There's a quote I like to remember by Wordsworth:

"..which having been must ever be."

P.S. If I may ask an extremely corny, revolting question... what is your sun sign? I'm picking up capricorn. Smiley

I totally understand. Been there, doing that. Though I never recall having OBE when I was young, I do realize now that I use to have some lucid dreams. This is something I have lost over time as I rarely remember my dreams now much less have any chance for controlling them. A few years ago I got into astral projection and have practiced it on and off. It is disheartening when you realize that you have allowed your astral travels to fall to the side. But sometimes it is almost impossible to stop it from happening. But it is true you never lose any ability to do it, though you will have to work to be able to do it again. I am starting that climb back up now.

Getting started is the current challenge for me. My guess is that the more time and effort it costs to get started the less likely it is to be set aside. There was a time long ago when I had control over my dreams to the extent of being able to choose either to have a lucid dream on demand or to have a dream about a specific topic on demand. Going back to sleep during the night, it was very easy to go back into the same dream if I wanted. This could be lucid if I wanted. It was too easy and only getting better until I mentioned it to my father, who told me that it was impossible and that no one could do such things. I tried to argue that my experience showed otherwise, but was too young at the time. The damage has been irreversible so far. The first book I picked up on astral projection was in 1988. I am still trying. After paying this much for astral projection, it is really unlikely that I will drop it for anything when I do get started. Letting astral projection fall aside after having developed it sounds like another form of the same sort of paying for it which I have been doing.

I am glad you are already almost there. Once you have projected then getting back into it usually does not take long at all. In my experience if I have been away for awhile and come back to projecting I can usually be back at it in about 2 weeks. Time varies but 2 weeks practicing for just a short amount of time every day is usually at most what it takes.

I need to try and start a dream journal as I have heard this really helps remember dreams from many different sources. I have actually been remembering my dreams for the past few days so maybe things will start getting better.

I remember flying around in dreams as a kid. But what about now?
