I've been suffering from pretty severe depression these past few months, and of course I'm pretty sick of it. I would like to get antidepressant medications for it, but a diagnosis of depression is a disqualifier for the career I plan on pursuing.

I was hoping somebody had any suggestions. Maybe some uplifting meditations or herbal remedies or chi or anything to help.
I'm pretty much willing to try anything at this point.

Try all of the above. You can do a web search on each of these individually and find something you would be comfortable with. This will be healing in itself, for you will see it will open other doors of possibilities to you, just as coming to the Astral Pulse Forum has. The best thing I see here is you have admitted the problem to yourself, most people with Depression have a hard time admitting it. Now that you have admitted it, try to find the source of it. Look deep in side of yourself and find what's unbalanced in your life right now. Delving into Astral Travel will help you greatly with this, because it will change your entire outlook on life. You will find that you have more control over yourself than you think you do. You will also find that a lot of things that we deem as important here aren't really that important at all. This life is made for others not self, when you start living this way it changes your entire persona. But you will hit some bumps and lumps in the road, this is a part of healing.
 I shall send some healing energies your way.

Your handle describes lots and Lion has stated a very good point. Your need for help will be answered as you admit a problem exists.
 If you wish to enlighten us why this problem exists so the correct help can be administered then please tell.
If you wish to keep things private then read members posts and PM one or two asking if they can help you. Its a challenge and WORTH your time. I can offer you some help on many issues, Im not a shrink but have lived quite a while in this and other worlds.

just a suggestion , not a good one but i tried it........in england there is alot of people who claim sickness benefits and the easiest way to do that is get a diagnosis for depression by lying to the doctor.

by chance my mates dad was doing that and he stored the medication rather than throwing it away or using them and he had give me a small packet awhile back.

I researched the name of the pill and found nothing to say it would have any negative side effects with me and then tried them and they worked

but then i never got any more and stopped taking them

i know its a bad suggestion but if your in real need of a cure then would you or your friends not know anyone in a sinilar situation to my friends dad who gets pills from the doctor for a illness he doesnt have and doesnt use the pills? if you do maybe you could ask him /her if you could try a packet to see if they work

later i'll do some research to see if there is any vitamins,minerals or supplements or legal over the counter remedies that can be bought and have a side effect or alternative use then intened for that just happens to be a cure for depression


however, meditation,energy work, and positive affirmations aswell as productivity (not saying that your not productive ) all help me get back on my feet and out of a depression which sometimes can feel quite bad Smiley

I've heard of this... I (sometimes) suffer from this as well. Sorry to sound stupid, but what does, 'grounding' mean, how does one do it, and how does this lift you out of depression?

Sorry to ask these questions, just really curious...

What is Grounding?

No, this doesn't mean you can't leave your house for a week. Grounding is a term used mostly in conjunction with energy. Grounding means to get rid of the excess energy in your body and provide a path for new, clean energy to come through. It's important to always have a good flow of energy coming in and going out when meditating and doing any energy work.

Most people Center themselves before they Ground themselves. It's just a logical way to do it. First you calm the energy, then you move the energy.

How do you Ground your Energy?

This is a very simple exercise to ground yourself that can do almost anytime you want if you're feeling unbalanced or anxious or just beaming with extra energy that you want to get rid of.

Sit down, close your eyes take a DEEEEEEP breath. Exhale slowly. While exhaling visualize a root system growing downwards from your Root Chakra. Visualize it growing down towards the earth farther and farther as your exhaling until it reaches the earth below you. When you feel the connection, visualize your old energy moving down that root system and then new energy coming in through the Crown Chakra. This will provide a nice even flow coming through your body to aid you in any energy work you intend to do.

Quite True...I've had a recent theory (which I'm testing out) where I'm being really focused in whatever goal I'm trying to achieve (Will smith said it so true, 'you've really gotta focus)

This stops my depressing thoughts, and brings more peace inside me

Depression is not being 'unhappy'. Anti depressants do not cure you.  Yes, something is wrong if you are diagnosed with depression and that does have to be looked at and cured. Its the worst feeling in the world. I suffered for 7 months and would not wish it on my worst enemy. I lost 7 months of my life but as a result I did find a friend (now ex friend) who did help me via exercise. Find the root cause

Sorry to hear of your struggle,  I can empathise. Is it you that has diagnosed it as depression or a health care professional. Meds can really make all the difference in your life and you may only need to take them temporary to give you a leg up. I am a form believer i getting help. Will your possible future employer seek medical records? Or maybe you can ask your doc for some and ask thats not put on your file as depression, but help with sleep or something. Your long term health is most important. Best of luck x
