Letting go, or un-attaching your focus away from things is a skill.I think its one of thoes elusive obvius things that when you know how to do it its so easy, but starting up it can seem like a monumental task.

Anyway, on to my question.

Since the whole reason I became aware of any of this (AP, OBE etc) is because of the massive waves of electricity that i would randomly experience. I associate a lot of the things with physical sensation. I think this is really holding me back. As i begin to slip into the void i feel my body tensing up, tensing up a lot. At first i thought "this is it, this is my astral body about to explode out from my physical body!" But after a while of nothing happening i realized that all the tens sensation did was make me hyper aware of my body.

Has anyone gotten past a similar sticking point and has any advice for how to overcome it.

PS. I read alot about fear being the only thing holding you back from achieving new levels of consciousness. I thought to myself "good thing im such a bad ass fearless dude" but i think this tensing up is a way of resisting completely losing touch with my pdely awarness, whitch i come to actually belive is a freak thing. So i guess yeah.... there is a bit of fear going on there.

Sorry of this has already been discussed! I just enjoy being active in discussion so i can be a bit quick on the "New Thread" button!

Letting go, is just that, you release your focus on your body and let it Phase to the Astral. I live with chronic pain so letting go is something I practice quite a bit. You will see this becomes much easier the more you practice though. When you first learn you will experience a number of different "signposts. Some could be vibrations, hypnogog imagery, some feeling of expanding or retracting, feeling of rising or sinking, the key here is you just passively observe these as progress then watch them go by. Meditation is the easiest way there is possible to reach this state. Your focus/intent will get you past it. Everyone when they just start to learn how to Astral Travel experiences this phenomenon, the more experience you get the easier it is to handle and learn from it.

for me, the body sensations distract me a bit, but it's not until they reach my head that they become a real obstacle (i get sensations that start at my feet and slowly move up -this happens every time, but each of us are unique.) i use a mantra to meditate and when the sensations reach my head i have to seriously concentrate on the mantra to move past that stage and into the void -something i've only achieved once. also, the meditative experience was much more different than an OBE in my case. good luck.

Once they reach your head you are almost there. Just hang on and realize that you are on the road to success. When I first started to Phase the hardest part for me was the intense head expansion/vibration. I noticed though that this was my final obstacle to gaining the Astral Entrance. It's almost like there is a rite to get there and you have to endure every test before you are allowed to enter.

I have consciously astral projected Once so far but have had many near successful  attempts. When it happened the one time as well as all the times I have come close, I get the tingling in the face and for some reason I get this odd pressure in my teeth...nothing painful but just a strong pressure. This when I know I'm am on the right path, but it is also a very physical distraction. I think that once I get more used to it and am able to get past the physical distraction, then I will have many more successful experiences.

Another issue I have is getting to the point where it reaches my face. What usually happens is I lay on my back and remain completely still and try and keep my my clear but not too clear that I fall asleep. I get to a point where my hands become completely numb and tingly but it just stays there instead of going throughout my body. When it does reach my face its usually because I briefly fall asleep and then wake back up in that state.
