it's all relative to how long we live and much of our life we dedicate to doing nearly impossible things, but there *are* some things, like travelling at the speed of light without protection for your body and surviving, that are, imo, completely impossible.

Ok, here's what i think:
When a person is born (maybe not everybody), restrictions are placed upon that person. They are told they can't do this, they can't do that. Children are told there's no such things as ghosts, and we all know that children are very impressionable. This is the reason children are the ones who report knowing things from past lives, being able to see things adults can't. It's those restrictions that are placed on them that results in the loss of those things.
Now, to be able ot believe in astral projection, summoning spirits from other realms, spirit guides etc. a person usually needs to break down some of those walls (restrictions) that have been built in their way. I mean, people don't just get up one morning and say "I feel like getting into the occult. I think i'll draw a magic circle and summon up Satan after breakfast." They first have to break through that wall that was put there by people saying it's not possible.
So why stop at summoning spirits, or astral work, or anything like that? Why build more walls by saying things aren't possible? Nobody knows just how much we can do with our mind in... wherever we are, so why assume to know?
Nobody knows something is impossible until they've done it [Cheesy]
I'm not saying people are going to be able to do these things in this life-time or maybe ever, all i'm saying is that i believe it's possible because i don't want to have those walls in my way.
Sorry if that was un-necessarily long.

Anything possible, it's probablity yah have to look at.  It's possible to win the lottery, probable that one person will, and improbable that the one person is you or me(sorry to break it to yah, but hey, thouse are the odds).

It gets more interesting though that even inprobable events, when you get enough situations, will actually become probable.  Example: Getting a royal flush on 5 card draw.  Very improbable.  However, if you play poker very often, chances are you've gotten a royal flush once in your lifetime at least.

Another example, being able to levitate.  Very improbable.  But how many million or billion people live on this world?  It's very improbable that any indivudal can do that (lets say even a 1 in 1 billion chance), that still means 2 or 3 people out there really know how to levitate, and they ain't telling any of the rest of us Tongue .

I think SpiritPathwalker put it very well.  You have to think of both the possibility and the probability.

Didn't i say something like that in a previous post?[Wink]  You should read Monsters by John Michael Greer.  It talks about that general concept quite a bit.

There are some things set in stone (like math) that cannot be changed, and we know that all throughout life.  The trick is to figure out which ones can be changed, then do it.  That's how you break an Impossibility.

The most accomplished of humans are also the ones that have the highest degree of mental control & focus. What could possibly be accomplished if no task was performed without some necessary level of focus & concentration?

*The Universe is Mental* . One with sufficient mental capacity is able to accomplish whatever he can imagine because he may shape the very essance of the makeup of the Universe.

The only impossibilities are those which lay outside of one's imagination. Man can not create that which he can not first imagine, everything else remains a possibility - everything else may be accomplished.

When it comes to impossibilities I sometimes like to think of life as a game. But like all games, life has rules.

People like us are starting to try and understand those rules, to bring life to them. Once you know the rules, you can find loopholes to break them. Unfortunately, most of us do not have enough knowledge or wisdom to break the rules, but some of us can...bend them[Smiley].

I try not to overthink all this "essence of the universe" and mental concepts too much, it gives me a headache. The ideas that some thoughts aren't even our own took me a few days to chew through.
