I don't know the guy  Cheesy , I found the picture on internet with the google search engine. As for me wearing this funky kind of elongated string ''V shaped'' speedo; I don't know.... takes a lot of courage to wear that! I found another picture of the same guy! I'm sure he got a fan club now.... This speedo is just too incredible....

Super Speedo

See you on API,

Take care,

Bearing in mind the pseudo-mystical inferenceof the pyramid, and the generic "Island Paradise" I would highly recommend a change of venue.

A true experiment would be based on creating something 'New'

Could you explain what you mean a bit further? I don't see the problem...

Hi Scorpyn,

All I am expressing is a concern that the 'generic' nature of the API, and its associated 'Landmarks' could easily be 'recognised' in Dreams/Experiences, that are not necessarily related.

A common theme in the API 'experiment' is people reporting that they 'think' they visited, but details of other 'new' landmarks were discounted by other 'visitors'.

It's just an opinion, but the creation of a unique and easily identifiable 'destination' may serve the experiment more effectively.

Kind regards,

Geoff

That might be due to people re-creating the island instead of visiting the already existing island? Or did I misunderstand you?

Since the island is in the dream area, it seems kinda natural that things will change a bit from time to time depending on who visits the area. When people have problems staying in RTZ due to reality fluctiations, and try to go to this island, I'd personally be more surprised if everybody saw the island in exactly the same way.

Another thing - it seems like there are a lot of visitors to the island. This is probably good for its stability, but since many of these visitors are probably dreaming they will probably also modify the environment a bit.

Maybe there is actually more than 1 island created? Maybe the island looks differently depending on what "level" you are on?

hmm... I'll stop my rambling analyzations and wild guesses now before it gets out of hand  Tongue  wink

Forgive me if I'm being totally ignorant here, but a small, paradise island with a dirty great big pyramid in the middle is not an unique and easily identifiable 'destination'?

What do you suggest as an alternative - I'm intrigued...

That was, and is, *exactly* my point. "A dirty great Pyramid", and a "Paradise Island"

When Physics plays less of a role (never more!) in the 'reality' of the proposed API, *any* form would be possible, acceptable, and ultimately more 'real'.

How about a big Purple Orange? Smiley

As a side 'observation', "Astral Pulse Island" is acronymed to API... yes even by me... and in Computing terms; API == Application Programmer Interface. This is ironic, as an API is designed to make it 'easy' for developers to 'connect' to the 'application'/'source'... but in IT, the specs are defined, and so 'linking' is made easier.

Just an opinion!...

Gee - I thought I was confused before... Smiley

Personally, I like the island.

However, if you wish to go for the Purple Orange idea, no one is stopping you.  You could start a thread and see what develops...just a thought.  If it snowballs into something magnificent, I might have a bash at it too.

hmm...

Since I'm a bit of a programmer aswell, I know what you're talking about... but I'm still getting a bit confused...

Do you mean to specify the island in every detail? If so, I don't really think it's doable. It's way too impractical to get everybody to read a book of 300 pages just to be able to visit the island, and then also to remember all of it would be next to impossible...

Or did I misunderstand?
