My name is Ben. I'm glad I found this forum. I am interested in Astral Projection and plan on learning how to do it(or relearning it I should say). I have a few friends that already know how to astral travel and they have confirmed that I knew how to when I was younger. I have many questions that my friends weren't able to answer very well and I am hoping I can find some here. Here is my situation:
I use to remember what I thought were dreams of an island. I can totally describe the layout of the island and some of the major inhabitants of it. It was this island that I used to find out and confirm if my friends actually could see it/go to it. I only told them each three main features of it and asked them to describe the rest and any guardians that may confront them upon going to it. All 3 of them were able to do so acurately which at the time kinda freaked me out(I didn't totally believe in it at that time). This island is very large. It has a central mountain range, a large portion of darkness which has a volcano in the midst of it at the "north"(what I consider north) end of it and a large grassy plain at the "southern" portion of it. There is a dwelling in the midst of the grassy plain where I seem to have an Astral Double that isn't functional except its eyes standing infront of the dwelling.
Now my question is: How can I reconnect with that Astral Double part of me?
I kinda think I know how it got there and why I am not part of it. It has to do with abuse I recieved as a child and some psychological damage from it. I've been through therapy for most of it but seem to be missing some stuff still. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do otherwise to some how fix this problem. Anytime I have tried astral traveling using the techniques from Astral Dynamics(I need to rebuy that book too) I have the whole bodily jerk problem and fall back into my body(and yes I did read the explanation for the body jerk in the other topic in this forum). My friends have described what I look like in the astral plane when I do this too. I start to get out of my body then actually fall back into it...like I've lost the ability to float or something.
Anyways if any one can maybe help me with that or point me toward what section I should read in this forum that may help it would be great. Thank you in advance.

You are fortunate to have friends with which to talk about OBEs, lucid dreams and astral projection. Those 3 friends that you mentioned are apparently quite skillful at dreaming. It is also interesting that the island could well have some type of objective existence outside of your mind because all three friends were able to visit it!
I have begun to suspect that some dream locations Do in fact have some type of permanent existence outside and apart from each individual dreamer's mind. Perhaps these locations are the bases for the idea of collective conscious 'archtypes' that psychologists are so interested in exploring (?)

Actually if I go by my friends it exists in both the Dreamscape and Astral Plane. More than likely because of me since I can't conciously astral travel but I can lucid dream a small bit. Also according to one friend that has the most experience the island covers more than one level of the Astral Plane and has 3 Astral Nexus Points. One at each of the major locations I mentioned.

Yes, outstanding ! The astral nexus points that you mention make a lot of sense.
I have had several experiences that began as a dream and then transitioned into an OBE or AP. One time I had dual consciousness of both dreaming and being out of body simultaneously. I believe that some non-physical locations 'overlap' and are both on an astral and a dream plane. The island would be one such place with the 'gates' to the different planes.
