I'll keep this short, I am a veteran at ATTEMPTING this stuff
I quit 1 year ago, I won't get into why, I just got annoyed.

Whenever I attempt to AP I usually set myself up, relax my body, and well... Lets just say I end up laying flat on my back for hours, waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever happens.
I eventually give up, roll over, and go to sleep.

I tried so many methods over the 5-6 YEARS I've attempted this, and well, as you can see, nothing works.

/discuss

I even tried not thinking about it, just daydreaming, nothing ever happens, I just daydream for hours..
Perhaps laying flat on my back is the problem? I don't understand why I can never do this.

Ok.

There may be a remedy... and it's got people out of a stuck rut in the past... but you have to do EXACTLY what I say... no personalising... no excuses... no questions or over-thinking it... no just giving it a go a few times and moving on to something else.

Have you tried sleeping for a few hours first then trying to ap?  When your body has rested for a while it is a lot easier to ap.  Also you do not have the distractions and you can take your time.
Lying on your back is not working for you.  What about lying in a more comfortable position instead of lying on your back.   The problem with that is you have a high chance of falling asleep.  I lie on my side on a very thin mattress.  It is not comfortable so I am less likely to fall asleep.  I ap most mornings when I make an effort.

I've tried loads of times to AP upon awaking from a good few hours/night of sleep.

Symbol, you are dedicated and the length of time you've put in deserves a medal. You're not on your own too.
Follow Bedeekins instructions and see what occurs. It will take some time but you already have done a long stretch.lol
Don't try anything else either.
You'll get the result you want.

Symbol,
The problem is that, like many others before you, you don't really know WHAT it is you're trying to do.
You're going on everything you've read... and quite literally, *MOST* of what I've read is horribly wrong.

You've probably heard the saying, "practice makes perfect", right?  Well, it's wrong... dead wrong.
The saying should be "perfect practice makes perfect"... or correct practice... or understanding what you're doing while you're practicing.
Because if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, and you keep doing it wrong or not understanding what it is you're trying to do... you're going to fail.
This is the problem most people have.  They know what they want, but because life has taught them otherwise... they don't know how to go about doing it.

Listen to Bedeekin... he'll give you a straightforward, no bullsh*t approach to understand.  Smiley

Whenever I've took someone who just isn't getting anywhere near it, it's like a challenge.. and we've worked through it. It just takes a bit of one on one sometimes.

I've tried loads of times to AP upon awaking from a good few hours/night of sleep.
Have you tried to be in a more comfortable position instead of lying on your back?  You must have lost confidence and feel that you cannot ap as you have tried to ap for a long time without success.  That is normal.  I would feel that as well, that I was not able to ap.  That could be the problem.  If you think you cannot ap, it is a lot harder to ap.  Your inner self does not want to ap.  It thinks it cannot ap.  I would advise you to keep telling yourself I can ap, I will ap, I ap now.  Even if you do not succeed keep telling yourself that you can do it.  By doing that I have found ap becomes a lot easier.  It may not work overnight.  You will have to give it a lot of time, as long as it takes to convince yourself that you can ap.  Do you want to ap?  Of course, your answer is yes.  Your body may not want to ap.  That happens to me sometimes.  I am lying down and I want to ap but my body does not want to co-operate.  I have to keep telling myself I want to ap to try to convince my body that I want to ap.  Then ap is a lot easier.   I would advise you not to lie down for hours as it is a waste of time.  I have done that and it does not achieve anything.  If it does not happen, it is better to get up and do something then try again.  That is what I do.  It works about 99 percent of the time.

How is your mind when you practice ap?  Is it relaxed or agitated?  It is very important for the mind to be relaxed.  If it is bored, feeling annoyed, lying there for too long in the same position,  feeling uncomfortable etc.  If you are thinking of too many things that can make the mind not relax as well.  You can imagine something but it has to be at the right time for it to work.  That is from my experiences.   If you do not mediate I would advise you to meditate.  Meditation can help a lot with ap.

The way I see it, is the time of day is important. What I personally do is, I set my alarm for, lets say an hour before I usually wake up. When I wake, I give a good 20 min. During that 20 min, I'm working on my intention. My intention being astral projecting. I find this time of day excellent because it's early in the morning when the energy is highest, your mind isn't full of "chatter" from throughout the day, and your body is nice and relaxed. Now intention is just as important. While laying there if you are thinking to yourself "when is something going to happen? This isn't working" etc etc etc, than of course nothing will happen! You're already setting yourself up for failure by setting your intention on such thoughts.

He needs to tell us in detail, step by step what he does.    It is no point in us trying to guess what the problem is.
