I've read your method yesterday and it has influenced me when I was sleeping, even though I did not mind trying it.

I dreamed I was reading it again but instead of letters it said to climb down numbers until one reaches number 6.

It said to go around number 6 five times, and when it was done one would have an instant projection, and so I did it.

I was not really climbing down but rather sliding on the numbers, and after going through number 6 I was out. Supposedly a recreated projection since I was already dreaming.

I suggest you people try it, I can't see why it would not work from the trance state.

Cool.  But really, I was intending for the method to be used TO enter the trance state.  Really, simply put, all we need for the experiment is a mental focus that will bring your consciousness as close to sleep as possible without exerting so much mental energy that you just remain awake indefinately.

As I had read in the other thread, and the way that I have come to understand it, the simplest method invovles just remaining conscious for as long as you possibly can until you black out.  It seems like since you have taken your consciousness awareness so deep into sleep where you reach hypnagogia, that after you black out your mind will go back to the previous mental state and return to your conscioussness that was left behind.  My theory is that the blacking out is just simply changing brainwaves from the alpha state directly to the delta state, where the brainwaves are so slow that you just can't take awareness into that state directly from alpha.  Once delta has passed and you start a cycle of REM that is when your brain usually accesses your previous mental cycle that it left off of, ie.. your conscious awareness.  

But anyways if any of you have something you want to add to that feel free, it is just a wild theory of mine based on what I have read here so far.  

Basically back to what I was saying, this focus element should keep your conscious awareness through the alpha state until you black out for a quick period of delta, where it will then pick up the previous mental state which you experienced in alpha sleep.

Here is an experimental method that has brought a lot of forward success in my further attempts to bring my conscious awareness into the theta state of sleep, where the vibrations start to occur.

As you are drifting off into sleep and you feel yourself becoming incoherent and drifting off into unconsciousness, quickly visualize or imagine yourself climbing down a staircase composed of one single letter of the alphabet.  For example, let's say that I use the letter "L".  As I start to feel unconsciousness settle in, I manage to remain awake while my body falls asleep by suddenly thinking of climbing down a staircase composed of many letter "L"s.  And then once I start to become incohehrent with that scenario and my mind grows even more tired I just hold the image of a simple "L" in my head, and that is as far as I have gotten lately because I was pressed for time and I had to get to sleep for work.  Hypnagogic imagery did appear after viewing a mental picture of an "L".

So for this technique, try to focus every single thought that might seem incoherent into a unique letter.  It's the *FOCUS* on the uniqueness of your letter, no matter how bizarre the circumstance in which it is used, that should theoretically take you deep enough into sleep where you will reach theta with full waking consciousness.  I think that after a certain point of being incoherent with your thoguhts, you will have already fallen asleep and everything will seem all clear again.  Don't know about that though yet.  But just give this a try and tell me if it helps you.
