Music that helps with meditation that i listen to is : Pink Floyd Division Bell , that album has some really good stuff to relax and meditate to . Empyrium ( a Norwegian folk project was medieval black metal) This is a album i use to relax to in the woods its called " Where At Night the Wood Grouse Plays" .Another album that is a powerful religious album to me ( im a Odinist a follower of the old Norse Gods) Is Bathorys " Hammerheart " and The "Twilight of the Gods " these two album are a mix of classical/black metal and viking metal . There just some beautiful ballads on these albums . Also Sarah Brightmans Eden, Deliever me , TIme to say good bye and No one lives forever are extremly enlightening.

Most dear is fire to the sons of men,
most sweet the sight of the sun;
good is health if one can but keep it,
and to live a life without shame.

I enjoy listening to psychedelic, atmospheric and ambient style music when trying to get into different states.  I have some recommendations, but let me first say, that I have strange taste in music.  I would understand if not everyone finds it agreeable.
The Boredoms::Vision Creation Newsun
I think the band the Boredoms are amazing.  Their last two CDs have been moving from the noise rock, into a very tribal, atmospheric groove.  Julian Cope compared his first listen to this CD with his first OOBE.  I highly recommend this.  I listened to this CD before an intense OBE once and I think it put me in the right mood.  They are a Japanese, psychedelic/noise rock group.  It works for me.
Brian Eno: Apollo Atmospeheres and Soundtracks
This album was composed as a soundtrack to an outerspace documentary.  The music is largly airy and beatless.  It will put you in a trance very quickly.  Eno is the master of creating rich rooms of sound.  In this one he recreates the feeling of floating through sounds.  Many of you might know one of these tarcks as being on the Trainspotting soundtrack.  I recommend this CD as well as being good for inducing altered states.

Most music with too many pop hooks or loud lyrics can distract me when trying to "go somewhere".  I also have some cool jazz cds and ambient compilations which help a lot.

music is interesting- i paticullarly like pink floyd- however a couple weeks ago while doing the OBE techniques with heart racing into my mind pops one of the early pink floyd atmospherics- acid flashback i guess.
anybody have any drumming experiences?
one time about 15 years ago i was drumming with a group of about 30 stoned hippies,with drums and pecussive instuments, and was trying to find the beat and came into a space where i stopped thinking and became one with the beat -it wasn't like i could just drum along but i fell into an intense trance.
music is powerful
i"ll see you on the dark side of the moon

Hey guys

Yes I must say I've got a soft spot for pink floyd,I've got most of the collection except for "nice pair" & stopped collecting them at "momentary lapse of reason",my favourites were" the wall" "the final cut" "animals" "obscured by clouds",what is on the latest floyd releases? I havn't checked for a while .But yes they seem to get you in a very relaxed mood,love em.

I like Metallica too but mainly the earlier stuff from "kill em all" to "master of puppets",I still like the other stuff but they went on a tangent after cliff died.I learnt how to play most of their songs on guitar,the neighbours love it!

Hey Ralphm,they have a place here in Australia that is still doing group drumming & getting stoned,it's called Nimbin & they do it daily,caught in a time warp down there.hehe

Good journeys

pink floyd just released a 2 cd compilation called echoes, which has some of their early spacy stuff besides their later big sellers. Roger Waters just released a live verion, which is good although he is the is the only floyd on it.
just last weekend i was listening to his version of dogs, there was howling noises and ogran swirlings but i was listening to the constant beat of the cymbals and my body started buzzing-quiet in the midst of chaos

I must go & have a look at echoes,as most of my floyd on cd was stolen.Their earlier stuff was so trippy,but apparently they didn't do acid.On the album "pink floyd the works" you would think otherwise after hearing that song "several small animals,grooving together with picks in a cave".They are just an epic band in every way.Dogs,yes that was a good song.They are a band that can just jam well together.

Good journeys

Tommorow Never Knows-Beatles(Second best song written)
Leaves On the Seine-David Lanz(Calming)
Christophori's Dream-David Lanz(Made me want to study piano)
A day in the life-Beatles(Best song ever written)
Aeris Theme-FF7 (I love piano)

Howdy,

  Since tactile imaging is effective for so many, people seem to ignore what strength lies in music.  Since all individuals develop energy differently - visualization, tactile, music, etc...I'm sure there exists other ways to expand and grow energy wise.  Anyway, back to my point - could you guys list the artist and name of either music sountracks, individual songs, etc. that get energy flowing throughout your system.

I cannot express that in any other way, it is a rush of energy, a filling from inside...when you listen to that music.  It creates a deep emotional/energy reaction.  I ask this, because I am trying to expand my taste in music, specifically "energy charged" titles.

Mine include - Chrono Cross/Time Scar, Bach/Air on G, Lord of the Dance (don't laugh)/Celtic Dream, Chrono Trigger/Time Circuits, Delerium/Heaven's Earth, and Enya/The Celts...just off the top of my head.

I look forward to your recommendations!

Cheers!
Jason

PS - www.audiogalaxy.com is an excellent website to find all the songs...^_^
