Hey, I realize this is my first post, but I've been browsing for quite some time. When I was younger I noticed that I had control over a peculiar feeling in my body. Just by making the conscious effort, as if utilizing a limb, I could cause an intense, almost tingling, sensation around the area of the groin (a bit higher). Doing this requires no active movement, or effort of any kind, I just do it-- it noticeable increases my heart-rate, gives me a strange floating sensation along with the tingling. For the longest time I've wanted to know exactly what is happening, or if it serves some sort of purpose in regards to the Chakras. Any sort of advice or wisdom is appreciated, as I am completely clueless myself. If you need any additional detail, I would be happy to share.

Have you tried doing the same thing at the sites of the other chakras?

It could be some sort of mild neuropathy causing neurons to dysfunction and resulting in chronic parasthesia around that area. This can manifest when there is a vitamin deficiency in the body. Ectopic beats may also be caused by malnutrition and the consumption of alcohol. Excessive coffee and tea drinking can exert palpitations too. It is worth noting that it increases your heart rate...do you have panic attacks? It could even be the start of an underlying heart disease. And there are other possibilities...gastro-intestinal infections can produce floating sensations too and what a coincidence(!) - you have the sensation just above the groin! Perhaps you are looking for answers in the wrong places? Medical advice is another venue you might want to consider in case there is a problem that could develop. Go see a doctor. You've got nothing to lose. This could be purely physical.

Hey, thanks for the reply as well-- I've been to the Doctor and there is nothing abnormal going on physically-- as I've said it's just been something that I could do on command, not a sporadic occurrence or a health issue. To provide further information about myself, I don't drink or treat my body negatively.

I'm glad that you treat your body like a temple. I hope the doctor you went to is not just some lame-arse GP. It could still be physical, though. Have you had any accidents lately that could have triggered this?

I'd also like to point out that it doesn't matter if you can control it. I can control my heartbeat to go slower or faster. I can also give myself goose bumps by thinking of something scary or exciting. The horripilation will make my skin go funny. Do you see the many ways in which thoughts can influence the physical body? And vice versa - the body can influence the mind (i.e. physical pain can influence your thinking).

Unusual activity in brain areas such as the thalamus and hypothalamus can also make you experience strange sensations, especially because the first one deals with spatial awareness, sleep, wakefulness, and sensory relay amongst many other things to do with consciousness. The second one is linked to the endocrine system which, combined, can give you an array of other symptoms.

Never underestimate the brain's potential. Then again, if you think it's something of a spiritual nature, don't let me tell you otherwise. You're the one who has the symptoms. Your call.

Good luck! wink

Thanks again-- I can only assume that someone with a medical license is competent enough to give out medical advice, haha. My ear drum ruptured last year, he patched me up (ENT specialist). I can't think of any accidents linked to it though, I can't remember ever not being able to do it. You could be right, and it could be some underlying physical cause. Wouldn't we all like to be spiritually connected in some tangible way? Tongue Just came here for advice/opinions in regards to this as a spiritual matter though, as I've delved way too deep into trying to figure it out as a physical one (to no avail).

Hmmm...how far was this eardrum ruptured? Is there a chance that you 'bruised' your temporal lobe? The ears are right next to it. On the other hand, it could be a symptom of unusual flow of prana and be more spiritual in nature! grin
