I have often in the past enjoyed flying with Superman from the old 1950's t.v. show "The Adventures of Superman. We would get together in my dreams and have a great time flying side by side, even having races but he'd always cheat while having a big grin on his face-lol! In more recent times I've gone flying with the Superman character played by actor Brandon Routh in the new movie "Superman Returns". But we had a bit of trouble trying to fly side by side together because he was just simply too fast for me to keep up with since he can fly at the speed of a sonic boom and all. Still I had a good time with him and seemed really determined to help out with his superhero activities. I told him that I could do pretty heavy lifting such as carrying a person and possibly something a bit heavier than that but couldn't do any of the really superhuman stuff though.

Wow, what a fantastic thread, I just spent the last couple of hours reading every single post I have had many Flying dreams, it is only the past few years I actually started realising the connection & turning these into Lucid dreams Like mentioned right at the start of this thread, I used to have a problem with telegraph poles, I was constantly being held back & too scare to touch the wires as I lived in the city & they always wreaked havoc with my dreams My initial flying dreams were a result of Real life, where I used to take large steps stepping across the line / crack mark in the footpath, avoiding cracks when I was young just as a game, I started having these real clear dreams where I would do just that but would see how many cracks I could jump in one go It always seemed so real when I was gliding across dozens of cracks which in R/L I knew was downright impossible but It never occured to me about controlling back then as I knew nothing about LD Once I started developing a liking to getting off the ground I would have weird dreams where I was always trying to get away from someone or something, people would chase me & I would jump up into the air to get away but I would rise so slowly that these people would always catch up to me & pull me back down to which I would be scared something would happen & wake up Then a couple of years ago after reading up on Lucid Dreams & the ability to recognise Dreams through flight I had a similar experience where I was trying to get away from a group of people, I started to lift so slowly & then thought to myself "This is ridiculous, I'm dreaming, I should be able to fly faster than this" suddenly Woosh, I took off so fast, I got so excited, everything was left behind & I think my excitement & concentration on actually controlling the flight woke me up again, ever since then though, I haven't had any restrictions when I attempt to fly in dreams & I can usually travel however fast I want Has only happened a few times the past year with all my night shifts but when they do happen, they are great, I just wish I could maintain the dreams longer cause I am still having problems of when taking control I appear to be close to awakening & often wake up within a few minutes I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread, thanks everyone for sharing your experiences

Rereading this thread, I felt a bit nostoglic reading some of my posts from about 3 years ago in this thread (and a trace of a ToS breaking argument I had someone someone that didn't get deleted), so I thought I'd pop in with a few more of my experiences dreaming.
Normally when I fly, there's no resistance at all. I just go in the direction I want and that's that. Although, once while in the middle of a lucid dream, I found it really hard to fly down, I have no idea why. I had to 'turn off' my fight and let myself fall to go down.
But anyways, in one dream I had a few years ago, I was flying with my arms outstretched like a bird again. Except I wasn't flapping my arms. Anyways, I decided to try and propel myself with wind. All the sudden, I'm feeling this strong but soft wind pushing me from underneath propelling me into the air, much like birds do. It was a pretty fun experience.
The other weird part about flying is that often times, when I'm having trouble controlling my dreams, it's while I'm flying. I'll get 'stuck' flying in a loop, unable to break out, or like mentioned earlier, be unable to fly down or something.
But when all else fails, and I'm having problems flying, I can always super jump. Super Jumping has never let me down for some reason. Probably because my brain knows how jumping works in real life and so it's easier to extrapolate how it'd work if I had a little more 'oomph' in my jump.

My first proper astral experience I jumped and managed to hover with my face about 2 inches from the ground lol
The longest one I managed to do was flying by a over a lake on a sunny day, it was beautiful.

I can do ANYTHING in a lucid dream- I can change the weather, fly, walk (or fly) through walls, shape-shift, listen to whatever music I want (like my brain is the entire collection of music I have ever heard in my life), you name it, I can do it. I can even give myself wonderful surprises. All I have to do is remember the feeling of what it's like to have a really awesome day, open a door, and something will create itself that will produce exactly that feeling.

Man i haven't been in here in such a long time. Life's still gots a grasp on me - a choke hold : ) trying to figure out what it's all about... I know what it's all about but it's one thing to know and another thing to live it...
Anyways.. about flying in dreams (what a fun subject). I haven't had any for a while but i remember some cool experiences.
I remember flying around my house through walls, as fast as I could. I remember flying underground, going to hell, then getting scared and getting the helloutta there lol. I tried flying to heaven but couldn't make it..I don't think i was mature consiousnessly enough to expiernce it. I've also flown around different dimensions or planes of consiounsess?? with different people/spirits having races. Some times i would kick butt and other times they would blow me away like nothing..made me feel insecure and weak lol. Sometimes flying is such a breeze..no effort at all. but sometimes it's so hard to take off..i try climbing on the air? but gravity just gets a hold on me (probably more my state of mind) or i'll stay airborne for a few seconds and then come back down like my engine cut off : ) so I try jumping as high as i can and sometimes I can start flying but usually i'll just come down. Either way flying dreams are such a blast. Its fun to reminise about them

I frequently have flying dreams, only instead of flying, its more like jumping, or bouncing really high with a very low gravitational pull...I always end up landing back on the ground...The only time I have actually flown in a dream was during my one and only actual lucid dream.

i love flying!
last time i flew in a dream, i went right up to a commercial airplane, flew along side it. looped the right wing soared past the cockpit and landed some where in middle in Nevada desert. fought some aliens in hand-to-hand and woke up.

I have had one fully lucid dream that lasted (what seemed like) 5 minutes. I tried flying, and was successful, but I couldn't keep myself up because I don't think I really believed I could. In other, more frequent dreams I bounce very high and far, and land softly on the ground...I am usually aware I am dreaming in these dreams, but my actions are harder to control. I like the bouncing dreams, they're really fun, and I often bounce around cities, and off of buildings.

Figured I post my flying ability.
When I was younger, I was always able to hover or levitate. I would sit down and cross my toddler legs in a pretzel and concentrate. I would find my dream self levitating up in the air. But since I was so young, I was scared to go so high, but found myself doing so anyways. If I didn't go back towards the ground, I just flew straight up and remember waking up after that.
During my kid ages, I was able to...glide, is a good word. I could fly around willingly (within city/town limits) but found myself getting swept up in certain air tides and/or currents. It was like riding an invisible, unpredictable ride. I always had to guide my landing to land where I wanted, it was probably 60-70% control.
As a teenager, A whole new set of abilities came. I was able to hover, levitate, fly, etc.. even while having a non-lucid dream. I remember several instances from super jumps, walking the air, etc.... During my teens, this ability was VERY active, probably once a night or more. There are far too much dreams to count on my behalf of me doing these things.
Now, (I'm 18), I remember a few NEW experiences. I will be flying the WORLD. There would be like mini regions below me, showing different kinds of houses. I've had these in my teen years, but their more vivid now. One of them was the CLEAREST ever. I felt so different. I was in a zoo (dreaming), but I was trapped by animals and wanted to get out, so I flew out and up. Next thing I know, I'm on top of the world, the water, air, and sky were so DAMN CLEAR! The zoo below me had even changed, Penguins and birds flew around me and I could see a stray animal taking up it's own beautiful island like region. It was amazing.
their seems to be less of them ,but I've been trying to astral project every day, and I guess my attention is strayed, or I'm, just not remembering properly. I haven't had a lucid dream since I tried to AP, so I don't know. But I know when I do start to lucid dream again, I'll have more than enough control over my flying ability, and now that I've been reading up on OBE, I'll for sure try to use that flying ability to have an OBE.
