Wondering if somebody could explain this...

So earlier this afternoon I was practicing the energy body stimulation exercises involved in Day 4 of Robert Bruce and Brian Mercer's Mastering Astral Projection with my eyes closed and focusing my body awareness on the parts and stuff. While I was 'brushing' and 'sponging' my toes with my awareness hands, a white light began to flicker on and off behind my eyelids and continued until I stopped my exercises on my feet for the day. What was this?

Hi LadySegesta,
I have also had this light and stil have it everytime I meditate. Robert Bruce mentions this in Astral Dynamics. he says that it is caused by the brow center that strobes accumulated energy upward into the crown center. If you have the book, it is on page 185. I also asked a question on this forum concerning this strobing light and here is the link.

Thanks for that thread. Timandra. It all helped a lot. Well, at least now I know for sure that I'm doing all the energy work the right way.

That's what I tried to do, Xanth. It kinda distracted me for the first couple of flickers, though. I had never seen the 'strobe' before. It really excited me to know how well my energy work was progressing me though.

I see the lights all the time to this day after several years of meditation. They seem to change colors often to greens, purples, white. They are not normal "light shows" that I see while laying down to sleep. I actually use them while in a meditative state (beginnings of AP). I look past them and definitely not at them,which seems to accelerate me to a deeper state of meditation. I know when I am close to "there" when the lights begin to subside to view pitch darkness or millions of stars flying towards me at a very accelerated rate.  When you learn to use them without paying attention to them they are a powerful tool in gaining the proper state of AP

I have found that there are 'two kinds' of this phenomenon- the Third Eye Strobe (as Robert describes in various publications) which is a result of energy work and meditation, and happens easily by using the trigger (something I don't do due to it causing horrible migraines) and something else, also called 'light in the head' phenomenon, which is different- like having a light bulb 'on' in your head, behind the eyes, causing having your eyes closed be 'lit up'.  This has many causes (as described from various sources), but once it happens it can 'go off' from time to time.  I believe the second phenomenon is different from the first (I experience both, and they are different experiences) but one is gentler than the other.
I'm not sure which one you're describing (Lady Segesta, it sounds like the first to me) so I thought I'd throw both out here.
