Say if I listen to some intense crazy dubstep, could that cause me to have problems getting to the vibrational state? For example; listen to something like "Little Monsters" by Tristam and tell me that does not get stuck in your head. I've had plenty of projections, but I'm just wondering if it would be easier without that, even though I would never give it up, I love the adrenaline from that genre.

Some music helps me with obe's. I don't listen to it during my obe practice session. I listen to it before I start my obe practice session.

Here are some bands that have helped me to project:

Radiohead (album O.K. Computer)
Portishead (album Third)
Chevelle (all their albums)
Bjork (album Homogenic)
Tool (all their albums)
Deftones (album Saturday Night Wrist)
A Perfect Circle (all their albums)

Anything drawing your thoughts back to the physical will prevent projection.

The goal is to disconnect yourself from your physical senses, essentially through deep meditation.

As far as music goes, its personal preference.

My first deep meditation experience was to a Miles Davis song.

If you are looking for a full phase though. I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Cheers,

I normally don't listen to music for meditation, but the pyschotic beat dubstep puts out lets me pull back from reality and also gives me a adrenaline rush for working out. But I love making scenarios in my head which is why I have the craziest lucid dreams. Glad to know that it doesn't affect projecting.

Years ago when I used to use a computer software to play one note(piano sound) for me continuously (with a relatively slow speed). It could easily hypnotize me and bring me into deep meditation state.

There has been a lot of work done on this topic. Astral Planes and OBE-like planes (earth in thsis case), exist at higher frequencies than normal physical beta states. They say that it follows that when you listen to say classical music for example, you'll feel better because you are bringing into your being the higher (or as high as the music can get you) frequencies. People are like tuning forks. Did you ever wonder why shamans have been heard to enter a trance state while chanting and having other people chant around them? That was no mistake, nor just for fun Tongue So I'm not too sure about low frequency music, but higher ones should have no problem helping you! I meditate a lot, usually with tuning forks of 432Hz because the theory is that it is the nature vibration of nature, and it helps tremendously. Music also carries vibration...so yea...some facts here to validate that music = good for you when trying to project..or anything similar to that (meditation, etc..)Smiley cheers!

I think it depends on what type of music we are talking about the more repetitive the better and also how relaxing the music is. Music like Gymnopédie No. 1 and any meditation type music I am guessing helps relax someone whilst heavy metal or music with words might distract you from relaxing. In saying that though there were a few posts that I have read in these forums about people who got their first obe's whilst listening to some heavy metal. So I guess it really depends on the person.

I have read that Music that has vocals in it will impede your meditating/projecting, due solely to the fact that the words have meaning and and might steer your mind/focus away from projecting. Instrumental music works well to project though. This is why people usually use a non sensical mantra to meditate.

Only that which prevents you from relaxing will prevent you from being able to project.

Some people find meditation with binaural beats and isochronic pulses to be helpful. Solfeggio tones are used as well.
