This is a reply to a very old thread: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_magic/anyone_heard_of_the_occultist_basil_e_crouch-t10346.0.html;msg125414#msg125414

But for anyone who is interested, I met the late Basil Crouch on several very illuminating occasions. Although of advanced years when I met him, he was still a very powerful magician.

If anyone would like further information ... feel free to contact me.

I'm a woman who has been a white Witch for about 14 years at time of writing. I met another woman who would later become a pupil of the late Basil E Crouch - aka Clovinius. - In 1988. In fact I had a relationship with her from July 2010 to January 2012. Strangely she did nothing but sing the praises of the man she claimed tried to murder her in a black magick occult ritual years ago.

This woman; let's call her Kim as that seems a fairly realistic choice of name, turned out in many ways to be probably the strangest and most A-moral person I have ever had the misfortune to know, let alone to be a partner of. - That's not to say we didn't have some really good times, particularly at first, until I discovered that almost everything she told me, right down to the smallest thing, was a huge pack of lies. The only thing she told me that I couldn't disprove, and had no reason to disbelieve; not by gut feeling or inconsistency, nor by catching her out in any other way, were the stories that she told me about Clovinius - breaking the legs of a bird and watching it slowly and painfully die, his sexual encounters with animals and underaged youngsters; now continued by his son Dave who he cursed. Oh it was gross even having to listen to her vivid recollections of sexual encounters between a  veloptuous 30-something-year-old woman and a womanising geriatric over twice her age.

Kim had what she described to me as "mild autism". By the end of the relationship I would have gone on to discover that the experience of Clovinius left her with far more than just the mild autism that she was unfortunately born with, such as a personality disorder, schizophrenia, Munchhausen's syndrome, and severe autism with regular panic attacks. - Although I have no way of proving it I sincerely believe that her training by the evil Clovinius aka Basil Crouch, who was being hunted down by other powerful Witches for his crimes against magick which he committed in carrying out his own intensely perverse and uniquely evil magickal experiments and black magick rituals, left her with a massive amount of psychological scarring due to the abusive and demeaning nature of his ritualistic demonically-inspired masses and curses. Indeed she claims that he even "cursed her in order to "help her"". - whatever the heck that kind of speech is supposed to insinuate in some unspecified unsanctified coding. - When I first met her she was a lovely bubbly bright and beautiful woman who had everything going for her. By 2010 however she was a shadow of her former self: Her personality had soured and her demeanour was irrevocably altered into something resembling a badly-drawn ghost image of her former beauty and majesty of personality. - Yet I still adored her as I had done over the years. - Though by the end-game everything was darkened and she was no longer the woman who I had fallen in love with.

I think that maybe when I removed the curse from her she began to pale like an aged vampire stabbed through the heart with a stake. Maybe Clovinius took her essence and traded it for something akin to the elixir of life; and maybe by restoring normality I inadvertently broke the deal and rent the bonds of neo-immortality unknowingly bestowed upon her at a price. If this were true then the evil of the man Basil Crouch would stop at nothing, going as far as ruining the life of one so beautiful and physically perfect in order to carry out experimentation and gain self-gratification. - Powerful magician he may have been, but Aliester Crowley he was not; despite his continued efforts to emulate the great sorcerer.

The ritualistic teachings of the man Crouch do in many ways go far beyond anything within regular neo-occultistic comprehension, in addition to seemingly breaching the limits of paganistic safety. - Like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, except this particular sledgehammer in question would also figuratively seem to have a head charged with a billion volts of electricity. I had to draw the line at Kim's calling up Lucifer and various archangels in my front room without even consulting me first. I found myself closing the ritual and returning the massive powers back to whence they came with precision care before something went askew in some way and I was left with a very powerful and disturbed spiritual being roaming my home. There was already a grey winged creature associated with her which I mind-battled with at times in order to suppress it: Perhaps it had something in connection with the end of the relationship? I had encountered it hiding in a mirror drawing energy from a heated argument that we were having at the time. Kim claimed that it was a protector created by Clovinius and charged with the task of keeping her in line. - On that note, maybe it was my attack in the power of Osiris upon and banishment of the winged demon, to the void, that caused Kim to step out of line at the end of the day? Even Crouch himself was wary of using the powers of Osiris - which is why they were able to accomplish dominion over his entity. - But with any positive there has to be a balancing negative, and when you're dealing with powers of that magnitude it's nigh on impossible to totally control the manifestation completely.

Having said that I did turn to the Mother Earth Goddess for help at the end of 2011. The Terran Princess advised me that all things were coming to an end, and the quicker I let it go the quicker and swifter the wound would be cut and the less the pain would be. Stupidly I hung on, kindling that proverbial still-burning flaxen wick: My love is finite only by the lack of return, my passion is a fire that burns eternally, hot or cold. My emotions are a cage, not to trap you but to protect you from incoming negativity. - But when two or more are sharing the total sum where only the one should be then the return is lacking by the divisor's factor and my love runs low. Passion still burns but begins to cool, and my emotions ill-perceived become a cage which entraps your mind from the inside outwards. - And as she shared me with another so the flowing magma became lumpy as it cooled and solidified.

And Crouch? Crouch died in prison in 2001, but he lives on in this zombified sharing of a once beautiful life-force. He survives in everything putrid and rotten to the core; but, fortunately for much of the occult community, his magick has died with him, and anything that remains can be likened to a few conjuring tricks; remnants of a massive power that was dragged into the servitude of the darkness when it could have illuminated the world as we know it.

What became of Kim? I have no idea. My time with her is over and I currently have no intention of returning at time of writing. Maybe out there somewhere in the mists of time on a cold Wednesday afternoon you'll hear the barrel-organ playing and the softly spoken words "Ho ho ho. - On with the show!" as you take your last breath in this lifetime.

Does anyone know the circumstances under which he was imprisoned?  Judging from the book, the first three examples of rituals all involve sex and giving ones body to a deity, without even warning the client of any repercussions. I can tell that this man has/had great power, but it was definitely used for darker purposes.  A modern day Faust.

I don't currently have any information about the circumstances of Crouch's imprisonment. I won't speculate, but I may be able to find out some more: Don't count on it though.

I have a number of Crouch's publications still on my server in the following directory: -

Reading through Book of Forbidden Knowledge.  This guy did have some interesting things to say:

Quote
For those who are not yet magical cybernauts that needs some explaining: Crowley’s conceptions
of Magick pre-dated Carl Jung’s Archetypes in the Collective Unconscious theory. Crowley knew that
magical manifestations involved altered states of consciousness and could produce psychosomatic effects
but he may not have been aware that entire pantheons of ancient Gods and Goddesses, choirs of Angels, and
hordes of demons might exists in the deepest reaches of everyone’s mind.

Actually the theory was not very modern. Around 200 A.D. Hermes Trismegistus, the mysterious
founder of Hermetic Philosophy, had written in his Asclepius that: “The Gods of the Zodiac are eternal but
man creates his own lesser gods.” The implications of this statement are awesome. If we create gods, then
we control them! And if we can control them, are we not Gods ourselves? (En Tuo Templo, Tu Es Deus!)
This is why the late Warburg Institute scholar Francis Yates called The Asclepius “The charge of dynamite
behind Renaissance Neoplatonism.”
