Hi, hopefully i'm asking this in the right forum here...

I've done a little meditation and energy work over the past few years but i'd really like to start doing it more often. I feel i need to get past this issue before that can happen.

My main problem is that i have trouble with tension. Whenever i focus on a part of my body for more than a few minutes it begins to tense and feel uncomfortable. It seems almost like awareness = tension for me. When i am doing energy work it is the same issue. I stimulate energy fairly well but if i stay on a certain area of the body it will soon tense up.

If anyone has any thoughts or can offer advice it would be really appreciated .

Try complete body free-flowing energy techniques before focusing on specific parts.

It could be, also, that you have lots of muscle tension and that act of being aware highlights this for you.  Many people have this tension, it is often unconscious, be it from stress, self-consciousness, emotion, etc.  Try, while not mediating, grabbing a hold of areas of your calf muscle or areas above and to the side of your hip to see if they are sore (or any other area for that matter).  I recommend practicing some kind of formal qigong to eliminate this.  As well, the microcosmic orbit meditation seems have a wonderful effect on tension for me.

Best of luck
