I've been 'practicing' AP for about 4-5 weeks now and have successfully left my body 5 times (3 of which has been within this past week). I'm having a bit of trouble with a couple things so I thought I might visit a new forum to see what you guys have to say.

I want to post my dream diary for my first 5 times just in case anyone likes to read and interpret them (by all means, you don't have to so skip down to questions if you want, sorry couldn't get spoilers to work).

To start out what I can remember, I was in my friends apartment playing a game while they watched. Can't remember the game or what about. At one point, while I was supposedly playing the game, it put me in it. Next thing I knew, I was in my room. It felt like I had just waken up but something was different/weird. I got up (which was me leaving my body actually). There was a weird noise going on. It sounded like a mix of rubbing and heavy wind. Kinda like vibrations that were pulsing. I went for my door, but my body felt really heavy like it was fallen asleep. My vision wasn't very good, like I was half closing my eyes and it would close every now and then. I had trouble opening the door, like my hand eye coordination was off, but I remember I'm supposed to get as far away from my body as possible so I hurried up and opened the door fast. I was stumbling as I was walking and going down the stairs, but I never tripped or fell like I felt I would have. As I was walking, I saw weird figures in front of me. Kinda looked like a unfinished model of a person but sometimes it would change very rapidly to more unknown figures. I was in my kitchen and wanted to turn on the lights so I went to where the switch was and flipped it I guess (don't remember exactly) but no lights came on. In fact, It got darker somehow. I remember screaming pretty loudly "turn on the lights". Then, for some reason when I saw the figure in front of me, I initiated a fight with it. I was going pretty hard on it which surprised me. I imagined a protective shield around me which I guess help me not be afraid of whatever I was fighting. Nothing was budging, so I decided it was time to wake up before I got scared. I don't remember how I did that, but I think I fell down at that point and then instantly I was in my bed in the laying position and instantly sat up. Except the noise and body feeling was still the same, I had known I didn't actually wake up. But shortly after realizing that, I really did wake up.

This happened a couple nights ago but forgot to write it down. Happened the day  before the other one.
To start off I was leaving my body by rolling out of bed. I tried to imagine myself in outer space or at the moon. It starting doing the vibration thing but I decided to stop it because I wanted my first teleportation to be somewhere on this earth. I first tried to fly off. I did a running start then jumped towards my wall. I was flying but when I hit the wall it was like it was made of elastic rubber or something and I couldn't completely break through. I then decided to teleport to new Zealand. When it worked, it looked kinda like everything was 8bit, but better looking. I would say like 16 or 32 bit maybe. It looked nice besides being in bits. Then I noticed that the ground was actually platforms and it felt like I was Mario in a platforming game or something. I would have to jump from one moving platform to another. I was on one when it went really high and started flipping over. I fell and fell a really long way down. I looked down as I was falling and saw lava. I decided to try to fly up. It was working but the lava was rising too fast. It caught up and I went back to my bed. I decided to walk out my door and as soon as I did I heard a very vivid song but it wasn't one I recognized or remember. I went to my brothers room because I thought it was coming from there and as soon as I got in his room he woke up and asked why I had eyesockets. I told him everyone does and he looked into his reflection in the wall (??) and that's when I woke up.

I started off in sleep paralysis. This time it was rather hard to get out. Started with my fingers then my toes and went from there until I could roll out. I rolled out right onto my desk and futon. After that I tried to teleport to new Zealand. I would concentrate hard but it wouldn't finish through. On the last try I visualized a map, and pinpointed new Zealand except I accidentally pin pointed Australia. I thought the teleportation might have gone through, but I was still in my house. I figured I might have just been in a house in new Zealand. I looked through my door knob hole (I had no door knob for the longest time but its recently been put on - I realize that happens in the plane) So I started going downstairs. I kept falling and stumbling. I walked by my parents room and they were awake. I asked if they could see or hear me. They said yes and I walked outside. It was night and the stars were very vivid and there was more than normal. I decided I was still at my house and that meditating under the stars would be a good way to initiate my teleportation. I went around the house and found a chair to sit in. Except when I would go to sit in it, I would fall right through the chair. I tried this several times. At this time I notice my dog was with me. The last time I tried, I fell through and figured i would just lay on the ground. Except the grass seemed to be higher over me and there was a big bat type thing a couple feet higher than me and it was snaring at me. Tried to ignore it but it was a big nuisance. I wasn't scared (I always visualize a bubble around me that always protects me) but I couldn't imagine teleporting with that thing there. So I decided I was in his territory so I got up and tried to move to a difference spot. I don't know what exactly happened next, but something must have because I do remember that I'm pretty sure I initiated waking up. Maybe I had enough of that bat.

Starting off where the last thing I remember before falling asleep was a scenario where I could chose either to relive the same life over and over again doing whatever I wanted different each time or I could just live the right life once. Felt like I was still awake at that point but it jumped straight to sleep paralysis. This time I just tried to wake up but couldn't. So I went with it. I left the body and tried to imagine myself at new Zealand but it didn't go through. Then I pictured this waterfall picture we used to have and tried to imagine myself there. Tried really hard several times but when I opened my eyes I wouldn't be there. On the last try, I went somewhere but it was completely dark and I came back to my bed right after. I want to say I was underneath the waterfall but really I have no idea. So this time I decided to go downstairs to see my dad. On my way down the stairs, I noticed his light was on so I called out to him. I noticed that when I tried to call out, I wouldn't actually be talking. I tried yelling, but that didn't work either, like I had no voice. I went into his room and he was on the phone and he was crying. This was really weird. I asked him what was wrong (this time my voice was fine) and at first he didn't want to say but then he said he was talking to linda (my aunt) about the baby and he didn't want to admit it but he missed him. Now as soon as I heard this I woke up. No idea what he was talking about. Only thing I could think of was that it was coming from the show the walking dead because I just watched the episode where he lost his baby. I also had dreams about being in the walking dead situation tonight too. [

Started off with sleep paralysis, but this time it was really easy to leave. Basically just got up with no problem. I tried concentrating on going to the moon (I've been making goals the past couple of days to go to the moon, fly, and then talk to people). I concentrated on going to the moon, so I visualized the moon and that I would fly to it. It seemed like it was working, like I was flying to it really fast. But the closer I got, the more pixelated it got. Like instead of flying to it, I was zooming in on it. Like you would zoom in on a picture on a computer and it gets pixelated. I tried this about 3 times but got the same results each time. I decided to give up on that and to go downstairs. Before I even got to my door, I had a really hard time getting there. I felt insanely dizzy, I kept leaning/walking to other directions that I didn't mean to and sometimes, my whole body would flip (head would be where my feet would be) except that I was a little bit off the ground. I finally made it to my door and went downstairs. My mom and brother were watching hulu, and asked them what they were doing up so late. I stumbled to the wall and then woke up.
[/spoiler]

Now for my questions:

What's up with the whole 'jumping' back to my bed/body once I try waking up in projection? Can this occur several times? Seems like it only happens once and then I wake up for real.

I need some help/tips on the whole teleporting thing. I feel like the whole vibration thing 'finishes' but most of the time (9 times outta 10) I'm still in the same spot once I open my eyes. Can anyone help me with some tips on this?

Are objects in the astral physically transparent? By that I mean, I tried sitting in a chair outside during a projection and I kept falling through it.

Is it normal to always feel like I'm stumbling during my first few projections? Also with missing the door knob several times when I tried to grab it. One projection I had, it felt like I had been spun around 1000 times and couldn't even stand still without randomly moving towards on side of the room to try to keep balance. I understand it might be with my astral hand-eye coordination being off because I haven't consciously been using it until now. Just wondering if it goes away once I get used to it.

Do you have a voice in projection? Or is it just mind reading/talking (read that might be the case) ? I noticed when no one is around and I try to talk it feels like I have no voice and I struggle (even though it's not that big of a deal, it's kinda scary having no peace of mind that anyone can hear you if you talk/scream)

I appreciate any and all responses so thanks in advance! Smiley

Hi Jellyz welcome to the Pulse.
You are having all the typical beginners problems and these are easily resolved by further practice.
Waking up? What are you trying to awaken? If you are trying to awaken yourself then expect what is already happening.
You are already aware and concious of yourself while non physical, all you need to do is deepen it. Push one of your hands through the other or put them a few inches from your face and hold them there. They'll melt away, put them down and back again and you have hands again. This usually clears the groggy feel.
What you think, is what makes things happen. This thought manifestation action will take a bit of time to learn.
Any doubt and it usually fails. Your teleportation problem sounds like some doubt of your ability exists. Thats the reason it only works on occasion. If you knew it would work every time, it would do so.
The solidity of items is based on your thoughts too. A wall can be solid or mushy if you think it will be one or the other.
Some items get recycled if the thoughts that created them fade. Create a sword and hold it still, with no more thoughts on it, it melts away...
The flitting around is you not in total control of your thoughts. This is normal, give it time and you'll get it right. communicating is faster if done mentally. You can talk but deep down the thoughts that are within the meaning of the words are whats being interpreted. Words can't explain everything. Thoughts can...

Thank you for answering all my questions! Especially the hand tip, looking forward to trying that out. That makes sense about any doubt and it fails. I feel like I get so close so many times and then the last second it just doesn't follow through. I guess the first step is to believe in myself more. I'm glad to know that everything I'm going through is normal. Any suggestions on things to do in astral that beginners would have an easier time doing? I figure by now that teleportation might not be the easiest thing to start off doing. Someone from another forum suggested that I start off by merely observing and trying to stay in astral for as long as possible. I'm going to try that before trying to change too much or teleport places, but I'm not sure what much would come out of just hanging around my house. I suppose try to contact entities or a guide?

Overall, I'm really loving this. I know I'm not doing much or experiencing that much, but I love how much of a learning experience this has been. Even if it's little by little right now, I feel like I'm learning a lot and experiencing something new and strange with every trip back to the astral plane. The strangeness of it is probably what's intriguing me so much right now. Like last night when I was so disoriented that it felt like I was in zero gravity where I would be upside down sometimes.

That's the magic of it all. In the early days you tend to be in what looks like the physical world, it has it's oddities like a chair you fall through lol.
The thing to do is experiment with anything near you. Floating is so easy when your mindset has a grip on the way things work. In the beginning this has to be adjusted to from the physical walking only way of getting around. The translocation you found difficult is so easy too. You think of where you want to be, know you'll be there seeing exactly what's expected and you're there. It can help if you close your eyes during the move. This is another physical world thing doing it's trick. It's a limitation of the mind not being used to doing it while awake. You blank the move out knowing you'll be at your destination.
You are in control of so much of the experience it can be too much to handle at times. This is where you've already had many experiences and something different comes your way. The idea is to stay calm and observe it. Know it can't affect you in any way and then dealing with it causes you to stay focused and not let fear run away inside your mind. This aspect if not worked out can be frightening. The simple truth is, you only scared yourself.
Examples already exist on site. From watching a bag blow across a road infront of you, your mind may see the bag as an animal you've not seen before. Fear of the unknown kicks in and as your thoughts manifest, you create a monster from this simple event.
It's having the fear response switched off that's needed.
This is the mindset required.
Know that nothing can injure you and everything is a selfmade creation, even if it appears not to be the case. Fear nothing because you have total control of everything and as you learn new skills there may be some hiccups.
This will really help in those wierd situations where fear can manifest and stop you continuing your travels
An extremely scarey experience is all it takes to be put off.  Don't accept anything like this and if necessary go back to the physical and then try again. The "well that one went pear shaped didn't it" comment, is what you'd say to yourself. A learning experience.
Most are really nice, one or two will test you and you fears.
Be ready and laugh at these cockups, you will have many as you learn.
Fear, meh , it doesn't exist...

Thank you Szaxx, as always. I come here often to read your last posts. I have had a handful of spontaneous Obe's but now that I'm trying to get there myself.......I have conversations with myself all day, " F it, I'm ready, whatever happens, happens. I want to retrieve" And then I set my alarm for 3:30am to try and then I usually spook myself out of it or fall back asleep. This fear thing.....I was such a spooky child.
What's funny is about the 3:30 thing, I was attempting to go out around 5am, and nothing was happening,  then suddenly almost like a giant billboard, " 3:30 " appeared before me. Like they were saying you dummy....this is the best time to try!
Reading your advice helps so much. I will not give up.

Thanks again for that well thought out post Szaxx. I went OOB last night and tried out the hand thing. I couldn't push one of my hands through the other but I was able to put one of my hands in front of my face and it actually did go kinda invisible. My focus did improve after that too. Everything looked pretty clear. Last night I decided to talk to people more and stay in projection longer, so I went to my parents room and tried talking to them but only got one sentence out of them before I woke up.

This seems to be a recurring thing. Everytime I have a conversation with a family member, it doesn't last past a couple seconds, usually just one conversation and then I wake up. Not sure what the deal is. But next projection I'm going to just walk outside and take a walk or see where it leads me. I guess I don't like the fact that it's always dark in my projection, but I'm going to face it and try to get over that by taking a walk in the dark. Maybe something eventful can actually happen this time. I'll keep in mind that fear doesn't exist. I like imagining a protective barrier around me, helps to not be afraid of anything negative that I see.

I also wanted to mention something strange that happened last night (and at least one other night). Right before entering the sleep paralysis stage, I want to say I was having a mini dream when this happened. But someone/something was telling me to wake up. It was either a normal voice or for some reason I want to say it sounded like it could have been a song with lyrics telling me to wake up. Whatever it was, it said it twice. Of course, waking up as in coming into consciousness of my astral state. When I heard this I realized what was going on and I left my body. Nobody there and no more voice.

one other time (back before I knew what astral projection was, I had a sleep paralysis (didn't know what that technicaly was either - thought it was just a dream) episode where it sounded like someone opened my door and yelled "wake up, your broke"
does anyone else ever experience any voices telling them to wake up or other signs/noises letting you know about a projection in progress?

The hand thing, your thoughts are still physical world oriented. You think that one hand can't pass through the other and it won't. The idea is to know it will and add the expectation of it feeling warm or fuzzy.
The shouts can be generated to order too. These are one of those things that surprise you as they are so real and clearly defined. I have posted on their creation on site and these shouts can be heard a couple of seconds after you think you've actually woke up into the physical world. They are the same as that thunder noise commented on recently.
