Dreams of demon like things

First post around here.

I have a question relating to the appearance of demon like things in dreams.

Now they are very vague in my memory when I awake. But I regularly get these dreams, which make my heart pound and give me an uncomfortable feeling. The most recent one involved seeing some kind of demon with red glowing eyes which were like a strobe, and telepathically it seemed to be trying to guarantee some kind of ownership over me and that I could never escape it. Then I woke up in the middle of the night which I rarely do. None of it seemed very real to me mind you. I'm quite a hardy person who isn't that bothered by "odd dreams".

Before that there have been dreams of being pursued by a ghost and when seeing it, there were slits where eyes would be but no eyes in there. Or, this general feeling of an evil presence.

Are these things in dreams just the mind playing on one's fears? Or is there a deeper meaning to it. As I've heard people talk about the dream world in some way being spiritually connected. Is it a background message indicating that my subconscious could be affected by something or not operating correctly?

Sometimes my dreams involve violent family arguments whereas in reality I get on with my family members fine and wold have no reason to think such thoughts about them. Like something is putting the thoughts in my mind.

Sometimes in a half asleep kind of state I hear a ringing tone, usually in my left ear. It usually just disappears by itself. I worked out with my piano that the note always seems to be a D, or C# or there abouts, and it's fairly high pitched. What could be the meaning of this? (it's not tinnitus or anything medical)
