I can get to the state where I see varous scenes flashing in my mind, I then try to enter one. I think this is called phasing. But the problem is that I can't "stay" in the scene, it just passes and another comes, totally out of my control. Eventually I fall asleep.
what am I doing wrong?  huh

You have to wait untill you have a steady image. So you could for instance see a very faint image of a house, but it's there for longer then just a few seconds. Start breathing deeply with the intention to make the image clearer.

Usually this helps and the house will gain more features and starts to look more real. If you can get it to stay steady and cover your entire 'field of vision', then you can try entering it.

It's one of those things that are hard to explain. Once you've done it one time the next times will be somewhat easier, as you know what to look for.

You could also try a 'rundown', as is explained somewhere here on this board. Take something you are familiar with, for instance a run in the park, if you do that on a daily basis. In your mind just run the route you normally would. In the beginning it will only be a thought, but as you continue, a faint picture will form.

With practice this faint picture will start to grow. Now make sure you actually feel yourself running. Your feet touching the ground, the fresh air, your speed increasing etc. Soon you will have a complete picture with all 5 senses involved, which can be used for phasing.

Hope that helps,

- LittleJoe

The rundown is a good idea to work with, as LittleJoe mentioned. It sounds like you are on the right track. Perhaps you just need to strengthen your concentration, and little by little you should be able to "stay" in the scene longer
