Obviously, now, I realize that astral projection and phantasy are two different things and they don't seem or appear or can be visibly said to coexist within the astral.
Actually all the outer experiences of the astral are composed by phantasy. The "trick" is to use those phantasies instead of being used by them. The point is to create a sort of "map" of those outer experiences so that by and by a link to the inner parts can arise and you can discern those from the rest.
Being a believer in imagination and Creator, the Essence, and all things magickal, I thought that I could bring souls closer to Heaven by pushing phantasy.
It depends on how you approach the thing. If you just revel in the phantasies then they will bring you nowhere, it is just going round in circles. If instead, as I said, you begin by creating a "map" from those phantasies, by and by common and indipendent aspects of your inner Self will come forth from them. However to do this you need a structure to follow, to recognize these "signals" and find a way to approach them at will. By and by a larger link to them will forge and the outer aspect gets obfuscated by them, instead of the contrary.
I'm sorry. I didn't realize that astral projection was not the same thing as a phantasy basis. Or am I wrong in saying that? Is astral projection the same thing as a phantasy taken to a greater level of intensity?
You can also say that. Imagination and outer experiences of the astral are the same thing. It is only the intensity that variates. It is like having a broken mirror vs. an intact one. In "imagination" (as imagining for example a scenario in the mind's eye, by untrained people) the subconscious is filtered by the conscious part. In a lucid dream (or any other similar experience that focus on shutting the filter of the consciousness to a more or less gradation, before "entering" the subconsious) it happens the contrary, the subconscious filter the conscious, for this the more perceived "intensity", but also the less "control" you have. The aim would be to have a "middle ground", but that requires some practice.
This for what it concerns the "outer planes". In the same manner by and by the unconscious starts to flow in (if following a structure) and it gets filtered less and less by both the subconscious and the conscious (as it happens in "normal" waking life, the two filtering that part almost totally). In the most inner planes the process reverses by and by, with the unconscious gathering more and more force, the filters "breaking up" so you can discern it more and more, until the point when you finally "surrender" both the conscious and the subconscious (that form the ego) and unite with it.
This is the procedure of coming to what it is called "enlightenment" using the astral plane. The same can be done via meditation etc. Now the astral has a this "tiny" (sarcastically said, in fact it is a great one) trap of the "alluring" part of the procedure. You become attracted by the outer aspect of the practice (as the intenstity of what you see, the beauty etc.) and you lose yourself in these aspects of very little importance and all becomes futile (and actually increasing the futility the more you go on). If you can pass by this trap, however, it is a very good method to approach "God".
