I have been trying to use the timer from saltcube's website for lucid dreaming.
Does anybody have experience of using this ?
I have tried this once and it beeps at 8min, 4min, 16min, 20 and 20 mins or something.
I could not complete one whole cycle as my body got restless and i moved out of my position.

What is supposed to happen at the end of one hour ie. the whole cycle of beeps is completed ?
Are we ready to go out of the body then ?

From the sounds of it, this is for inducing Lucid Dreams.
It looks like it interrupts your normal "falling asleep" patterns to confuse your mind to the point that you gain Lucid Awareness while dreaming.

From there, you can bring about your Astral Awareness and project... or just enjoy the Lucid experience. Smiley

<100th post>

I could not complete one whole cycle as my body got restless and i moved out of my position.
That's where his theory begins. He says that this restlessness is your body testing your mind to see if your mind is still awake. He treats mind and body kind of as two rivals. The body tests the mind repeatedly to check if it is still awake. If it comes to the conclusion that the mind is asleep, it shuts down body control and sleep paralisys takes place.

The two main tests are:
  1. Creating this urge for rolling over - If you roll over, the body will realize you're awake and break down the relaxation process
  2. Monitoring eye movement - If you don't keep your eyes relaxed, your body won't shut down. In order to reach SL you need to relax your eyes, that's the main trigger for SL.

The timer on the website contains different patterns. It is meant for you to get used to waking up at short intervals and then wake you up after one long interval. He assumes your mind will try to wake up at the shorter interval while inside the bigger interval, either waking you up completely or putting you into SL or giving you lucidity inside a dream.

You're supposed to go to sleep normally after you set the alarms. Make sure to be lying on your back, relax your eye muscles and don't roll over under any circunstance, that's all you have to worry about.

Example: 5min alarms + big 20min one: your mind gets used to waking up at 5min intervals and once the big interval comes up you have 15min of lucidity.

0min: go to sleep
5min: alarm goes off / you gain lucidity / enjoy lucidity or SL until you fall asleep again
10min: alarm goes off / you gain lucidity / enjoy lucidity or SL until you fall asleep again
15min: alarm goes off / you gain lucidity / enjoy lucidity or SL until you fall asleep again
20min: alarm goes off / you gain lucidity / enjoy lucidity or SL until you fall asleep again

By now your mind is used to waking up at 5min intervals and already expects to awake in 5min. Here begins a 20min wait time

25min: NO ALARM GOES OFF / You gain lucidity naturally because your brain got used to waking up in 5min / You have 15min of lucidity or SL time until the next alarm goes off.

The whole point here is to get used to walking the tight rope between awake and asleep states. When you're in SL, you can begin to try to separate the way you prefer.

 - After the whole beeping cycles has ended, your session is over. Go to sleep for real now because I believe this ruins your sleep patterns, but is still worth trying.

 - You try to go out of body during the short SL periods.

There is a setting that has wakes you up every 2 or 3 minutes so that you can try to have series of small SL episodes / Lucid dreams / OBEs.

10min: alarm goes off / you gain lucidity / enjoy lucidity or SL until you fall asleep again

Dunno abotu you but I sure as hell can't go to sleep in 0 minutes O_O!!! It takes me atleast 30 minutes of complete relaxation for me to fall asleep.

Then you'll need to adjust your program to start off AFTER 30 minutes.  Smiley

It takes me roughly 5 minutes to fall asleep.
You need to learn to relax your body and mind more to begin the sleep process.

omg you can fall asleep in 5 minutes!? Daaamn... I feel like I've been deprived of sleep all of a sudden D: !
I have to say though, after taking up 'Astrality' I have noticed I've been getting to sleep at decent times (mainly because I practice at like 8pm and end up falling asleep at 9/10pm after giving up Tongue)
Compared to what it used to be... 4am.. 6am? XD It's getting better Cheesy!

My goal is to fall asleep in 5 minutes ;p

also, PR, thanks for those - I'll try them both Smiley

No no, he means fall BACK asleep.

you use these sleep timers by waking yourself up a couple hours early in the morning and then turning on the alarm track and go back to sleep.  if you don't get up, just roll over, turn on the track and go back to sleep you can be asleep in a couple minutes.

Falling BACK to sleep takes roughly 5 minutes... yes.
Falling to sleep at the start of a night will depend upon how tired I am.  If I'm REALLY exhausted then it'll be anywhere from when my head hits the pillow to 10 minutes.  Generally on average, I do fall asleep pretty fast.

Will be trying this out, seems like a method suitable for me (hard time falling asleep at night - super easy to fall asleep within 10 seconds of waking up early) I might have to adjust it a bit though, as my sleeping pattern is weird and unreliable.
