grade engineer then electrical but now that i practice lucid dreaming id like to go into a profession that i can tie in my spare time hobby into my career i figure my best bet is get an associates in psychology(never wouldve believed id said that and still cant lol) but what career path could i go into to study/be some what involved in dreams?? salary does not matter id rather be poor and enjoying my job and life than doing something i truly dont want to......and im already gifted in science and math id like to brouden my field of comfort a bit well venture into studying the dreaming mind which is forever changing and not tangible like math and science such as the number 3 will always be 3 but a dream i have or u he or she has today could never happen again.....im just fascinated by dreams more than anything else and would love to spend my life devoted to them

can u help me out??

I had several occasions in life to look back and be thankful for having spent the time and effort to get the Science degree. The discipline and knowledge gained makes so much else so much easier later in life. And getting a job is easier - that is even more important now than ever.

You can always get a masters or Phd in one of the mickey mouse disciplines with ease later on once the BS in science and engineering is completed. In order to do research work in the psych field you need a Phd and still chances of getting good work is an iffy proposition. With just a BS in engineering you can pretty much write your ticket (although you might have to travel a lot or even move... but if that suits you so much the better).

Engineering Physics with technical electives in electrical engr field is a dynamite combo.

But jokes asside, I think this is good advice.

You will find that Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Political Science are some of the most burgeoning majors, putting out metric tons of graduates who have no idea where they are going.

A lot of people who would want to go to medical school, or research, or psychology are actually well served to specialize in a certain hard science, and then work it into their original interest. For instance, you could get a major in Chemistry of Biochemistry, or in Biology, and take a ton of statistics courses, and you might be alot more palatable to a graduate program than if you had merely taken the expected "pre" program, like "pre-med" or a general psychology major.

That, and try to get involved in as much research as you possibly can in your undergraduate days, if you want to go to gradschool for something psychology related.
