I'm sure plenty of people are already familiar with isochronic tones as an alternative to binurals, but I thought I'd post this link anyway for some iso-tones you can check out and download for free. (Creative Commons Copyright so it's ok) http://iso-tones.com/tones.htmlI've been playing with them a bit lately and have noticed some interesting effects. I haven't used the meditative/spiritual ones yet, but the ones to wake you up and make you more alert have been working.

Daaaang... I used the "awake" one too. Woke up dead tired, could barely stay awake. Then I played it and it was CRAZY.
The Astral Projection one kind creeps me out though...

I agree it is perhaps a little unnerving to listen to but I guess you are supposed to listen to it very low like hemi-sync aren't you? Not (too) scary when it's on low.

Thanks for the link PR!
Are these like binaurals in that they have differing leftchannel, rightchannel frequencies? Does that then require headphones for best effect or can I play them on normal speakers?
Also, are these MP3 files only? Can I put these on my Ipod or Iphone? (sorry, I'm techno/slow) Thanks,EV

Nope, Isochronics do not require that you wear headphones. It's not two different tones. It's one tone at a certain rate and frequency.
You can right click on the links and save as. That will let you download the mp3 and put it on your ipod or whatever.

These seem about as effective as binaurals for me; this is funny in a way, since the producers of binaurals generally claim the way binaurals are presented allows them to do things which a single monophonic tone would not.
The way it is normally explained is that binaurals are necessary since we do not normally register tones with frequencies as low as those which our brain normally operates at (2-40 hz), and so two tones are necessary, where the brain works out the difference in frequencies, and pays special attention to this oscillation between them as the focused frequency.
I am not saying that binaurals have no advantage, but it is strange to me how these "iso-tones" are able to produce similar effects with the above in mind.

from what i've read, iso-tones are supposedly the "new evolution" of brainwave entrainment technology.

I listened to an interview with Robert Bruce about a year ago and in it he said that it's been known for a long time that binaurals have the same effect even without stereo sound, but people hold onto the whole stereo idea because it sounds good. I can't verify though.

Well, that's at least an easy one to test. Take a binural track and push both L and R channels through a single speaker.
You'll either hear the "beat" ... or a mixture of both sounds.
