I think using any medication natural or otherwise is not a problem, however, pink elephants and other things can happen.

When I was a student at uni many years ago I was of the persuasion that the more alcohol one drank the better one felt. One night I was partying and so drunk that I had to go to my friends place to sleep it off. He was house-sitting a very old house who's owner, an old lady, was in a nursing home waiting to die.

I can't remember how I got there, I hope I didn't drive. Anyway I fell into the first bedroom I came across and crashed as one does in these situations. I woke up some time in the morning, the room was clothed in a pale ice-blue light, as though the sun was about to rise, and standing in front of me was this old lady, not really old but like in her fifties. It was the owner of the house, rather polite and nice, not being nasty to me at all.

I was sitting up in the bed talking to her. She wore a white gown all the way to the floor and she too shone with a pale light. I remember that she spoke to me about my future, I can't remember many details because when I realised that I was talking to someone who wasn't really there I excrement myself. I hid under the blankets and fell alseep until dawn.

I don't know if alcohol caused this to happen, because it happened again not too long afterwards at another house with a different 'ghost', and I wasn't drunk that time.

But I do think that alcohol and other drugs, natural or otherwise, are best left alone when trying to develop spiritually.

By the way, I have since met a lot of 'people' who have died in similar situations, mostly on the astral plane, my father several times and friends, and have regular OOBs, so I am not bull sh_ting here.

i think i am going to respond to astral c comments on drugs being left alone for spiritual development.

i agree.

i have only done marijuana and mushrooms once each in my life and both experiences were harmful to my body, though my mind was generally left alone. it seems my body is very picky about what substances are good for it and what isn't. i'm not sure if this is how it is with everyone's body, and that i am just able to feel the pain more accutely, but i think drugs are best left alone.

except for ALC*hic*HOL! Smiley just cause all it does is dehydrate me and gives me similar effects to sleep depravation.

Hi, all.

I think that it comes down to the individual and what they are trying to accomplish. I personnally have no luck with anything that "wakes me up". I cannot quit my concious mind enough to make the proper links to the subconcious. But this is just me. Alchohol has some effect, sometimes, but more from the relaxation side. I also notice this with nicotene, if I have not been smoking much, and am in a frame of mind to let the effects hit. It does not last very long 10-15 minutes, which is enough time to drop into a light "trance", but it always feels "unclean".

Having been the child of a hippie, with a stepfather that was a biker, and growing up in a VERY liberal climate, I have tried most "recreational" drugs. I will not comment on most, as I have left that part of my life behind me, but I am sure if you could control them ALOT could be done with certain psychedlics. Before I became "aware" of the non physical, I was doing things that I am still trying to accomplish. But I watched TO MANY people I cared about get lost with/from chemical abuse.

I DO NOT recomend trying that path, it can be achieved in a much more controlled (and recoverable) way without them. That being said, I have had some of my strongest awareness times when an old friend shared some marijuanna for old times sake. Maybe it was that I was properly relaxed or something. It also was effective (for me) in very small amounts only, if I was to "stoned" I couldn't do much at all. Of course that is true with all drugs. smiley

I find other things can get you to almost the same place, with MUCH more control. A hot bath, maybe with a glass of wine or 1 beer, a good massage,  using NEW or something similiar to relax your body and work out the kinks, and letting the stress of life dissipate before starting all works well for me.

Good luck, and make sure you control your lifestyle, not vice-versa.

Hey everyone !

I cannot advise using music for meditation or similar purpose, unless you want to meditate on the music...

Music will make it easier for beginners to calm their minds, as they have something to process, but generally I found it slows my developement.

Practicing concentration will yield much better results http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Like others who have posted here, I have a difficult time getting in touch with my higher self after having consumed any kind of foerign substance, even regular food (in large quantities)...

Because all of our bodies (albeit subtle bodies, etheric, etc.) are connected and if we have something affecting one of them in an unnatural way, it's going to throw it all off...  there's my two cents.

I find that when my life has become real busy, and I have sort of forgotton about doing energy work, meditation or any other development, that smoking some Marijuana, basically clears my mind, and the day after I feel more apt to do things of this nature, but I can't because of the blockage of the day after effect.

Doing light rec drugs, basically Marijuana,  is what woke me up from all the trivial things in the day time we think are important, and opened my eyes up to the world of infinate possiblites. Doing this told me that if a simple substance can change my perception of reality, then there has to be more to the world then I knew, and I was so very right.

I find that using drugs always induces very strong experiences when used with new or attempting AP ...BUT  it does seem to produce a weird reaction where I cant feel energy very well or project for at least a day or two (even with marijuana)

But i find my experiences to be worth a couple days of drained-ness
but thats just my opinion (i say that a lot)

Is it a problem to do NEW after drinking a few beers? I really donīt mean doning it in a drunk state, but rather after a glas or two of vine or some beers. The same goes for meditation- a small amount has a relxing effect on the mind (and the body?). Concentration might get a bit harder, but relaxation might get easier. And how NEW is effected by alcohol is an interesting question to. Obvously, to much alcohole wil give concentration problems, but above from that? I would love to hear some opinions!

As descartes said as he emtied the poison cup -"I drink therefore I am"
- or was it sokrates??  ( lol Smiley
