Can anyone tell what the interpretation is of hearing a dog barking (no visual) in a dream?

What does a dog barking mean to you? What was the context of the dream?

There was no image. Just a loud sound of a dog barking. It was a dream because it seemed very close and startled me awake. I have no dog.

You could have psychically picked up on a neighbors dog, especially if your consciousness was drifting around your body.

their are a few types of dogs...animals...unfortunatly people call girls dogs...and of course their are the not so smart non/active police informents
so possabilities are many
