Has anyone else read this book? I've just started it and I'm hooked. It talks about all the things I am always thinking about- mainly the mind and reality, how they relate to each other, how our thoughts create reality, and it even gets into language and its link to reality. I think I'm going to have to pull an all-nighter to finish it. Otherwise I won't be able to concentrate at work!

I read this book on your reccomendation and it is very interesting.
I nearly gave up on it halfway through but I'm glad I didn't it is a good read.
Apparantly it is required reading for one of the top military academies in America, that's interesting considering it's kind of a philosophy book- that's what swung it for me to get hold of a copy.

Sounds interesting, would you tell me a little more on what it's about? I may purchase it.

it's quite a hard read actually... don't actually know if I would particuarly recommend it... it's by a psychologist & it's basically about how you create your reality, and he draws parallels between Jesus and Carlos Castenada
it doesn't have any how-to it's like a philosophy book
I still think it's interesting if it actually is on the reading list for the top american military academy, not sure if it is though I just read that on an amazon review

Yes, it's about creating your own reality, from what I would describe as the perspective of a quantum physicist. Essentially, it's about perception, the mind, and its role in the creation of the reality we experience. The author describes a time during which he was a college student. I forget whether he was really drunk or not, but he suddenly realized that he could not be burned by the cigarette he was smoking, and extinguished it on his eyelids and other sensitive spots. He did not have a single burn mark on him the next day.

I'm currently reading a book called Relaxing into your Being (the first book in a two-volume series) by Kumar Frantzis, which teaches the Taoist water path of self-dissolving. I would say that this book makes one's entire being fit to do the things described in Crack in the Cosmic Egg.

The phenomenon described in Crack in the Cosmic Egg is a goal I have, and Relaxing into your Being offers a path that I can take to that goal.

Do you know what I found especially interesting about Crack in the Cosmic Egg
is the way he described the state of mind where people can, for example, not be burned by a cigarette or stick pins through their tongue or whatever as an autistic state.
I gather the author is some kind of psychology academic, I'm not sure if that use of the word autistic is considered valid?
does anyone know?

ps is that 'Relaxing into your Being' v demanding in terms of time and concentration it looks quite interesting.

No, it's not demanding of time and energy. Five to ten minutes a day. If you decide to get more serious, you can do the exercises in volume 2. It really depends on how far you want to go. There are simple meditations, and there are more advanced ones, and then there are even more advanced ones.
