The only part of my body I am having a tough time relaxing is my eyes. As long as I am breathing I always seem to feel the need to blink them. Even while I am laying in the bed in the dark and have my eyes shut. It is hard to explain but even when my eyes are closed my body makes the action of blinking. How can I overcome this?

That sounds aggrevating, sorry to hear that.  Maybe a blindfold tied lightly would help?

Same problem here.. I can relax whole body very quick and feel those light vibrations, but my eyes don't wanna stop blinking.  Or when I keep them shut, as I relax my face, my eyes tend to open a little so it is distraction to me...

Astral Projection - that is SAME EXACT THING that happens to me! haha Damn I thought there might have been something wrong with me. As soon as I get relaxed and I am laying on my back my eyes always open just a little bit.

just use a night mask to cover your eyes.. the more you think about blinking it will become a habit when you project.

Maybe you should try meditating on your side, if it is comfortable for you?

Astral Projection - We seem to have the same exact problem. I can NEVER fall asleep on my back unless I am so tired I am passing out. And usually I will end up waking up after dozing off for a few on my back and roll over. I usually sleep on my stomach with my legs all spread out and a pillow over my head.

I am hoping to pick up a meditating book soon.

Well, when I try to meditate on my side I usually fall to sleep... undecided

try an eye pillow. I used to have that problem when
I first started meditating. The eye pillow helped me.
It has a little bit of weight to it so it keeps the eyes still.

I'll try that, thanks Smiley

Go for the extremes! Put honey on your eyes - and you won't be even able to try to open them!  tongue   evil
(You can always wash it out in the morning)  rolleyes

I get that too when I go into deeper states of meditation, Ive been told by a trusted source that (in my case atleast) its electrical impulses being set off which makes perfect sense with all the energy felt on those occasions.  No real solution besides the option of wearing a blindfold.

I'd say the main problem here, is not that your eyelids are twitching, but you are actually too preoccupied with the fact that they are twitching. You need to learn to focus your mind on other things and ignore these minor distractions.

You need to let your mind drift, or "focus", to such an extent that the flickering eyelids don't bother you. The fact that your eyelids twitch, or a carhorn goes off outside, or whatever, shouldn't bother you. Ok, if someone barges into your room, or the phone starts ringing, or you need the loo - that's different !

Consider this - when you go to sleep each evening, you don't spend hours in bed lying awake thinking "I can't get to sleep because of my eyelids" ?! do you ! Why is this ?

I'm sorry if my post sounds a bit flippant - I don't mean it to sound that way if it does. I have had the same problem in the past, on quite a few occasions. I simply stopped the exercise and tried again the next day whenever it occurred.

It seems that everyone has the eye problem. Actually as far as I've found, your eyes moving around or blinking isn't so much a problem. Stop concentrating on being completely still and relaxed, just let relaxation become you. Do you concentrate on being completely still and relaxed when you go to sleep? Rather you just lay back and know that sleep will become you. Everything relaxes by itself, and sometimes you move to accomidate comfort.

Unlike chemistry, meditation or trance does not have to be precise. In fact, I sometimes will meditate in awkward, strange positions. Especially when I do so on my couch. It's a love seat, hardly big enough for me to lay down on at all. Although one leg dangles over an arm rest, and my head is shoved in to the corner, I still relax and fall in to meditation

My eyelids twitch something fierce...I don't believe they ever cease to throughout the course of the projection. But this is only a problem when it's given attention. If I ignore it, it's not a bother. If I pay attention to it from the beginning it naturally comes to frustrate me.
