So I finally managed to become conscious of my dream. I tell myself that I want to go to my kitchen (while dreaming). I say to myself 3-2-1 and kitch....DAMN I'M AWAKE!!!!

I don't know what I did wrong, but something caused me to wake up. According to (http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_obe_discussions/my_godlike_method_for_obtaining_obes-t25150.0.html) an easy method to astral project is to do it from a lucid dream. While dreaming, you try to change your surrounding to some place at home (I wanted my kitchen). I suppose the moment I gave it serious thought I started waking up.

I'm not going to attempt to project from a meditative state, I will only try from a sleep state. But still, damn I'm back to square 1. How would I know that I'm projecting and not simply in a very detailed lucid dream???

I think once you are firstly able to realise you are dreaming the next step is to be able to stay in the dream.

Even the emotions of realising your dreaming, the wonder, amazment, the sense of 'yeah! i did it!' can wake you up (from my experiance). Took me a few weeks to be able to stay calm after realisation.  Practicing to calm and quieten your mind might help with this. You can take that practice and use it in your dreams and/or quieten your mind as you wait for sleep, meditate etc.

A few nights ago I also tried to move from to my kitchen from my room when I found myself dreaming that I was sat on my bed side that night. I tried to stay still and calmly tell myself to move to the kitchen whilst remembering what it looked it. Unfortunately, i was still sat on my bed side  grin More practice I think.

As for the projecting vs LD some say you already are projecting though you have created this illusion around yourself and its a matter of breaking out of this illusion and seeing what is beyond it.

More experianced will be able to help more.

A trick I've found to "extend" your lucid dream is to spin like a top!
You won't get dizzy, obviously, because it's not your physical body that is spinning.
So when you're lucid and you find your consciousness slipping away, waking up, SPIN!!  SPIN!!!
You'll be amazed at how it strengthens your lucid dream and allows you to continue.

A nice side effect is that you might also find yourself in a new "place" after you stop spinning.  Smiley

Give it a shot!

I'll give it a try..Spinning!

On a side note::: (and this is interesting)...
I had another semi-lucid dream, in that everything was so clear, but I didn't have as much mental control. I mean, I was aware of the dream, but couldn't control my actions. I was on top of a cliff, about to fall. Everything was so bright and colorful, like 5 times saturation! I fell, and the moment I hit the ground I felt the shock when waking up. Awesome! Last time something similar happened was about 15 years ago.

Your "falling" may have been your consciousness coming back to your body..

I have been in lucid dreams and when loosing consciousness, trying to project or trying to wake up.. I have had this feeling..
Although a little different.. as the falling feeling I have feels like I am falling upwards.. if you could imagine that

I had a FA this morning and then became lucid. As I stepped out of bed I noticed that I was losing my awareness. So I remembered this, and thought to myself: I have to spin! But I couldn't do it, I couldn't even move! That never happened to me before. Still, I did remember it and will try it again the next time.  grin

More then once i have found myself laying in bed and thought to try to get up and leave but I feel such a weight on my body that I can move, apart from an inch per second. Its becomes even more difficult when I try to stand up as I think I should leave my body before I get pulled in. Maybe we are not aware or lucid enough?

Does anyone have another answer to Threepwoods question? Are there any checks you can do to find out whether you're in an OBE or having a LD? Because I think I have just had my second OBE but am not sure because the exit was very different from the first OBE and the returning to the body I missed because I slipped into a dream. What if you become aware in the middle of an OBE, how can you tell?  huh

From what I have heard if its a lucid dream you may able to change things in the dream or make things appear/disappear as they are created by your mind. Things may even change by themselves like a clock that when you look back has disappeared. If you cant change anything then its most likely the astral.

I also heard that if its a projection you should have constent awareness. From being in the astral to returning to your body without any blackouts for example.

Again thats what I have heard from other posts.
