Hi all,

I can't believe its nearly 2 years since I last active on the forum.  Anyway I am back.  So I thought I look for input into something which happens to me regularly.  Firstly let me say that i don't subscribe to the mystic side of AP, for a couple of years now, and find that phasing is much more successful for me.
For a long time now, sometimes when i am in the mind awake/body asleep situation, I get physically attacked by something, usually while it is a bit uncomfortable it doesn't frighten me too much, as I don't believe its anything but my own creation, not subscribling to the mystical negs Smiley.  Certainly if I hadn't had an interest or a bit of knowledge in this type of thing it would have scared the s**t out me, however i am more annoyed that it waste's opportunities that i could go off exploring.

Anybody have any idea's why I am creating this situation, and how to prevent it.

Hi Gav,
I sometimes get 'attacked' around the F10 stage too - although I need to be in a deep F10 state (usually bordering on the equivalent of sleep paralysis).
For me at least, I’ve narrowed down these attack situations to a few possibilities.
Firstly, sometimes I get very uncomfortable tactile sensations, and while they don’t produce a strong fear reaction, they can produce uncomfortable sensations. In the suggestible state of F10, I think these uncomfortable (negative) sensations are sometimes interpreted as an attack.
Another possibility is that in the F10 state, we are letting down our natural defences, our mind is suggestible, and we are more in tune with our subconscious mind. Repressed, negative emotions/situations etc could ‘bubble’ to the surface mind and be interpreted and displayed by the mind as an attack. I don’t get this too frequently now, but for a few years during OBE practice I would get it frequently. We seem to repress a lot of things over our life time (it’s quite surprising how many things can cause fear reactions and then get buried in our mind in mundane day-to-day situations), and any form of ‘mind work’ (meditation, energy work, trance work etc) can bring it to the surface mind.
Literally accepting this, watching passively, and not getting caught up in it (or hooking into it with strong emotional response) seems to allow the mind to resolve whatever the repressed material is (in my experience anyway).

Thanks for the reply MJ, I beleive you are correct and that these attacks are a manifistation on my sub- conscious, i know in the past i have gotten rid of the attacker, by basically confronting it and saying "your not really there and its only my imagination".  The worst thing i can do is start to fight with the attacker, as this just makes it more real.  I think what I need to do is limit the amoun tof time that i spend in focus 10 or as Frank would call focus 2, and move on as quickly as possible to the 3d Blackness and then onto focus 3.

Your viewpoint on the 'astral' and its workings are like a breath of fresh air for me. There is so much on these forums that make our practice look like a farce. Keep up the logical thinking, you'll get far. Everything you experience can be explained as a manifestation of your own mind and energy, just like creatures in a bad dream are just you. Isnt there a stage one passes when separating, that contains alot of noises, and voices and so on, could it be something like that?
