Now, I've recently had two experiences. AP's. I've already talked about one in one the posts here in Astral Pulse. The experiences have been very confusing.
So i was relaxing and inducing Mind awake, body asleep state... which i did successfully. My mind was pretty awake as i was listening to my grandparents talking, yet my body was asleep. And then the separation had occurred. Immediately i was dragged into an involuntary flight. I was flying to some random place. After i stopped, i willed myself to a friends place. I did this so that i could note some details and inturn prove to my friend that i Astral Projected successfully (like noting the color of his dress and later calling him to check it). But when i arrived there, the whole place looked different. His house was different. My brother was in his house!! It seemed like a dream! I don't understand why this is happening. There were many other things which didn't coincide with the real life situation.

I don't think the astral matches up exactly with physical real life buildings or geography. It may help if you spend time really studying what a specific area looks like such as a neighborhood or a house
until you have it memorized. I have not personally done this myself because I haven't really wanted to go to an exact location before. I think if you want to be at your friends house then you will
have to memorize it but am still not confident it will be exactly as it is in the physical. If anyone has done something like this where projecting matches the real world exactly I would like to hear about it and
how I could go about doing that.

Did you really start projecting just from laying in bed and having your body go to sleep while staying conscious? How long did it take you? I have only projected by taking a nap (usually cause Ill be laying in bed meditating and then fall asleep) and then finding myself between sleep and awake when the vibrations start. I would like to know your technique if you would share. I am curious how you could do this while listening to people talking. That would bevery distracting to me and don't see how I could do it.

I lie down, lie still, try to keep my mind empty (this speedens the process of falling asleep). That's all i do. Its somewhat similar to what personalreality has talked about in this forum. I don't move a muscle. I'm quite awake at first, but slowly slip into thoughts and fall asleep most of the time. But when i manage to stay alert, i reach the separation in an hour and a half. Yes, i'm pretty alert of my surroundings. Infact, they kinda help me achieve separation. The body and the mind fall asleep together. When there are sudden noises, the mind is awoken while the body continues to fall asleep. THis is what i think happens because everytime there is a sudden noise, my separation occurs minutes later.

I find this method very simple and easy. It doesn't require much effort or mental energy. Hence i am motivated to try it EVERY single night. I've been doing it for past 8 months and experienced my first successful projection.

BTW, i kinda figured out what went wrong. It happened today also.
I'm entered the separation state, but found it very hard to exit. I tried rope technique and the rolling out one. DIdn't work well. And the vibes also last for a very short time. I was separating but didn't do it completely. What happened next was that i was kinda tired. I ended up imagining the exit and slipped into a dream state thinking i projected. What followed was a lucid dream and not an AP.

Dlosp is right in that our expectation of a Non-Physical-based experience will not necessarily match up with our Physical World expectations. It just doesn't for many reasons, which adds greatly to our early frustrations. This all has to do with our natural tendency to think about our Non-Physical experiences from a purely Physical Reality perspective; and this introduces inconsistencies both great and small.

I like your relaxation method and the fact that it works for you dpk38; my suggestion is to gently accept those moments where you slip off into sleep for a few minutes, to re-emerge into an expectant exit mind state. Beyond the current floating/rolling out/stepping out exit techniques...now be looking for visual exits...ask/intend for a portal to appear...a doorway, a window, a scene of some sort...let it stabilize, realize what it is and go with a confidence of your destination in mind...you need the destination...lol.

A year ago, I used a portal of green grass and simply fell face forward into it...it worked beautifully...that's how simple it can be...
