There's all kind of scotomas- mine look like iridescent glittering triangles, and they do end up forming a semicircle, which I suppose encircles the eyes.  But they're definitely not natural looking.

Even then are these still not confusable with visible supernatural stuff.

There are still differences.

-Scotomas can not be switched off, while visible supernatural things can alwas be switched off, if one needs to see the physical enviroment.
-supernatural stuff creates never a blind spot
-many supernatural stuffs are bound to physical enviroment or even on special things of this enviroment (only liveforms,...) and not projected on the eyes like scotomas and synestesia.
-supernatural stuff allows supernatural perceiving. (like detecting lifeforms in absolute darkness or two persons see the same astral being at the same location and the same time).
-while the by scotoma and synestesia perceived things depend on different things which seem to differ from person to person, are real supernatural perceptions and their behavior identic from person to person and depend only from the species of the viewed thing.

Absolutely, in my experience.  But my mother, for example, freaked out every time she started getting one, thinking she was psychically attacked (or something) and then would calm down when she realized what it was.  So really, even though the perception may be the same, the belief system of the experiencer makes a difference in how they react.

Hi, sorry to leap in here but if I may share this -  I also suffer from scintillating scotoma & have episodes of paralysis when I simply drop to the floor ; I have hemiplegic migraine attacks & have to take unpleasant meds to ward off the attacks.  It works to an extent.

I can usually tell when an attack is coming, from the "alien writing" I can see in gold on a black background, superimposed over everything with eyes open OR closed; or else jagged, serrated half-circles -  which are standard migraine prescursors.

But this is completely different from the visions I see when meditating or just lying resting - these are clear; like a well-tuned TV screen.  I always suspect lights of any kind to be related to my "affliction", but possibly that is wrong. If you google Dr Klaus Podoll you'll see the amazing "migraine art" that sufferers have produced over the years. In fact, some people have proposed that migraine could be a kundalini-related "side-effect", & part of an evolutionary experience - not sure if I'm making myself clear. . . .though I certainly could do without any throwing up & pain in the head which sometimes (but rarely) occur.

I'm sure my family is embarrassed by my behaviour sometimes, when I stop to admire a wall surface which is vibrating, or stare into the sky at the beautiful patterns I see.  I've never decided whether this is migraine-related or not; I can "stop" seeing these by an effort of will & reminding myself that I need to see "consensus reality" in order to function.  I also see "through" my closed eyelids sometimes, in a dark room. . . another of my frequent meditation experiences is seeing the "yin-yang" symbol turning slowly.

It's oddly comforting to know there are others here with similar experiences. smiley

@kirolak
You have written about superimposing alien writing. I know a german forum user with the same problem. Would you describe your writing more exactly please? (How it occurs and how it looks and moves) I think he will be lucky to hear about, that others have this problem too and hes not alone.

Edit: Correction, there are now 3 users, the thread was active while i was not active in this forum. So hes not alone anmore.

 Kirolak, you have posted in another thread here today that you have done energy work for years. Well, what you are experiencing "comes with the territory" to say. Just last night I was out admiring the beautiful Northern Lights here being created by the recent Solar Storm and I was amazed to see that after watching the sky for a couple of minutes I could see other things like little rainbow color flashes. Well actuallly they looked like little rainbow orbs, they were falling all over the place. It was quite a sight. Since I have been Phasing, I see writing where there is none, I am constantly seeing light orbs out of the corner of my eye and even shadows moving where there is nothing there. I don't have anything medically wrong with my eyesight, this is all just things that now occur on a daily basis that I experience since opening my eyes to conscious Astral Travel.  I am loving every minute of it, you never know what's going to happen next.  smiley

Interesting correlation.  I wonder if people that get them get more of the 'mandala type' hypnopomps....

Wow, yes - I do see the most glorious mandalas! But for some reason if I look at a physical pattern that catches my eye (like patterns made by the waves on beach sand, especially when it's misty) I  have to concentrate to stay in the body. At times I feel I'm on the verge of slipping out when I see the "alien writing" - it like nothing I've ever seen, I can't describe it & have no drawing talent) But it seems to be sentient, & is gold in colour.
