Having only been reading and studying lucid dreaming for just over a week Im not too sure what to expect or what one feels like etc but last night whilst I was dreaming I said to myself whilst in my dream "oh its OK Im dreaming". Can anyone tell me if this is a lucid dream? It literally only lasted 2 or 3 seconds and then I woke myself up.
Any comments would be welcome

Yep I'd say you were as well because you recognized you were. One time when I was dreaming I asked the people in my dream if I was dreaming and they told me no! So then I kept on going in my dream. Lol I can't believe I got tricked like that by my own dream characters! Anyway, if this happens to you again see if you can take it further and take control of the dream.

I'd say almost but not quite. It's not just recognizing it as a dream, but bringing conscious awareness into it as well. Many people recognize the dream but still just go with it. You want control. But I'd say you were very close - recognizing it as a dream is the first step.

Once you know your having a dream it has to be a lucid one cause you know that you are dreaming, the only question is just how much consciousness and control you have over it. http://

As you know blidge we have already talked about this and as my LD (??) only lasted for about 2 secs I couldn't have had any control over it and I thought that you didn't 'control' your LD's. Maybe Im looking too much into this and need to back off and reasses

I never emphasised that you are in control as it was only 2 seconds but nevertheless the whole benefit of lucid dreaming is once your there is that you are able to control elements of the dream, no one can say for absolute surety that you cannot control every element. Theoretically you can control all elements as the world that your in is your creation, control your thoughts and with practice the world of lucid dreaming is at your command.

I think if you realize you were dreaming but it lasted few seconds, that means that your LD was begining and you got out! I say practice, and do not hurry!Get used to those feelings:) I don't have much experience but i can recognize a dream everytime i start to float, then i say,so i'm dreaming and i cannot only float but i can fly!And try to fly, managed to fly,and now everytime this happens(floating)i know that i am dreaming, and i see myself getting out of the body, but in the dream..so once i am out i can easyly jump through the window(i live at the 2nd floor),or i can easyly pass though walls! I am working now to gt more awareness in the LD,it can be an LD but the awareness can variate,so in my LD's i can do some things but still i feel like i am limited to awarenes! I propose myself before sleep that if i have an LD i will do some things, like a plan of actions! But when i am there i can't remember any ideas lol!So there was a recent one when an idea came, idea wich was to give a command, but instead to say ;;Awareness now'' cause it was definetly needed,i went much further, and i said ""I want to meet my essence,my spiritual guide"" now something weird happened then, like i was atracted into a light, warm and peacefull...but it suddenly stopped! That thing lasted almost 2 seconds,so it was more indicated to me that i should given the command ""Awareness now"" Thing is as soon as you realize that you are dreaming it is a LD but from there on needs exercise !!

What I was getting at with my response as "almost there" is that a 2 second experience you can't really get anything out of. Some people may call that lucid dreaming success, but when you have a good one where you're calling the shots, you'll see that this was just a baby step to the real-deal (which will be mind-blowing). Can't wait to hear about it.

Please do let us know about any minor successes between now than then. If anything, they're great motivators for yourself and others reading!
