I just checked this book out from the library today and I haven't read much of it yet, but I just wanted to see people opinions on it.

I've got some mixed feelings about it ... I really liked the first part where Buhlman describes his first OBEs and further experiences. The middle part where he explains all these quantum-physics topics seemed interesting, but a bit lengthy at times. It also gets quite repetitive (anyone counted the occurences of the term "multidimensional universe" in the whole book?). The final part with all the techniques is rather good again.

Hi Nay,

It was probably my 50th book!!!

Have you read:

The Projection of the Astral Body - Sylvan Muldoon (1929)
Astral Projection - Oliver Fox (1930)

the original classics?

also

Practical Astral Projection - Yram
The Mystical Life - J. H. M Whiteman

?

Adventures Beyond the Body -  It's a good book.  He does rather overdo the mathematical physics aspect, and tries too hard to curve-fit recent theories about multiple universes to the astral/physical model, but by and large it's quite an inspiring book.  I would recommend it.

Both books by William Buhlman were good. The second book is entitled: The Secret of the Soul : Using Out-of-Body Experiences to Understand Our True Nature
and it is also a good read.

That book was also my second book on OBE's!

I thought it was pretty good. To be honest, I skipped the part about quantum-physics or whatnot since it bore me to death.

Overall, a pretty good book, just skip that one part if you don't find that stuff interesting.

Now that I remember it, I expereinced my first OBE by using a technique from that book. (I think it was the one about visualizing another room and saying "now I'm out-of-body" before falling asleep.)

This was the second book on APing I read too!  I loved it.  I also really enjoyed the part on quantum physics.  I thought it was put in layman's terms quite well.  I would highly recommend this book.  It's one of my favorites.  Yet, it could be discouraging for the beginner because he makes things sound a little simple...  "Ask for 'clarity now'"  Well, it takes a while to get ones will up to speed. But I say, "read it!" There are plenty of useful tools in it. I think I'm going to have to get his other one now.

I'm reading this book and think it's great.  Having already read Dr Waldo Viera (Projections of the Consciousness) and Robert Monroe (Ultimate Journey), I definitely prefer William Buhlman's "Adventures beyond the body".

I like his writing style and the way he refrains from interpreting his experiences - the other writers tend to over anayse their astral experiences by creating specific structures for the astral plane and even new language for it.  William's narrative appeals to the ordinary reader, and he also backs his theories with quantum physics.  I know some people here said that's the boring bit, but the way I understand it, William thinks it is important for us to understand the quantum world in order to understand the make up of the universe, which should help us as we go OOB.

I hope the ending is as good as the beginning!

An intriguing guidebook for those who want to venture beyond the horizon of ordinary reality. I really like this book. smiley

I think it is one of the best books on OBE that I've read, and I've read most of them over the years.

I guess one reason why I like Buhlman is that a couple of times I emailed him, not really expecting any return, but he actually emailed me back with thoughtful and respectful answers.  That was before he moved to China a couple of years ago.  He's harder to contact now.

Blessings, DH
