It was about then when I said to myself, "alright... I really gotta try and get to the bottom of this".

I often experience noises. It's almost as if something mischievous is trying to distract me. I can say categorically these noises are extremely realistic and sound like someone is in the house moving around. Otherwise it sounds like the radio is on. I try to ignore them.
It's surreal isn't it? When I lifted what was obviously my etheric head and shoulders, the sound was shrill loud and mechanical. Almost like a giant metal garage door being slowly lifted, then slammed shut. I just wasn't prepared for it, and obviously startled myself back into wakefulness, which I really regret, because it felt so close to happening.

There were a series of spontaneous OBEs and other odd events that brought me to the point where I wanted to really take up a serious study of these phnomena.
One was waking up in the middle of the night and hearing voices in the other room. It was so real that I thought someone must have left the TV on and some late night talk show was on. Usually it would fade away and I would think it was a dream and just go back to sleep. Once it was strong and persistent so I got up to go turn it off and I got out into the hallway and I could see the TV and it was off and only then did the sound start to fade away.
That was a little spooky.
It was about then when I said to myself, "alright... I really gotta try and get to the bottom of this".
It's sort of the same with me. I have always been a strong lucid dreamer by nature, and some of these dreams have been so life-like and real, I decided to do some research into them. Which only recently led me to learn about AP. Since then, I have tried to learn all I can on the subject, since I keep coming so close. I do think there is a connection to suddenly be woken from a dream, (especially a lucid one) and then finding yourself suddenly going out of body, since it happen to me twice. Love this site... there is a wealth of information here.

Thanks, I had another near experience lastnight, but I am afraid, I still can't say I did any real astral traveling. The weird thing is, I have come close 3 times, yet each experience was totally different. I floated in silence, when I saw the purple light. After my other dream, I lifted my etheric head to loud screeching noises. Last night, when I went to bed, I decided since my mind wasn't the least bit sleepy that it was a good time to try and induce another AP, by making my body go to sleep while keeping my mind semi conscious. I had my eye mask on again, and after waiting patiently started to see swirling shapes, again in (purple) Then I felt my lower body stiffen. It started with my toes and feet curling...this was not under my contol, with a feeling of pins and needles, that spread up to my calves and thighs. The next thing I knew I was forced to arch my back. I was trying not to panic, even as my heart started racing. Then I heard a loud humming sound, that seemed to come from behind my headboard. It was like a bunch of lawn mowers going all at once. But when I tried to lift my (etheric arms) instead I found myself lifting my physical arms, which felt really heavy at the time. When I lifted my eye mask, I could see my niightlight in the corner of my room, and I realized I was not seeing anything unusual, and that I was once again awake, and the sound was gone. Maybe I needed to wait longer, I don't know, but it felt like I it went on forever. and I just wanted to step outside my body. Anyway, I have only been trying for about 6 or 7 weeks, and guess I need to be more patient.

Yep, patience is the key to success. You're doing great actually, more than great. For what I've seen you're one step away from archieving it. You just need to guet use to those feelings/noises, once you are ok with them, and can ignore them or be confortable with start travelling my friend

Although, it's like entering the great unknown for me, I really want to have a chance at the full experience. I feel I have come close enough now to know that AP is very real. Yet was totally in the dark about it, like so many others until recently. The thought of it is somewhat spiritual to me, since it seems to confirm, that while are bodies are temporary, our souls are eternal, and will one day travel on to a new realm.

You are one baby step away from projecting with all those separation signals blaring. No... not even that... maybe one half of a baby step. Try to muster up a sense of urgency. Think of yourself in an airplane, at jump altitude, the door is wide open, you are over the target zone and the sergeant (who happens to be your Guardian Angel in camo-fatigues with wings sticking out the back) is screaming at you, "go, Go, GO!!!!" Something like that.

Oh! So I might have waited too long? It did feel like it went on forever. But I really didn't know what to expect since each experience was so different. I'm not even quite sure what method is the right one? I have heard of the roll out technique, and the rope technique, but wasn't sure which one to try. The only time I came slightly close was when I lifted my head, and I read that the head is usually the last to go. I only know while my arms were heavy, my legs were like dead weight, I couldn't move them. How do you know when you body is ready to seperate? And which method to you think is the most effective? I have to leave this morning, but will be checking back here later tonight. I would love to gain some insight on how and when to seperate. Thanks
