Differences on the Chakra System: Colors and Number of Chakras

I've read a number of different theories about the chakra system. Some have different numbers like 8 or 9 chakras. ALso new systems of 12 chakras have been showing up for the coming "Earth Changes". There are also differences in the color systems. Anyone know the accurate ones?

There are 7 main chakras that relate to the human condition.

There is a difference in colors based on several factors. 

From some personal experience I can say that the color vibrations that have worked all the time for me are from bottom to top:
Dark blue violet/Red/Violet/golden orange/deep Green/Blue with white halo/ very brilliant light yellow.
