Truth of karma:

The actions you cause to yourself you experience
You, as each and every body on earth,
Your karma is living out the actions you've done to others,
So when your friend yells at you,
That is from you yelling at your friend a lifetime ago Wink
Because you ARE/WERE the friend who is yelling at you.
And I am the friend yelling at you now!
I love you so much! And im sending all my energy to ensure you have a happy life! You did this favour for me a lifetime ago, so im doing it for you, meet instant karma!

Much love, always,
Soul.

I used to buy into the karma thing, but I eventually came to a conclusion.  Karma is just the Eastern version of Sin.  Both only have one purpose: to create fear of wrong action.  Sin gives you a wrathful God delivering vengeance upon you.  Karma tosses out God's vengeance and replaces it with the universe getting back at you in future incarnations.  Both are geared toward creating sheep who follow the rules for fear of a future spanking.  And there seems to be millions of people, within Christianity and Buddhism alone, who need to look over their shoulder in fear of that stick to keep on a proper path.  Very sad.

I couldn't agree with this statement more.   Smiley

I like how you put it, that karma is just "the universe getting back at you in future incarnations".  hehe  Really puts it into perspective.

The only karma people get met out is against their own spiritual growth in the form of "do you become a better person, or not"?

People think that's some kind of joke statement... but it's the PINNACLE of why you're here.  It's why you're existing.  It's the most important question to your consciousness since the invention of sliced bread.

It's certainly not "you do something bad, so something bad happens to you"... it's not that vindictive.  It's all based on a consciousness/spiritual level... and you do it all to yourself.  Take someone like Hitler for example (extreme, I know).  Most people expect him to be burning in some hell right now for his actions... well, I hate to break the news to you, but he's not.  His consciousness grew or reversed based upon his actions here.  He either spiritually grew, or spiritually retreated because of his actions.  He didn't/wasn't/isn't burning in hell...

Thanks for the response, Xanth.  Most of the time, given the seeming ubiquitous nature of the New Age movement, I feel quite alone in my opinion.

That, and one thing I've noticed about a good chunk of the "new age community"... they are a vindictive bunch of humans just wanting to see someone roast in their proverbial "hell".

I've never seen Karma as "sin" way of things, it's totally different. And Karma to me is always in effect, not from reincarnations but your current life.
I see it as a train of thoughts in some way. The more you do bad things the worst your karma gets, but it's not about "it makes bad things happen to you if you do bad things", far from that.
The more bad things you do the worst your karma gets and the more you want to do bad things. Bad thoughts or "Criminal mind" takes effect and you keep going that direction.
Until regrets and bad feelings start tormenting you (unless you are a sociopath which don't care about his feelings or anything). It's when regrets and bad feelings kicks in that the "Karma" part take effect. You become unskillful because of your regrets and afterthoughts. You can't do bad things properly because of fear of being caught and because you know it's bad in some way, the more you go in that direction the worst the regrets get and the more you get unskillful (with the possibility of failing, getting caught or hurting yourself in the process increasing every bad actions you do).
This is the reason why sociopaths or assassins etc don't get caught often, because they really don't care about their feelings and they like what they're doing.
Someone can be really at his place with his bad karma and live a successful life. That won't change the fact that he's not a good person.
And when reincarnating well he'll reincarnate in what he like more (do more crimes etc.) That's all.
That doesn't mean that his next reincarnation won't be full of regrets or an extremely painful existence tho Wink.

Instant-Karma is awesome to watch because you can clearly see when someone tries to do something bad and regrets instantly kicks in and they become super clumsy.

Kzaal, I appreciate you sharing your opinion.  Personally, I believe that the universe is a perfectly aligned cause-and-effect machine.  God, the universe, the One, the All needs nothing more to affect ascension of souls.  It's humans who complicate a relatively simple process; that process, though, requires a very simple thing that most humans don't like in the least: personal responsibility of actions, personal responsibility for the effects they themselves cause.  Vicious that.  But quite straight forward, i think.  You just have let go of the avenging Intelligence, et al., coming to get you.

I think that is true. But I think that's a very one sided view on karma. Yes it's similar to the whole 'sin' thing where it's based on fear so we avoid stepping out of line. I think it can also be viewed as redemption as well because based on our actions/intentions, it is what determines what'll come back to us. If it's bad karma, we have it coming, we learn from it and we change. Then there's also good karma, do good things, and good will come.

Ok. First let me tell you that this is my first post on this forum. I answer to you because of compassion. I had to! because it hurt my eyes lol!

I had to answer because there was a time where I was in the same "mind trap" as you.
Once you accept that belief you become so obsesed with that idea and you try to be like an "angel", perfect, nice. And if you're not you become frustrated or even depressed... And because no human can be perfect in his thoughts or actions you clearly become very depressed because of the "karma" belief. But that's not the only problem: you often give up your power, you find excuses for your failures, problems, obstacles... You say to yourself "this is because of my past lifes" I can do nothing about it."

Observe people and countries who accepted that belief: They are the poorest, most miserable countries/persons in the world. They always feel dirty and guilty they need to wash themself in "sacred" water, then need to pray Buddha or gods... Just like the sin concept in christianity... And above all its just a false, non scientific, non logic BELIEF.

I think that it's a misunderstood concept. When you read original Buddha's texts, when he talks about "karma" he talks in fact about "the actions" from an absolute perspective: which means -actions of the mind-. Just like in a astral projection our life is a projection of our mind: so your mind creates your acts and events. With bad thoughts you have a "bad" life. In NO WAY it means that if you "yell at your friend" others will yell at you. It's just that if you are hostile in your mind for exemple, you will live in hostility. Nothing to do with past lifes, nor "punishment" system as you understood it. Its just a CAUSE/EFFECT thing. I can tell this Because I study metaphysics since I'm 15. I will have my own book published (in french) in 2017 about this kind of subjects....
Think about this: Can you imagine ALL your past lives with all your mistakes, "sins", all the weight on your shoulders... Can you imagine if you had to "pay" for countless past lives and 'sins" seriously!? lol? That would be so evil, the greates "sadomasochistic" universal law ever!

Here is my understanding of KARMA:
What you generate in your mind (action/karma) is reflected/projected in your experience! Those experiences can be in physical dimesion or not. That applies in every dimension you exist! You cannot escape from it. The best way to see and understand its when you are "in the astral" because you see the direct effect of your thoughts. What you generate in you is reflected "outside of you" even in this physical life, it juste takes some time, its not like in the astral. You are "victim" of the past ONLY if you accept past thoughts in the present. So for an individual who is unaware of his mind power will often be a victim of some "karma". Once you understand that your life is only a projection of your PRESENT mind, for sure! you will begin to generate pure/lovely thoughts and you will have a lovely life, your actions will be pure because all the events in your life become pure. I talk from experience.

Totally agree with this:

Peace.

If you subscribe to the notion that the universe and the experience of consciousness within is truly infinite then it DOES mean that yelling at someone else means someone yells at you. Infinity guarantees that you will live the life of both the person doing and receiving the yelling.

I think Karma works both figuratively in the way you describe but it also has to work literally if infinity is a real thing. The turn around is just potentially a really long time.

I know so many "pure", kind people who would never harm not even an insect and other treat them like excrement.
Of course you can believe that they were "bad boys" in the past life but this is not science.
What is true for sure is that often those people have low self esteem, fear, doubt... they imagine negative things happening to them and so they create it in their mind and it becomes "physical". The same for people who believe in evil while they project they see evil everywhere.

I think that a belief in karma as described in the first post can be very harmful for people, because there is no way out. You just say "yeah its because my past lives". Once you understand that you make every event in your life with your mind you cannot believe in karma anymore because you see some facts that contradict it. Of course I'm aware that I cannot change people's beliefs but I just wanted to give my "light" lol :p
I remember when I was into buddhism it made me so depressed! Azn
