Hi Blossom,

Your form of relaxing is what I call gounding.I just started once again  to do it myself yesterday out in the back of my yard which is situated in a beautiful countryside setting.http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>
Its an excelent way to relax, clear clutter, comune with nature and provide a target for o.b.es. I do it standing up right.

Theres no doubt you were going somewhere with your experience.Where I cant say but I myself have had o.b.es with out noticing vibrations or any type of energy sensation for that matter.

Are you using any actual techniuqes to induce a.p or are you just reading up on the matter?

Peace!

Just reading up with no particular technique at all..

Right after this happened, during I initial search, Bruce Goldberg was the first author I found and read on astral travel.  Then I found others as Goldbergs material did no suit me... William B for one.  His books are much better than Goldbergs [hope noone is offended].  I read William B's books for about 7-8 months over and over. Then a few months ago, I came across a pdf document called "TREATISE ON ASTRAL PROJECTION".  I read it like it was some sort of religion and was water to a dying person.  I had volume 2 only.  I started using the rope method.  I did not leave my body at all, but the level of relaxation I achieved was wonderful and deeper than any I have felt.  I felt like I was floating in my own little world without being aware of my body, but I never left it.  I downloaded volume 1 last night and plan on reading it today during my husbands nap..hehe.

Yesterday, as I was looking at it vol2 again, it dawned on me that since I was reading volume2, there had to be a volume 1.  So, in searching last night for volume 1, I found this site and this forum.

The hardest thing for me to accept [and I still have trouble with this at times] are the actualization of chakras.  I am trying to be accepting because if I was able to experience what I experienced than who am I to think something else doesn't exist??   Something equally just as wonderful... I am a realist and always have been and that is probably WHY this has been difficult for me.  My fear that I felt when I thought I was in water has probably also inhibited me.  I don't actually feel afraid of experiencing anything again so maybe it is a subtle thing...my fear..   Or maybe I want way too much or am trying to hard.

So, I am on a quest of exploration I guess.  I, now feel ready to try again.  I put it all aside a couple of months ago and now it seems to have found me again.

I am excited by finding this forum and plan on being a regular here.

And you know, maybe I did have one other experience.  I was a child about 10 yrs old.  I had something happen that bothered me for years and is also still vivid in my mind.  I was sharing a room with my sister and we both had twin beds situated on either side of the room.  We were both in our beds and I lay there NOT wanting to sleep.  Our parents were also in bed.  Suddenly I started hearing a sound that encompassed everthing.  The tone did not change [it was low].  But the volume increased dramatically.  I could not see anything [my room was gone].  I could not move and I was terrified.  I lay there with my eyes wide open staring into a void with this sound that was so loud it was as if nothing else existed.  I kept trying to get up or call out but I couldn't do either.  All I could hear was this sound.  And then suddenly just as quickly as this happened,  the sound was gone and I was released from my paralysis or whatever it was.  I jumped up and raced to my parents room and yelled...what was that...what was that?  But they had not heard it.  They told me I was dreaming, but that was not true.  And it never happened again.

Was that a vibrational state??  Was I fixing to astsral travel?

Blossom

p.s.  Also in going through my purchased books on this subject, I discovered I have a book by Robert Bruce..."Secrets of the Soul", which is fabulous.  I don't see it listed in the book area for this site, but it should be.  I plan on ordering his other book this friday... from amazon.  11.95.  It says it is 560 pages or so if I remember right.  Wow!!  If it is anything like the treatise, it will be truely wonderful.  I can't wait.

p.s.s.  I was mistaken.  I saw Secrets of the Soul advertised when browsing for books that Robert Bruce had written.  You know how they suggest other books to buy as "in a set of two" at a cheaper price.  I misunderstood and am merely correcting my error.  It is still a great book.  I love it.  But the other one by Bulhman is much better.  At 44, one is bound to make errors....hehe

I can' t wait till Friday to order Bruce's book...!

Welcome, Blossom!

I discovered this forum just a couple of weeks ago.. It's been the best source of information I've been able to find on the Net... You get to see so many different perspectives and stages of development. An actual dialogue, which books and articles don't provide.

What has been best of all is the validation I've been able to give myself.. There's not a hell of a lot of people I feel comfortable talking about this stuff to, so it's been really nice to have that sense of ideas bouncing around. Like yourself, I've always been a "realist" too, perhaps even a little on the cynical side (for show anyway!), and it's felt really good to be able to let go of that and allow myself to identify myself as someone who has experienced AP. How exciting it is to challenge all the things you were taught to believe!

Good luck with your journey. I think everyone experiences AP slightly differently, and who is to categorise what is what? I consider that  I have had Astral Projection experiences spontaneously, one or two consciously, and I have also entered them via dreams, where I become lucid, but I still have that sensation of my sleeping body and the end experience of "coming back in".  Reading is important, but in the end, I think everyone needs to take it at their own pace and in their own way. You can read a thousand different affirmations, but the one that works best is still the one you wrote yourself.

Hi Blossom,
Reading your post reminds me of my 1st OBE, back at Christmas time last year.  You like me, weren't trying to have an OBE ... we both were doing the same thing, relaxing from an awake state ... although, I didn't experience ANY obe exit symptoms (sounds, vibes).  You can read about my experience at http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1336

As for the white basketball orbs, they could have been astral beings in a pure energy form.  Although I've never seen them, I have read about them ... I think Buhlman even discusses them in his books.

Good luck with your practicing at projection.  Are you still doing the "TREE MEDITATION"?  Since it "accidentally" worked once, it should work again.  Just imagine you're being a tree again ... perhaps in that beautiful blue place you visited.

Cheers!

hi Blossom,

I loved your account. Thank you for sharing it.

I appreciate your approach ('realism') - I am skeptical of OBE and AP although I regularly have such experiences. I wonder if they are internally generated or truly represent another level of reality.  Regardless of what my be at the root of such experiences, they are wonderful and lead us to ask more about life and existence! So they are 'good' things!

In my experience, the initial experiences were the most intense. This was about four years ago for me. Since then, I have repeating experiences of one sort or another, but they have not packed the same punch. I wonder if this is because I don't 'need' such a profound experience (need at a spiritual level) as I did four years ago.

Welcome to the forum!

Hello everyone and thanks for the great welcome experience!!

And I am pleased to see that others have seen blue..

There are several questions I have been asked and I will attempt to answer then all..

1. ABOUT "Secrets of the Soul":
I was mistaken.  I saw Secrets of the Soul advertised when browsing for books that Robert Bruce had written.  You know how they suggest other books to buy as "in a set of two" at a cheaper price.  I misunderstood and am merely correcting my error.  It is still a great book.  I love it.  But the other one by Bulhman is much better.  At 44, one is bound to make errors....hehe

2. "TREE MEDITATION"
Yes, I still try this, but it always knocks me out [I go to sleep].  I have tried to recreate my frame of mind at the time to no avail.  I remember how I lay and exactly how my pillow felt and every other detail.  I have tried to do the rope technique also and this has helped me go deeper and deeper into a trance state and I can actually maintain that for for an hour or so, which is awsome in itself.  But I never go beyond that.  The other thing I have done and possibly this was working, but I am not sure. I read in one of my books that sometimes [and I am not sure if I really believe this..] that you can ask for assistance from a guide or a deceased loved one.  Now, like I said, I am NOT absolutely convinced of this guide thing.  I would have to experience it.  But, willing to give it a try, I did the rope method and went very very deep in a trance state.  Also, for clarification, what I call a deep trance state is when I feel nothing.  It seems as though I am in a black void where nothing exists but my mind. I am aware of my bed and being in it but I am not astral projecting.  This is my "stuck state" meaning I get stuck there and don't go any further... But this particular time, when there, I asked my dead father to assist me in getting out.  I felt ridiculous doing this, but I did it anyway.  Nothing happened but I continued to lay there.  I heard my son and his girlfriend in the living room and drifted off to sleep wishing it would happen.  This was about 6 months ago. I remember dreaming I was sitting in a chair with my dad coaching me on how to project.  In my dream I could feel an emmense pressure being exerted on the inside of my head as I tried to get out of my self.  Suddenly I woke and was aware of my son and his girlfriend talking in the living room again.  But as I drifted again to sleep, before I slept, I remember having the exact feeling I previously dreamed of.  Like some pressure pushing on the inside of my head trying to get out. Only this time I was awake.  I think I nearly projected but did not... The reason I think this is because the pressure felt like it was me and I was escaping from myself..  And I don't mean this exactly like I wrote, because I just can't word this exactly like it happened.  But basically, the feelings I experience of my in dream occured while I also awake a few minutes after waking.

My only other experience was once when waking I experienced a quick sucking motion at the moment of awareness from sleep of going into my body through my head.  This was way before I realized I believed in astral travel... I was still in denial. I thought it was a dream and tossed it aside... I did not realize the significance of what it was.

Major Tom:
You have seen the blue!!  One difference we had was my lack of sound.  It was absolutely silent where I was at.  That brings to mind a question.  Are there limits to what can be done when having an experience?  I mean place limit? Time limit?  Or is the universe ours to explore during any time and place?  And IF that is true, then we as human beings have placed limits on our very developement and on our own experiences or lack of? I am starting to think fear is the root of all limits?  Any opinions on this?

White basketball orbs
Wow, I had not thought of the white orbs being energy forms of people.  I just thought or preceived them to be bubbles since I had also thought I was in water.  Big shiny bubbles that were possibly energy forms.  My god, this is so amazing.  This was the most beautiful place and my fear now is that I will not ever return...  alas...

Well, I am sure I missed something.  Thank you all for talking with me about it.  I told my husband about my experience right after it happened.  He had one question:  "What kind of tree were you honey?"...  He says he believes me but one of us needs to keep our feet on the ground.  My mother on the other hand at 68 years old thinks I have lost it and that I am a satanist or a non believer of God or something.  I believe since analyzing this that God is many things and if we can do this, then it is okay.  I also believe that God might be mans way of explaining the unexplainable. I believe people are much much more than what we visually see with our eyes.  We just might be truely limitless.. We just have to believe it!!  This is what I tell myself anyway and is the thing that makes the most sense to me.  I just feel the need to understand.  Not out of fear, but out of reasoning it through for deeper understanding..

Greetings Blossom!

Welcome to these forums, it is very nice to have you here http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>  And thanks for sharing your experience with us, which definitely sounds Astral to me - not necessarily am OBE as such, but Astral vision due to your altered state.

With regards to "God" and the continuity of life after physical death, you might like to take a look at my new site Spiritual Truths which has quite alot of information on these things - and of course I will be adding to it on an ongoing basis.  The url is http://www.spiritualtruths.org It is best not to try to convert cynics or non-believers of these higher realms or inner states of reality, or for that matter of an alternative vision of their "God", they will only likely try to disillusion you without intending to, and it might slow your own progress. When they are ready to see they will, but it might not be necessarily in this lifetime but a future one - everyone will eventually.

"God" and the bible (without wanting to get too controversial) is (in my opinion anyway) largely fable based upon the high misinterpretation of what really occured 2000 years ago, and which is very highly symbolic, and possible due to "Jesus" being a high Master, Adept and initiate on a special mission, and not performer of "miracles" as such. Unfortunately, symbolic events have been interpreted and conveyed in a material world way, and the result is the bible we see today and the worship of "mammon". I can give you a few examples - Moses climbing the mountain was probably  Moses actually climbing to a higher state of consciousness and consulting with the Masters at that level. Genesis 1 was (in conjunction with the Sephir Yetzirah) an account of the creation of the higher realms of reality, not the physical world, and the great flood was probably an account of the destruction of Atlantis - not the entire planet!

"God" most certainly exists of course as the great creator and master of of the Universe, and of whom each and every one of us is an eternal part or "child". God in these circles is often referred to as "the Great Spirit", "Divine Providence", "Akasha", the "First Cause" etc.. It doesn't matter though - people are worshipping the creator and Master of the Universe and the "Father" of which we are all sons and daughters. Of course "Hell" does not exist as "down below", it is the lowest levels of the Astral realms.

Religious people are at no advantage when passing on after physical death, and are often disadvantaged in fact. The entire Universe at all levels from the very highest to the very lowest - this physical world - are governed by immutable, inescapable, inflexible eternal laws of cause and effect, which happen in perfect sequence, effect following cause, and each and every person is subject to those laws. Being religious makes zero negative difference, and not being religious does not mean an eternity burning in "hell", in fact, not being religious is more likely to give you a much better start in the "afterlife", the Astral realms, than is the case for a very religious person, who could have serious problems.

Welcome again.

With kind regards,

Adrian.

We are Consciousness!
Copyright (c) 2002 D. E. Berry Jr.

That is a good suggestion amcturbo had. Those could have been energy beings, and that was my first impression while reading the post. Wonder why you had no arms and legs? I experienced the same thing. I'm for sure I was OBE, yet I was just a point or area of consciousness.

You can use your intent and make for yourself a nonphysical body by feeling for one. FEEL for your arms and legs; something like how you would do when tactilely using rope. A body will just pop into place- at least that is how it worked for me. Try it.

Sincerely,

D. E. Berry Jr.

I have a question that came up as I read Adrian's post.

What is the difference between and astral experience and an OBE?  I thought they were one and the same..

Thanks, Blossom/Jennifer

Greetings!

Astral projection and OBE are technically similar in that they are both experienced (or appear to be experienced) external to the physical body - and in fact usually are.

It is of course possible to "focus" into the Astral by not actually leaving the body (as such) in an etheric or Astral double, but by raising awareness in the appropriate altered state of consciousness from the physical. Both are Astral experiences, but I believe the future is in the latter rather than the former for the reasons I discussed before, and are being discussed in the other OBE forum under the Gateway threads.

Lucid dreaming could well be another type of Astral experience, but not in the main levels of the Astral. I think that they take place in the Astral at individual psyche level at the lowest level, to the "group consciousness" at the other. In both cases however,as it is the same type of etheric Astral matter involved, it still has the Astral characteristics of mind influence, and therefore it seems possible to create individual realities within the psyche. Of course, when lucid in that way, it is possible to become aware of that, and raise the vibrations to a higher Astral level so it is more like Astral projection.

The psyche can be a tricky thing - mediums and people doing evocation of "spirits" etc.,  can easily fool themselves (and others, particularly in the case of mediums), by evoking the contents of their own psyche's. or evoking phantoms, thought forms, elementaries etc.. The entity manifesting therefore would actually either be an aspect of the psyche of the operator, or oetherwise not a true Astral human. This also applies to mirror gazing and other such things.

With best regards,

Adrian.

I have only had one OBE.  But it doesn't fit into any of the catagories that I have read about... Not just here but everywhere.

It was last year and at the time, I did not believe obe's were possible.  In fact, when this happened, it was the fartherest thing from my mind.  My husband and I had developed an online relationship with this guy through a chat area who believed in relaxation techniques and he suggested I try one to help decrease my stress level.

He suggested I lay down prone in my bed and pretend I was a tree.  He said to imagine my feet and legs were roots going deep into the ground and that my head was the top of the branches and my hair was the leaves.  That sounds really crazy I know, but I did this for a couple of months for about 10 minutes or so each day.

Now, I want to point out that I had NOT been reading about, discussing or thinking of astral travel.  I did not believe it was possible.  I was only meditating in my eyes.

Then one day, as I lay down, I started my same routine.  I remember being on my left side.  After about 5 minutes or so, I heard a loud buzzing in my right ear.  I remeber thinking, what the heck is that?  And so I concentrated on listening to it, trying to figure it out.  I forgot about being a tree but I still lay still on my left side.  I don't know exactly how much time passed as I listened to this buzzing, but probably only a couple of minutes if that.

Then, out of the blue, I heard and entirely different type of sound in my right ear.  This was more like an actual tone that was growing in volume.  I could tell the buzzing was internal, but the other sound was different.  And so for a few minutes I continued to lay there going back and forth between the two sounds.  The louder sound in my right ear won out and I concentrated on it wondering where it came from.  I was home alone and I knew it was not in my house. So I was relaxed.

The next thing that happened took me totally by surprise.  I did not see my body as everyone talks about, but was happened was I turned over to my right side.  But it was different than just turning over in bed.  I was aware of turning but at the same time, I couldn't feel myself turn.  When this happened, I was freaked out.  I went with the flow however and marveled at this.  I remember thinking..I wasn't trying to turn.  And then just as quick, I turned back to my left side again.  And again, I couldn't feel it.

I want to point out here that I was not asleep.  I was wide awake but with closed eyes in a very relaxed state of mind.  I was NOT dreaming is my point.  When my body was back on it's left side again, I began hearing the droning sound in my left ear again and then.....this is hard because I am not sure how to explain what happened.

It was instantaneous.  Suddenly, it was as if a black curtain came down in front of me blocking all light from behind my closed eyelids and at the same time, I heard a pop and as the blackness lifted, I "saw" an incredible blue. [I am calling this a curtain because I don't know how to explain it.  It went down and up in a split second.  It was like black, pop, and then blue]

Oh my god, it was awsome...  I knew instantly I had astral traveled and instantly thought of that and knew it was real.  I couldn't believe it.  Everything was this glorious shining brilliant blue.  Above me, below me and beside me.  I was surrounded.  I remember thinking..if I open my eyes, this will be gone and so I lay there.  I was always aware of being in my bed but my bed was not in my consciousness at all.  I don't know where I was.  But I have never seen a blue of that shade before.  And so I looked around.  I didn't walk anywhere.  I just looked at this blueness.  And as I looked, white shining round lights that were possibly were the size of basketballs started floating around me.  They were rising in unision and were uniformly distanced from each other.  I remember wondering what they were.  I noticed them moving upward and so I looked up also.  As I looked up, I saw lots of them moving upward.  The thought came to me that I was in water and they were bubbles and so I became afraid of drowning which now seems ridiculous to me.  But at the time, this is what I thought.  I decided I had better swim upward also and so I went to move my arms and couldn't.  I looked at my self and couldn't see my arms.  I didn't have any.  I looked down and my legs were gone too.  I freaked out and opened my eyes and sat up quickly.  I felt dizzy and very disoriented.  I took a couple of breaths and lay back down and closed my eyes.  I instantly could see the blue rushing back towards me which sounds odd, but it is true.  I sat back up and got up out of bed and walked around.

I have since tried and tried to no avail to repeat this experience.  I have read so many many things on astral travel and NOTHING sounds like what happened to me.   I have never floated out of my body and touched the ceiling..  I have never per se felt a vibrational state with certainty.

But I went somewhere and I was aware.  My ego was there.  I was absolutely awake and knew I was in my bed.  It was the most incredible thing that has ever happened to me.

And that's my story...  I have left out a few details due to the length of this, but I have never forgotten this.  It has been a little over a year now and the memory is just as plain..  I know the people that read this will think I was having a lucid dream but that is not so.  I was not asleep.  In fact, only 30 minutes passed from the time I lay down to when I actually got out of bed.  And so I feel I went to another "something" in 30 minutes.  This occured during the day...  For days and weeks afterward, everytime I saw blue, I compared it.  I have never seen this shade before.  Everything glowed and seemed to have some sort of light of it's own.  Even the white round lights appeared shiny and glowing.
